It's been awhile since I've updated my review. Cassis continues to be my choice for annual skin checks. Transparently, there was a moment I considered switching providers but this was due to a specific nurse practitioner versus the practice. I was switched to a different NP and have been happy. My last visit did uncover an atypical mole plus another to freeze off for precaution. I returned to see Dr. Cassis and had my mole surgically removed. Four stitches and will return for removal. The team took great care of me, from scheduling to having empathy for my fear of the needles and surgery. I received hugs from a couple of people and they didn't make me feel embarrassed. There's plenty of parking near the medical center. Two lobbies - one for basic skin checks and another for services with Dr. Cassis. Take note that calling to make an appointment can take a moment if the team isn't available to answer. It's listed as a core complaint in other reviews and it's not unfounded. The front desk team for skin checks is also fairly business-like but I've not experienced or witnessed rude behavior. I'm okay with that because the appointments run on time and that feels rare with other medical appointments. read more

Long time patient. I have never waited past my scheduled time and have actually usually been seen and treated before my scheduled time! Dr Cassis has always been polite/ professional and very thorough with a great bedside manner. I have seen dermatologists for several decades and have the scars to prove it. I honestly rate her as good as it gets and recommend her to everyone. As to the staff - I have had nothing but good experiences from the receptionist to the medical staff. I've waited far too long to do this review but I feel it should be known what happened to me. I can never see Dr. Cassis since she is always booked quite far out so I get a PA. I had a scar from a basal cell surgery scar so the PA injected a steriod that day, the next visit and the next. She said I'd have to go somewhere else for Laser as they don't have the correct laser treatment. I did and low and behold the new doctor did a biopsy and guess what, yes basal cell cancer so I had to have surgery (again). Talk about the PA not seeing that and apparently incompetent. read more

I have been going to Dr Cassis for around 12 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. I want to give kudos to the front desk. I had a concern about something on my finger. Katie & Katherine were so empathetic and got me in the same day to see Josey (who always listens to my concerns and answers my questions) Katie & Katherine consistently goes above and beyond in representing Cassis Dermatology. Both my sister and I had gone to Cassis for years for general dermatology reasons. The main reason we both decided to switch practices: nasty employees. I had been in over the past couple years or so for general acne concerns. Everyone from the front desk to the dermatologist assistant was so RUDE. Unbearable bedside manner and looked at me like I was a major inconvenience. Major judgmental tone when I was explaining the acne issues I had been having. After months of appointments, nothing that they had suggested for me helped and essentially the conclusion of the appointment was that I was out of options. Went to another dermatologist and was immediately given the correct diagnosis and was properly treated, all within 10 minutes of the appointment. Both my sister and I had such poor experiences with employees that we immediately switched practices. 0/10. read more

This is THE place to go for all your injectable's! Dr. Cassis has a voice and demeanor that is immediately calming. So friendly!! She and her assistant were professional, knowledgeable and fast. But I'll have to say the best part was that I had very minimal pain. My injections were the jowl, marionette lines and lips and they're usually uncomfortable areas but not with Dr .Cassis. I have been a patient of Dr. Cassis for 18 years and have finally decided to find a different dermatologist. While Dr. Cassis is phenomenal as a provider, her office staff is rude and unprofessional, and her PA and APRN providers come and go constantly; No one ever stays for long. If you call the office for an appointment it goes to voicemail and the staff calls you back, which means a game of phone tag. They act like you're committing a crime trying to make an appointment that fits your schedule. It's maddening and so unprofessional! It's also difficult to see the same provider for multiple visits bc they leave so frequently, unless you see Dr. Cassis and she books months and months out. Just not worth the hassle. read more

If you're looking for a dermatologist I would NOT recommend Cassis dermatology. I went there for a few years and they do their normal BS routine, but not thoroughly. When I called for an appointment due to an issue that arose they put me with a doctor who is not registered with the state and therefore my insurance denied the claim. All of my prior appointments have been approved by insurance because the other doctors I have seen are within network. I guess that is why they have you sign a document stating you are responsible for payment- due to their non registered doctor's who they put you with knowing your insurance won't cover them. Very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional attitudes. I made an appointment when I called into the front desk and she was very short with me. I was still having issues from 3 weeks ago and needed to be seen. I was set up with Dr. Cassis. when Dr. Cassis walked in with her assistant, she asked why I was there and said I was still having problems with a rash and itching. She asked me, what am I looking for her to help me with. I thought she was the doctor and I am the patient who should help me. hmmm. She said I had to help myself by not sweating, take antihistamines 4 x/day..... I looked at her and said, how can I not sweat with 90 degree weather, and that is part of my job and I have to be outside. She asked me why was I there? twice she asked me. I shut her down and said ....sorry to have bothered you as she waked out. I couldn't believe it. I cancelled all other appointments. this firm is very "entitled" and snobby. will never go back or recommend this practice. read more

I have trouble with acne, and I've been coming to Cassis Dermatology for a few years. I really like the staff there, and through I don't use many of the services beyond seeing Dr. Cassis and her PA, Heather, they offer many other services including injectables, facials, laser hair removal, body sculpting, and sunless tanning. They are usually very prompt and very thorough, qualities that aren't as common as they should be anymore. read more

I saw the PA, Catherine Booker, twice for adult acne. I have struggled with acne on and off for the last 10 years. I have had 2 rounds of Accutane which require monthly dermatology visit, so needless to say, I am very familiar with dermatologists and the billing process with this specialty service. I am rating this practice with 2 stars because I feel the billing process was very unclear. Even with my health insurance, the two visits far exceeded what I paid to see an MD in Chicago (I recently moved to Louisville). When I called to inquire how a 10-minute check-up could possibly be charged at $95, it was explained that services were rendered in my first appointment that were not charged for, so this was a fair charge for the follow-up. The services they are referring to were 'extractions' which take little time, and the provider was willing to do for me at no charge. It was explained in my first visit that extractions aren't covered by insurance, so they won't bill for them, but she would 'do me this favor'. Come to find out, they worked out a way to charge me for this service in a follow-up appointment. This just does not leave a good taste in my mouth. I need a provider that is clear and up front and that is not what I got from this experience. While I found the provider to be pleasant, my acne got FAR worse from the treatment plan she prescribed. I would have been willing to continue to work with her to work through the challenges and try alternative treatment, but I cannot do that with someone that I don't trust to bill fairly. read more

I had several friends recommend me to Cassis Dermatology. Although I was impressed with the medical staff, who did a wonderful job removing a mole from my nose and there is literally no scar, I can not accept the unprofessional demeanor of the person at the check in window. She is rude and not welcoming whatsoever. From my first appointment when she did not acknowledge me for several minutes; and when she did finally acknowledge me it was to ask me to move over to the side. To my call in a week later to ask if I needed to come in even though my stitch had come out on its own for her reply "I'll take you off the book." I won't be back, nor can I recommend anyone to be succumb to this type of unwelcoming disposition. read more

Been going to see Dr. Tamella B. Cassis for 15 years. Started when she was on Broadway in downtown Louisville, continued to see her in the first office at Norton Commons and today went to the beautiful building on Dayflower in Norton Commons. So the story goes like this, I went today to have my 6 month cancer screen. I gave the office staff my insurance card and the $30 copay. Here is where things went south. The office staff wanted to keep a card on file for future billing issues. I said I was not willing to do that. Then I was informed that in leu of putting a card on file that I could pay $75 from them to keep in my account. I said I would not do that either after all, I always paid the copay and have insurance. "THAT IS OUR POLICY" the staff asked if I wanted to talk to the office manager. I said no I would like to talk to Dr. Tami Cassis the staff said I don't know if she has time, I said I have an appointment at 11:15 so I am sure she has the appointment time available. I took a seat and was called into an exam room by staff and Dr. Cassis came in. I explained that I would not put the card on file or pay the $75 for them to keep in my account. That's our policy, then I said I was not going to be screened today and Dr. Cassis said that I should continue to be screened and asked if I wanted a referral. I didn't want a referral. So am I being unreasonable? I assume the business must be doing very well. I guess loyalty to your long term patients is a thing of the past. read more

So frustrated with this place! I called and told them i had a mole on my vermillion border of my lip that i wanted off. I mean very specific, right?!?!? Well i take off and come in and the second i get back there they say they can't do it because it's on my lip. I found SOME of the staff to be friendly but Dr. Cassis herself to be rude. She was not open to answering skincare questions in my routine skin cancer check stating that I would need to schedule an appointment with her PA. As a first time patient, I was unaware of this and did not appreciate the manner in which I was told. After waiting a month to see physician assistant i show up for appt on 12-5-13 only to be told appt was on yesterday. I do not make mistakes with appts. Front desk person wasnt helpful at all. Did not try to resolveand help only came to tell me not gonna get seen, that not taking new patients. When appt was made by phone I was asked is it ok to see physician assistant since dr, is booked for 6 months an I agreed to see asst. Offered another appt another month out.
