    2 chicken empanadas

2 chicken empanadas for $6, for them to be this empty! I got Robbed! I never leave reviews but this I had to mention. Do better

    Location

The place is very nice, really reminds me of a visit to a friends house . The arroz con gandules was very good and true to what it should be . I have the pernil and it was very difficult to enjoy. It looked great, but was very salty. Ultimately I had to mix it up with tame the salty taste. The cuban sandwich was not like any I have had anywhere else . It was on a round roll, heavy on mustard, no pickle and no ham, the pork was very very salty. It also took a while to be prepared, longer than 10 minutes and for that amount of time it should have been on point . I have had Cuban sandwiches every where including in Puerto Rico across from the San Juan Grand Hotel and this one was not as good as it could have been. I hope the salty pork was just a one time mistake

The food was ok. $14 for two pieces of meat and rice with plantains. Rice was moist and chicken was well seasoned. My friend wasn't thrilled with the steak said it was tough. The service is ok. I don't think I'll be coming back.

Cannot complain. The mofongo was perfect! The chinola juice really is naturally made and soooo good! The alcapurria is great! Loved it!

I give a one start cause the rice was good at least. The pasteles (which we traveled 2 hours to get, craving home taste) were not good, dry and not tasty at all. Super disappointed. The Dominican lady had no idea what a yunta is (which is two together). SMH we get home all excited for a NOT tasty at all pastel, The yuca one was the only one that was eatable and it was just really not good. I eat these yearly as a tradition, what a waste. Just take the time and make them at home and avoid the disappointment.

My breakfast, I was hangry. I didn't want to go to the Bronx to get some Puerto Rican food.

Small place. You want fresh finger food, order them ahead of time. Love their hot sauce.

Came in on a Saturday at around 11:45 and there were already a few people ordering takeout. To start, we had an alcapurria (fritter) to share. The flavor was good but I wish there was more pork filling inside and that it was a little less oily. I ordered the Cuban, which they said would take 10-15 minutes. My BF had some plate of rice and pork (premade) with plantains. Both are pretty large portions and we were only able to eat half. He said his dish was pretty greasy. I tried it and it wasn't bad but I'm glad I got my Cuban. My other complaint was that I wish they had other hot sauces besides Texas Pete. We found this place because we were looking for a quick/cheap lunch spot in the area, but I don't think I liked it enough to come back.

The pastels de Guineo were tasty, meaty and well priced. The service was great, very accommodating.

Small-ish storefront on Main Street with street parking and I'm sure some municipal lot somewhere. ( 2nd locatgion in New Milford) Friendly staff and experienced bartender. Great drinks are made here and I highly recommend the Happy Hour with great prices on food\drink. Bar area ( 9 seats) is clean & impressive, and dining room bright & cheery. Stopped in during HH and had a few drinks waiting for my To Go order. Excellent Mojito cocktail; Red Sangria was very good too A group of us all agreed; One of The Best Cuban sandwiches anywhere. Stuffed with plenty of marinated pork & ham. And served with perfect plantain chips ( freshly made, not like the jawbreakers you get elsewhere.) Best corn tamale ( topped with fried pork (chicharron) and criolla) ever. So fresh, soft and flavorful The steamed yucca bathed in garlicky mojo sauce was cooked perfectly and every bite delectable. Empanadas may be small but very flavorful; I had the oxtail and the spinach with manchego cheese. Sooo good. Can't wait to try the brie with mushroom. The only item that fell flat for me was the chicken wings tossed in Cilantro and lime mojo. Needed more cilantro & lime!!! ( it also comes in a Spicy mango habanero sauce) Dessert menu sounds really good. Looking forward to eating here again. Highly recommended.

All the menus are tablets, and you can switch between English and Spanish. Frustratingly, there was no Cuban sandwich available on the dinner menu. We got an appetizer sampler to start. Most of it was fried foods, so it was decent. For an entree, I got the fish filet in garlic sauce. The fish was tender and the sauce was flavorful. I also tried the oxtail. Some of them were tender and other pieces were quite chewy. To finish the meal, I ordered a cortadito but got a cortado instead. You'd think a Cuban restaurant would know the difference.

The parking lot was packed so I expected there to be a wait but was pleasantly surprised when our party of 5 (plus a baby!) was seated right away. The place is lively and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There's a stage/dance floor in the middle so I can imagine it can turn kind of clubby later in the night. Interestingly, the menus are all tablets and while really cool at first, it got annoying when a couple of our menus started to glitch. High tech but also leaves more room for failure. The service was friendly though and decently quick. We ordered a few appetizers and they came out in a reasonable amount of time. We got a sampler, croquettas, and a tamal. Everything tasted great so I had high hopes for our entrees. I went with the Mother's Day Special Relleno (stuffed) Salmon. It was a little overcooked but still really tasty. I believe it was stuffed with some crab meat and cheese. I also really liked the sauce that covered it. My dad got oxtail and it was seasoned very well but the oxtail pieces were cooked inconsistently. Some were soft and came off the bone very easily while others were tough to the point I had to use my hands to gnaw the meat off the bone. Everyone else's dishes were pretty good too. All in all La Havana 59 seems like a solid Cuban spot. I'd come back.
