I agree with Lissa W. It was beautiful when Rosalba owned the business and then Thomas. New owners need to take a business management course about customer loyalty. I had been taking my dogs for over 13 years. I lost my Goldendoodle last year and still take my Bernadoodle. We have had a stand-in appointment every 3rd Friday from the beginning. When new ownership took over, they canceled all of my 9:00 AM appointments until the end of the year and scheduled me at random days and times. Today, we had an 11:30 AM appointment. It's usually a quick appointment for 1 1/2 hours. I had yet to receive the text telling me she was ready. I was doing errands today and was nearby and stopped in to check on the status, only to find out that they had not even begun her service; WHAT???? Angry is an understatement. The only response I could get from Jen, one of the owners, is we have been busy, and I don't even know what time it is. I told her that common courtesy and communication would have been appreciated. Emmi from Castle K-9 does all the Pomeranian haircuts! She is amazing. Lucy is easy to groom but Kota freaks out! Emmi was the first person that I took her to that was able to cut her hair. Ever since then I have been taking her there 4 beautiful haircuts in a row! Plus Castle K nine is very quick. I hate dropping her off for more than three hours. I usually get her back within 2 1/2. Time to close the doors. The time they take no to respond (or more often ignore) texts and calls. Our Bernedoodles have been going here for 5 years. Since Thomas left, we can't even get an appointment. It's clear they have no interest in taking care of our larger dogs anymore and are more focussed on smaller dogs. We know they as they still maintain my mother and sisters dogs small dogs. This place has gone down the gutter, miss you Thomas, wish you all the best in retirement but feel free to start a new place so our dogs can see their favorite groomer again!!! read more

When this business was owned/managed by Rosalba and Thomas it was great. However it recently changed ownership and although I made the next appointment for my 3 dogs on a Saturday in front of the new owners at the end of August, they did not inform me they changed their hours to not work Saturdays. Had I known I would have found new groomers 2 months ago since we are only available to bring them on the weekends. Professional courtesy would have been to contact future Saturday appointments and cancel them beforehand. read more

We take our pooodle/airedale mix to Thomas about every 6 weeks or so. He is always so good with her to make sure she is comfortable. He is really knowledgable about different dog breed and what their cut requires. For instance, airedales should only have their nails filed, not cut because of how dense it is. Our pup always comes out super fresh and smells great! read more

I've been taking my dog, Chewie, here for almost two years and I wouldn't take him anywhere else. Chewie is a massive drama queen when it comes to baths and nail trims and Thomas is great with him. They are great about using Chewie's special shampoo and not using the dryer because it scares my delicate flower of a dog. read more

I am so glad I was referred to Thomas and Castle K-9 by our dog trainer (wet noses- warm hearts). I take my pit mix here to be groomed. The gentleman who does the grooming for her always treats her like a princess. He even stayed with her while I was coming to pick her up because she didn't want to be in the kennel. It takes a little bit of time 1-2 weeks to schedule an appointment but is well worth it. read more

They are simply the best! I love that I am able to make an appointment for my dog and bring her in exactly when they are ready to start grooming her so she does not have to sit caged up all day (other groomers). Everyone is so friendly and helpful. You can see the entire grooming and bathing area! Delores is the most attentive and consistent groomer we've ever met, and we've followed her from one grooming place to another. She's really patient, and just generally takes good care of our three little Maltese, especially the one who's in poor health. They all come home clean and happy and not nearly so exhausted or stressed out as they have with other groomers. Her prices are really reasonable -- and for a small fee she offers pick up/drop off if you live close by, flea treatment and de-matting. If you're busy or maybe your dog has just gotten totally filthy, it's more than worth it. She also offers dog walking/sitting by request, and while we haven't needed that, I'd definitely feel comfortable leaving our dogs in her care. read more

It's super easy to contact her by text and she is super accommodating to our schedule. Both my husband and I travel and it's hard to stick to an appointment set up months before. This review is just based on first impression only. We ate at the restaurant next door and walked by this place with my daughter. She loves dogs. We walked in and there was a lady at the front who didn't look up and greet us. We stood there and weren't being acknowledged, so I figured they didn't care and I moved over past the desk holding my 20 month so she can look at the dogs (this is a super small place). We stood there for 3 minutes looking at the dogs and I hear one of the groomers bark out to us (no pun intended), "she can't be here!". Excuse me- are you talking to me? And did you just refer to my daughter like she was a dog? I didn't know I was being talked to, and she barked it out again and added, "she'll spook the dogs." Those were the only words ever spoken to us. My daughter was quietly looking at the dogs and the only reason they noticed we were there was because the dogs started looking at us. Don't get me wrong, I totally get the reasoning. But dang, maybe if I was greeted by your front desk girl, she could've told me that in a nicer manner. In fact, that groomer could have too. This is how you talk to a potential customer? Guess my two rotties won't ever come to this place. Hope they treat the dogs here nicer than they treat people. read more

I'd like to take a minute to give some feedback on Castle K-9. My dogs Bailey and Brandy have been going to Rosalba and staff for 2 years now. Both of my dogs came from the shelters and were timid when they first went in to see her. I don't consider Castle K-9 just a grooming salon. I see them as one of my dogs health care providers. Keeping your dog happy and clean is all part of taking proper care of your dog. Now on to the details: Owner Rosalba was just opening up shop and I wanted to find a groomer for my new babies. She is wonderful- cares about the dogs well being, not just about the grooming process. She takes time to bond with the dogs and become their friend which is something I had never found in my previous dog's groomer. For example., she always points out if they have an ooowwie or other skin issue that needs to be tended to. She gives them love when they are with her, which i know they enjoy. Now onto the grooming! Both dogs look great when they come out. Very clean, especially their ears and under their feet. She does a great page boy cut on my dog Bailey's ears and Brandy as well. The temperature in the salon is very comfortable. We were having a heat wave recently and it felt wonderful in there so I know the dogs were not hot. Prices are very reasonable for the area. You must book a couple of weeks ahead with the salon as they book up. Word has gotten around. This does not bother me in the least, I am just grateful i have found Rosalba and staff. You have to appreciate the good ones when they come around :) read more

I've been taking my pooch for a few years now... I really trust the care that the owner, Rosalba, puts into her work. I also really love and appreciate the two hardworking groomers, Aimee & Yuki. The three of them make a great team, that I can trust my pup with. My only complaint is with the price, which has gone up since I started coming here. In this economy it's becoming more and more difficult to make the appointments. I used to go to 4 Dogs on Crenshaw Blvd, which was quite good as well, and they charge half the price. I prefer Rosalba simply because you can clearly see inside the grooming area, and she feels comfortable giving you a tour of the complete bathing area in the back on request. (4 Dogs has refused to do that with me). They are very thorough and let you know of any medical concerns they may come across that you may not be aware of. I only wish they dropped their prices, or had a coupon or monthly special. To the girl (Ashley K) who posted a negative review, without actually walking in and seeing the place for yourself. You have clearly gotten the wrong impression. I suggest you give it a second go, and this time, perhaps try walking in so you can actually see the place yourself. Rosalba is a wonderful woman who sincerely cares about the dogs under her care. She's also a very busy woman who takes her work very seriously. Advanced appointments are absolutely necessary, and understand that grooming here is not cheap by any means. read more

The best groomer in the South Bay is Liana who has been taking care of my dogs for years ! My babies always look like show dogs after a visit ! Plus they love her which wasn't the case with other groomers I went to before I started going to her. I honestly wish I could give more than 5 stars ! We had our puppy groomed today and can't say enough good things about this place. My puppy is scared of EVERYTHING and has been turned away by a commercial establishment that didn't want to deal with her fears. However, Rosalba and Amy worked with her and tried to make her feel comfortable and were so patient with her. The establishment is extremely clean, mindful of the health and safety of the animals first, and gets the job done really well. They use great natural products that are great for your pet. Rosalba is truly gifted in caring for these animals and makes sure her staff are similarly mindful. They will take care of your pet, as long as he/she is not aggressive. As I have said before when I reviewed Castle K-9, there is no better groomer in all of the South Bay. My Silky Terrier, Toby, has a date with Rosalba, Amie, and Yuki every two weeks. They are truly the most wonderful, caring, and meticulous dog groomers out there! I even bring my boyfriend's Chihuahua to see Rosalba and to keep Toby company on his bimonthly baths. Rosalba has been such a wonderful friend to me and my family, and she is an incredible person let alone business owner. Anyone who says otherwise is sorely mistaken. As for the person who posted the negative review, his judgment over any sort of personal matters are clouding what Rosalba does for a living. Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? If it was, this is a business and a business owner, who would get it. I have been using Rosalba for our 2 dogs since she opened her amazing business. We have 2 dogs, Teddy and Hazel. Our beagle Hazel is easy going, carefree and friendly, like most Beagles. Teddy, is a rescue, mix breed, who was nervous, scared and unsure of most people. Rosalba and her staff were unbelievably patient, calm and caring with Teddy. He was never aggressive, but very timid. Rosalba's calming manner, caring touch and clear love for animals won Teddy over. It didn't take long for Teddy to completely trust the staff and actually enjoy coming to Castle K-9 for his grooming. I don't believe any other business would have been as patient with Teddy. The easy, calm docile dog is always going to be easy to work with. But, a special dog like Teddy, who came from a questionable background, needed the extra special care only Castle K9 could provide. I would highly recommend Castle K9, Rosalba and her entire staff. Any negative reviews of the business are obviously in the minority and certainly not the belief of any customers who care about their animals. Delores is amazing! Our daughter brought her fluff monsters to stay with us - they are sweet but boy do they shed! Delores had them all de-shed and so soft in no time! They seemed very comfortable with Delores despite being in a new state, away from their owner - my daughter - and all the handling Delores would have to do to get them so clean. I just relocated to Redondo Beach from across the country and feel so blessed to have found Castle K-9! I read the great reviews on here and was convinced to give it a try. I brought my 11 month old Yorkie puppy and he was given THE BEST treatment, as was I! I was given a full tour of the facility and shown the natural products used in the process. It is extremely obvious that Castle K-9 truly cares for the animals, treats them with love and compassion, and always looks for the best interest of the animal. My puppy has some issues and has been known to be especially difficult during grooming, but they did not give up on him - instead they gave him the best experience he's had yet! I was also given wonderful tips in training and caring for my new puppy, as well as a very helpful recommendation for a new vet, since I am new to this area. I really appreciate the time, attention to detail, and loving care that was given to my pup and I can't wait to bring him back! Our little Bichon-Poo rescue needed cleanup & styling. I found Castle K-9 on Yelp after our new vet had recommended someone near them who'd gotten terrible reviews. Rosalba, the owner, and Amy, the groomer we worked with, did fabulous work. We wanted Toby to have a natural look, not the poof that most Bichons have, and they did exactly what we asked. Rosalba is reassuring, experienced and kind. Our little guy looked terrific & seemed happy to have been there. And Amy gave him a perfect haircut, unlike the awful one he had when we got him. Liana is awesome. She fit me in the same day and was done right on time. I have never had someone groom my dog Bentley as well as Liana did. She did exactly what I asked for, unlike every other place I've taken him to. She even cut his nails short enough which is always a problem elsewhere. I have a new miniature schnauzer puppy...well, she's about 8 mos. old now...but I've only had my vet groom her...so I was looking for a new place, as going to the vet's is not always the "happiest" time for her. I saw the reviews here on Yelp and decided to try Castle K-9. When I called Rosalba, she invited me to come check out the business before booking an appointment. They showed me where they bathed the dogs, the products they used, and answered any questions I had very willingly. The thing I liked best is that I only had to drop her off for a few hours, not all day, so she wasn't stuck in a tiny cage for hours waiting for me to pick her up. When I did pick her up, she was the cleanest I've seen her yet!! She looked beautiful and had the most gorgeous, soft, fluffy fur. I just had to ask them to take the bow out of her hair. ;-) I think this is a very responsible and high quality grooming business, and I will definitely be using them again!! read more
