Went three for breakfast on Saturday I had ordered eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and pancakes. When I received my food it was stone cold like they pull some leftovers out of the fridge. My friends ordered omelettes and when they arrived they were smaller than a deck of playing cards. Decide to check this place out one night, as the menu seemed pretty impressive. Lots of variety and some unique stuff too. Service was really good, but sadly the food was as really mediocre. The burgers definitely seemed to be frozen patties, no wow-factor. I had the meatloaf. It was good, but coming out on a white plate made me feel like I was grabbing dinner from the hospital cafeteria on my break. Bloody Mary had really good flavor but it really needed more alcohol. We had burgers, fries and lemonade. The burgers were good but seemed like they might be frozen and not fresh made - couldn't tell. The fried mushrooms on top were delicious. Fries and onion rings were good. The lemonade was watery. We were very happy to sit in a corner by ourselves and also glad the waitress wore a mask during COVID time. read more

We won't be spending our money here anymore. First we waited 10 minutes to get asked for drinks and given a menu then it took 45 minutes to get our food. It was busy so I can understand BUT a couple sat down in a booth behind us AFTER us. They got their drinks first, ate their food, paid their bill, and left and we still didn't have our food. We were looking for a casual, full service restaurant on our way from Duluth airport to Lake Vermilion. This was 1/2 mile off the beaten path and a perfect choice. We tried this after a late road trip with kids. Good choice. We will be back. We got there at 8 on Friday night and sat in the bar which is family friendly. Teriyaki Chicken wing apps were delicious; crispy with the right amount of sauce. We ordered two fish fry specials, the Havana sandwich and creamy garlic fettuccine. Our meals arrived in reasonable amount of time and all four of us were pleased. Fish was mild and crunchy with superb house made slaw. Havana had good balance of ham and pulled pork and was served on a chewy grilled roll. My wife commented her fettuccine was made with real Alfredo sauce, not food service starchy sauce. Can't attest to the food a whole lot yet as I've only tried a couple of items on the menu but i LOVE the bands that come thru on saturday nights as live music is usually a pretty great time. Gone in to throw darts a few nights midweek and Tanner and Zarek are pretty awesome bartenders. Great facelift for a great location. Look forward to future visits. read more

We where there last night and we where lucky to get Loretta for our server she has to be the Best Wateris I have ever had and we eat out 4 or 5 days a week so if you go to the Cast Iron hope you get Loretta you will love her she Rocks and is a Great Lady she could teach Service go give it a try and ask for Loretta read more

Went several times to give them support in hope of having a good place to frequent close to home...very disappointed...My daughter ordered a pizza and was so undercooked cheese was not melted...sent it back and they gave it to her burnt...another visit I ordered rings with burger...got burger no rings...waitress said I didn't order them, I said forget it and I got bill and was charged for rings...wrote management online and was polite...no response back from management...business wont last long.. read more

Went to the Cast Iron for my first time - - was not impressed. Walked in with a table of 8, we moved two tables together to accommodate all of us. We waited 15 minutes before walking upto the bar to see if we had to order drinks there, or if we had to wait for a server (there was one other table occupied plus the bar) the bartender was very rude and said he didn't see us walk in. He clearly did. Ten minutes later, the server asked for our drink order. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't even rate the place two stars. She was great when she finally came over , the bartender was awful. read more

Visited The Cast Iron with a friend last Friday for a burger and a beer and after 45min of waiting for the food it came with one burger missing the cheese and bacon and the other burger raw, alerted the waitress and she told us she would take care of things and order us another burger, again with out cheese and bacon. In the end the manager really didn't seem to think this was a problem and we truly felt she was blowing us off. After a bit she offered to comp our meals and we said yes and ran away from the Cast Iron as fast as we could! Never again! read more

Open for just a year now, this establishment has come a long way and they are on the track to great things. I love the atmosphere here, the bar area is fun and lively and the dinning area is quiet and relaxing. The event center they just renovated is beautiful I would definitely plan an event there if I had one to plan. The food & service is great and keeps improving! They have great Happy Hour & David and Sammy are great bartenders, friendly and knowledgeable and creative! The wait staff is always friendly. The daily dinner specials are fantastic. My favorite place to go for Friday Fish Fry! I've never had a bad experience here & I have been to Cast Iron for many lunches, dinners, just stopped in for a drink or two as well as checking out some of the live music and events on the weekends. Cast Iron is doing a great job of bringing good service and good food to a great location on top of the Hill in Duluth. read more
