What a shock it was to come across this place when bringing my friend to Snelling. He and I were amazed at its beauty and welcoming energy.

Birthday girl had a great time exploring, playing and eating. The team were so easy to work with from the email correspondence on my Cinnamoroll themed table vision to day of set up. The staff were super quick & accommodating when they were assisting me with the set up. They helped me string up and put a HBD banner and set up my little one's high chair and way more like help bring stuff in, stock the drink fridge, set out the pastries, etc. They just knew what to do & did it straight away. I was amazed by the speed and professionalism! If only I had this level of set up at every birthday party. Barely any dictation or answering questions was needed. What a hugeeee lift off the mental load! There's a dedicated drink fridge in front of the register that kept our drinks chilled and easy for guests to grab. The food table is nice and long so it held a lot of food & we had A LOTT of food. We opted for the photo package too which was nice because usually being the host means you're too busy to take photos and get photos taken of your family. Overall, I highly recommend this place for your little one's special event! I only wish that this place was bigger so that we could invite more friends to our event. However, being smaller means more intimate events and those who are invited should feel super blessed and lucky to have made the cut!

Our group ranged from 11 months to just over 2 years old, and there were plenty of suitable toys for our age group. There were plenty of toys to go around that the kids were not trying to take things from one another. I think if they put a fresh coat of paint on things or maybe invested in some newer toys this place would be 5 stars. With that being said, even in its current state it's still worthwhile coming if you have small children!

So I have very mixed feelings about this place. Some things are incredible. Some things are not…read moreso great. I am a member of the "Legends" club. So that to me means it's top of the line membership as indicated by their pricing and what we get. So I feel I should get top notch deals, pricing and service. Turns out, we get the same shaft as the lower club members. Starting with the good, the location is pristine. Nice area with lots of room for kids and adults to mingle and play. The wine is also pretty darn good. Of course there are some better than others but I enjoy most of their wine. The service is also for the most part very good. The waitstaff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. Their food is also pretty darn good. It's not incredible, and a bit overpriced but it's fine enough. Their wine pricing is also fair (but of course with the highest membership we get the biggest discount). My biggest complaints would be the price gouging and lack of communication. We made arrangements on a Friday to show Sunday with 6 and asked for the "VIP space upgrade to lounge or upstairs Vista Patio Lounge (when available)". They said no problem. When we showed on Sunday they said it was closed with no notice. Just a sorry. OK whatever. We sit inside (6 people and 2 children) and they charge for 2 children a "non drinker" charge of $10 ($5 each). A head count charge for non-drinkers? For children? Total nonsense! I am spending over $1,200 a year here and you want to gouge me for someone's kids? Their tastings are $40 a pop which is really crazy. Our price is waived on this so that's fine but if you are not a member you are paying a lot for a little. The wines do take a bit of time to come and they don't give you a lot. Kind of a bummer waiting for the taste. We ended up with 4 appetizers (sliders $24, Charcuterie $25, Tater Tots $12 and Pretzel Bites with Grilled Sausage $16) 2 bottles of wine and $4.25 for water and the bill was over $250. Oh and top that off, with 6 people, they charge a mandatory 20% on the bill for a tip and are basing that with taxes (as the button default), not the actual sub-total so they are actually getting about 23%. All in all, I am not sure that the cost is worth what you get. I mean we are giving them a lot of money just to be members and then having to pay more and more for anything else that really should be included (like water and kids) makes this place just a bit too over-rated for me. Probably end my club membership in the fall and go someplace that doesn't place money first.

I absolutely love the University Club of Palo Alto!…read more For me, the highlight is the pool. I love swimming here--there's an excellent lap pool where you can sign up for lanes, a diving board for extra fun, and plenty of open swim time for families. Kids can't get enough of the swim team, and there's even a shaded baby pool that's perfect for infants and toddlers. The tennis courts are top of the line, whether you're playing just for fun or competitively. The tennis pros are fantastic, and the whole tennis community here is great. Pickleball is also really taking off--it's always fun and social. The gym has everything you could want: Peloton bikes, free weights, machines, and a full range of classes. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. It's easy to meet people here, and many members end up making lifelong friends. All around, it's a wonderful club--I can't recommend it enough!

The Rose was nice, and the ahi was pretty good, but nothing noteworthy. There have been so many restaurants in that location over the last 25 years, starting back at the Chart House, so I suspect a really perfect dining experience might be required to stay around long term. Hopefully, being open all day will help with success, too.

On our latest visit we were sitting outside when it started raining. We walked inside and asked to move in since we had already ordered our food. At 9:30 a.m. there were only two other customers inside and plenty of open tables. The person who greeted us said, "Hmm, well I'm not sure... we have a big party coming at 11:30." I looked at my watch and replied, "That's two hours from now and there are lots of tables open right now." We got seated, our food arrived, and then it started raining harder. Instead of quietly moving out the couches to add additional tables and chairs, the staff dragged them all across the floor, creating loud scraping noises the entire time. It made for a really unpleasant dining experience. We asked for a little more coffee, but it never came. We even flagged down our server and she just stared at us blankly as if we had never asked. We eventually just got up and left. The food was good, but it doesn't make up for the terrible service and rude treatment.

My favorite part was definitely the koi pond! They have quite a few fish, and it was relaxing just to watch them swim around. I also enjoyed walking on the trails while being surrounded by bamboo. Each ticket to enter costed about $15 online, and they have a lot where you can park for free. Since the gardens are located on a hill, keep in mind that some of the areas are slightly steep. I wish that the trails around the gardens were a bit longer, as it didn't take us too long to walk through the entire estate. Overall, this is a lovely spot if you want to be surrounded by nature and learn a little bit about Japanese culture.
