This place came recommended by some locals and didn't disappoint. If you want some great drinks that are poured well and not topped off with Sprite or ice cubes this is the place. Prices are in line with where they should be and about $6.00 cheaper than the Minnesota side. They took the time to make each drink well even though they were busy. I love the Spirit Room! It's always a treat to stop by when I'm in the area to grab a tasty cocktail and enjoy the ambiance. My most recent visit was during their Holiday Club pop-up event with holiday-themed drinks. My group tried the salted sour, cookie butter old fashioned, and Mama Nancy's Xmas punch. All the drinks were fantastic, but my favorite was the cookie butter old fashioned. It was perfectly made and not too sweet. They've got the space nicely decorated for Christmas. It's wonderfully cozy! The staff are friendly, too. Only one person was working when we were there, and she did a great job balancing all of the customers. Be sure to check the hours on their website/social media before you go. They seem to be a little varied. read more

Very impolite, granted I walked into the bar an hour after close. This still doesn't excuse what happened! When your establishment is closed you need to lock your doors, not act like jerks. To elaborate I was sober and in my right mind, just trying to get a feel for the numerous bars in Superior WI. I walked in it was 11:03 and they said they closed at 10 and the coworkers were in the bar having a drink. I lingered for a moment to see what beers they have on tap, in case I wanted to come back. Don't worry about It, I won't be! I said I liked the Celebration Ale by Sierra Nevada, then one of the gentleman ubruptly stood up and said "that reminds me I will show you out and lock the door behind you." The only explanation is, they must of thought I was a drunk because that's how I was treated. I perceived his FU tone of voice, and felt completely degraded to be ushered out the door. I wish I could of given them the zero star rating. The way I was handled gives me the feeling that this establishment has a superioriry complex. Your are mistaken the Lake is Superior, but your attitude was perceived as appallingly rude by this potential customer! read more

I don't get to Superior very often and in fact this was my very first trip. After attending an event at the Spirit Room I can't wait to go back. What a cute space and Lindsey who helped with the private event could not have been more accommodating. I was very impressed. I loved how they set up the champagne bar. I had never seen that before. A variety of different juices such as lavender lemonade, cranberry, orange and pineapple juice. Then so much fresh fruit to select from. Lindsey knew just the right proportions to make a great mimosa and have it taste delicious. Our buffet included scrambled eggs, sausage and those potatoes were outstanding. Just the perfect amount of crispness. I did miss not having any fresh fruit on the buffet. That would have been a nice addition. This place is a tapa bar at night and also has live music. I only wish this place was a little closer to home! read more

I was pretty impressed with my first visit to the Spirit Room. Our group was seated in a room which was separate from the main bar area. As we entered the room, we were greeted with a great floor to ceiling mural on one of the walls. Other visually pleasing works of art by local artists, including Adam Swanson and Dennis Aho, are displayed on the walls throughout the bar. We ordered a sampling of the tapas that the Spirit Room has to offer. We tried the following dishes: Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna - Wasabi citrus aiolo · English cucumber. This was ok. The cucumber and Wasabi citrus aiolo was quite good, but the Tuna was just ok. Artichoke Dip - Served on a bagel crouton · lemon dill cream cheese. Very strong flavored artichoke dip. Spicy Beef Skewers - Marinated beef · turmeric · cumin · garlic · Enoki mushrooms. These were pretty good. They are coated with quite a bit of seasoning. Unfortunately, I had a couple of bone fragments in my skewers which are hard on the teeth! The mushrooms were good. Smoked Salmon - Northern Waters Smoke Haus salmon served on a bagel crouton · lemon dill cream cheese. The salmon had a nice flavor to it and they put a good amount on each crouton. I was not a big fan of he bagel croutons. Margarita Pizza - Roma tomatoes · basil · olive oil · red onion · garlic · mozzarella cheese. The pizza was served nice and hot! Felt like it was straight out of the oven. It had a very good flavor and was by far my favorite tapa of the night! If heading out to the spirit room for an assortment of tapas, I would definitely recommend adding the Margarita Pizza to your assortment of flavors. if I put the tapas in the order of my favorites so far, I would go with this list: 1. Margarita Pizza 2. Spicy Beef Skewers 3. Smoked Salmon 4. Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna 5. Artichoke Dip The Spirit Room also has Whitefish Cake, Seared Scallops, Glazed Shrimp and Chorizo Sausage, Mussels, Bruschetta, Sausage Sampler, and a Cheese & Olive Plate. I look forward to trying out some of these other selections the next time I visit the Spirit Room! read more

What a gem! Sorry I didn't take pics but we had the sausage sampler (Elk, Pheasant and Wild Boar!)-- this was our favorite, bacon-wrapped dates, Spicy Beef skewers and Creme Brulee for dessert! I really had high hopes for this evening but left disappointed. First it was very noisy and they had a violin band that was very screechy at times. Almost painful! Not a place to enjoy with a party of six for conversation. To start it took forever to get our drinks then forever for server to come back so we finally ordered 3 plates for 6 of us. He said we could keep ordering until we were full but the problem is it took over 30 min to get first plates and he never came back in the meantime. Not to mention when we got our plates the food was cold. I actually think he forgot them! Well needless to say we left hungry and went to the local greasy burger joint. Too noisy, too expensive and way too slow for my taste. Poor tapas deserve better! read more

What a great find. We used Yelp to find them and were hoping they fit the reviews and they did. Great place for tapas! We went on Friday night and didn't know they had music. We were pleasantly surprised with the duo Similar Dogs, which is a local duo. They were awesome and friendly. The food was great and the wine was cheap. And our waitress was awesome! She helped us pick food and the craft beers we had at the end of our meal. It is in the old City Hall. The room was small but very cozy and well decorated. A great find. Thanks Yelp! read more

Shared plates were exactly what we wanted - not a huge meal. We had the smoked salmon, the smoked chicken legs, and the pumpkinseed falafel. All were good. The server was a little distracted. She had several friends sitting at the bar and they were looking through a high school yearbook. Upside is that this is a good indication this is a neighborhood hangout. When I go home to Superior this is my absolute favorite place to go! The tapas may be small in size but they most certainly are not small in taste!!! Drop everything you are doing and go to this business. The drinks were stellar. Creative, boozy, tasty! We ordered an array of tapas. Nothing let us down in this area either. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. My very favorite was the steak and potato pave' but also the seared scallops. I will be returning SOON with a group for the bloody and mac n cheese bar on Saturday. I would also like to add that I was here on a particularly busy night it seemed and the very professional waitstaff kept up with all needs without missing much of anything. We ordered the wrapped dates, and the scallops. As it IS a tapas bar, beware that portion sizes are small. The wrapped dates were really good and the scallops were wonderful!
