Baked Chicken- lacked in flavor, had no seasoning, no oregano no salt. It was bland and lacked in taste. i also would have preferred it be cooked a little longer. Arepita De Yuca - They are not bad but I have had better. They taste like over used oil, or old oil. However they are not terrible. Cake de Piña - was expecting that typical Dominican Cake with the pineapple inside and outside dominican frosting. Cake de Guayaba - I was expecting a little more. Cake de Dulce De Leche - I was expecting authentic Dominican Cake. Overall, this will be my last time eating from here this Dominican Restaurant is definitely not living up to the standards of Dominican Cuisine and it's over priced. However, that Lula's of Lodi is not open on Sundays, while this one is, hence why I decided to finally go the extra mile (literally) to check this Lula's out. To be honest, I didn't look at much of the menu (although I'm sure much of it is good), EXCEPT for the Daily Specials. Each day, just like the other Lula's, there are different items that you can order for a VERY, VERY reasonable price ($8.50 and up as of Sept. 2023). It's actually quite shocking that you can order an entree of anything in 2023 for just $8.50, but you can here! All of the Daily Specials come with a protein of your choice (depending on what's available that day) + white/yellow rice and pinto beans. When I say protein of your choice, like I said, various days will have a different offering, such as, Shredded Beef/Ropa Vieja, Chicken Stew, Roasted Pork/Pernil, Baked Chicken, 1/2 Chicken, Pork Stew, Ox Tail Stew, Baked Chicken, etc. On our 1st visit to this location, we ordered a few entrees to try - Shredded Beef/Ropa Vieja, Roasted Pork/Pernil, Baked Chicken, 1/2 Chicken and Baked Chicken. To sum it up, everything was good and the portions were HUGGGGE. So much so that we easily split each entree into 2 meals. Yellow, and even the White, rice were tasty. The meats were solid - some on the drier side, but it's to be expected with Pernil and pieces of white meat Baked Chicken. The pinto beans definitely helped with adding some moisture to the meal. Since this location is located within the Bergenfield town, you can only find parking strictly on the street. Also, this location has a few tables that you can dine in on, but just about every customer I saw walk in, walked back out with takeout. Just about all of the employees didn't speak much English here and only one was delegated to help me because they spoke it somewhat, so try to be patient when ordering if you don't speak Spanish. And, one more tidbit is that you can order online via their website, but it's possible that not all of the items that you purchase will be available, so when you show up, they might ask you to order what's available.

This place has a parking lot next door but it seems that this lot belongs to an auto repair shop not the restaurant, it has tow-away signs but we parked in the lot because it was after hours. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of tables, the music is low, the decor is low-key with some Winter motiffs. I told my wife that I was expecting more of an Island/Caribbean decoration. My wife ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (Shrimp Soupy Rice) & got Spaghetti with Dominican Salami, Tostones & Avocado. Hot tea to drink. I expected the Spaghetti to come with Dominican Salami as an option (this is how Dominican Spaghetti is prepared and served) but unfortunately it does not, the Spaghetti is plain & adding the Dominican Salami is extra. My wife's Asopaó was full of shrimps, very tasty she loved it as did i. My Spaghetti with Dominican Salami was pretty good. The Spaghetti were al dente enough (not too soft nor too hard), flavorful, Dominican Salami chunks were hearty (I was hoping that the Salami would be stewed but it was fried instead), the avocado was fresh & unblemished, & the tostones were perfectly golden fried & crispy. Ashley & Stacey were our servers and they were very friendly, full of smiles, on-point & honest. I said honest, because after paying the bill we asked for a pen to add a tip and she explained to us thar the tip (which is an automatic 15%) is already included. Which surprised us, usually tip is included with a party of 6 or more, we are only a couple. My wife and I always tip between 10% & 20% depending on the service of course. But no matter how bad, horrible was the service we tip at least the 10%. We detest restaurants that force us to tip. We believe we have the right to give a certain amount of our hard earned money ourselves, without forcing our hand. Because of this practice of including the automatic 15% tip, no matter the size of the dining party, I give a rating of 3 stars. If it wasn't for this forceful tipping, I would have given this place an easy 5 stars. So beware when dining in at La Cocina de Cristina, while the food is amazing, their tipping policy will force you to shell out 15% of your bill, whether the service was good or not. We will NOT dine in at this place ever again. If anything, I will order via Grubhub (which allows me to tip accordingly) or order take-out.

The chicharron, longaniza, and chicken were fried to perfection and the tostones were good too. I prefer my tostones a little crisper which is the only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 but that's just my preference. The place is beautifully decorated with dominican and it is very clean and well put together. Very nice vibe inside.

Started off with caramel churro ($3.15) which was very tasty with the coffee. For my main, I got the sausage omelette ($10.35) which comes with pancakes and it was a solid meal. I couldn't finish the whole meal bc there was a good amount of food. Overall had a good experience.
