I visited my primary care physician, Chad Boekes, MD, in Castle Rock, Colorado for a Medicare wellness exam. Everything was great until I went home, logged on to my portal and noticed that he had added 4 to 5 diagnosis that he did not talk to me about. When I inquired about this, he said well I have to add conditions that don't exist or else Medicare won't pay for the diagnostics. Now these fake diagnoses are part of my permanent health record. If the doctor wanted to test for something that was outside of the scope of the wellness exam, he should've asked me and then I would have told him whether I would've been able to pay for it or not. But just to find out by surprise on the portal was not acceptable. As of today still has not been corrected. How can I get them taken off? This is insurance fraud because they are billing Medicare for something that does not exist. Time for a new doctor. I have reported the business to the BBB. They have since locked me out of my Patient Portal. My next call is to Medicare. Check out the other 1-star reviews here; looks like they have been doing this bait-and-switch with insurance companies for some time. Update: I am able to get into my portal and the doctor has deleted all of my previous messages about this and removed the fake diagnoses from my record. He added that we "talked" about these issues during my visit, which was untrue. But, at least I can move on to another doctor without those fake issues on my record. I still have the screen shots of the "real" interaction. Just proceed with caution and watch this practice. I'm glad I was paying attention! read more

Cash patients beware! I just started at this clinic and what a mistake that was. Like everyone else says, it's mostly PAs here not doctors. Mine was very arrogant and insisted that the treatments that other DOCTORS put me on were all wrong. I just held my tongue and kept thinking "this is certainly my last visit with this PA...". He wanted to give me an injection, so I asked the price and he quoted a very reasonable price, and he went ahead and gave me the shot. Later I got a bill for about 400% of the quoted price and have just gotten massive run around. They just keep insisting I pay and there's nothing they can do. So basically, the PAs word is useless and they will pump up the bill after you leave and there's nothing you can do. Buyer beware! I highly suggest you go somewhere else. Just read all the bad reviews that echo billing issues and bad attitudes and you'll get a great sense of this place. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Boekes (my husband sees Dr. Kasunic) for the past 21 years. Dr. Boekes and his team have consistently provided great medical care and communication. He listens, answers my questions, and provides excellent physical and mental health care. I never feel hurried or minimized. When unexpected illness arises, the staff gets me quickly on the schedule. I've also seen Lauren who provides excellent health care. Speaking from my own experience, over many years of excellent health care from Dr. Boekes, Dr. Kasunic, and Staff-- I just want to say THANK YOU. Sound medical care from a practice that is built to maximize their billings. I went in for an annual visit, was recommended a scan of my arteries. Two follow up appointments to review my results and I owe $500 in insurance co-pays. My wife went in for the same as a new patient, but she denied the extra scan and said the visit came to a quick stop with the PA showing no interest in the well patient visit. read more

I have always been happy with the care I have received. I mostly see Kristine L Beck PA-C, who I love. I have been on quite a health journey with her for awhile now. She always takes her time and answers/addresses any of my concerns and questions. We changed insurance, but I still go see her and just pay cash, she is worth it to me. We are currently trying to find an insurance they take so when we retire, we can continue to go there. I did see Dr. Kasunic for a visit and found him to be nice, professional and put me at ease. read more

I have been going here for a couple years. Never had a problem. I changed insurance, and came back. Hoping to go back to Dr. Christine. She had left; and let me tell you. That place has gone DOWNHILL. One, the individual who schedules appointments, Kelly, answers the phone with no enthusiasm, is totally snotty and you can tell she doesn't like her job. I called yesterday to make an appointment at 9:30am to get a procedure done on my foot (Ingrown Toenail). Got a call this morning at 8:30, "Sorry, Dr. Hannah doesn't know how to do that. We are going to have to reschedule" 1. That's not my fault you made the appointment for the wrong doctor 2. I'm in pain and need to get this taken out. Don't waste your time here. read more

Love this place. Tiff always has a warm welcoming greeting. She goes out of her way to help with any type of administrative/insurance work and more. The RNs, NPs, and doctors are always gentle, compassionate, and understanding. One of the best nursing staff I've encountered too- The lollipops after my shot always makes me feel better. Dr Kusanic has been a huge plus in my life. Between communication and setting me on the right path, working with my chaotic schedule, and just working with "me"- I highly recommend this office. read more

If I could rate zero stars, I would. After years @plum creek and outstanding care by Dr. Simon I was forced to change providers due to insurance. Asked to see a primary care physician and got a PA. I have been on a medication for over 15 years with no issues and it's well documented yet when I went into this office for a med check. I felt like a criminal. They didn't pull medical records nor asked many questions about my history. I have always had ADHD and it effects my work enormously. I occasionally travel for work and sometimes need to refill early in order to have enough medication to last me. My last doc understood & made exceptions from time to time. Simple call to work will corroborate) Also, PBM's are aware of this and have a window to allow for this (5 business days) my PA would not make an exception. They also send all other prescriptions to pharmacy electronically yet when prescribing controlled substances they prescribe via paper. They then require you to drive down to their office in order to pick up the paper prescription. Anyone with a normal job can't do this regularly. Because of their outlandish policy I went without PRESCRIBED medication during an important work trip. My bosses noticed that I seemed distracted and even went as far to ask if I had something going on. When i consulted them they couldn't give a shit. I suggest you avoid @ all costs. These people are dangerous, reckless, selfish and straight up rude. Hippocratic oath my ass. It seems as though they place more importance on WHEN and HOW they prescribe instead of what is in their clients best interest. The only logical reason they would have different procedures for prescribing different medications would be to avoid raising any red flags with the DEA. Doctors who do best by their clients understand that life happens and can talk to that with regulators. Doctors who don't make exceptions are normally the ones trying to fly under the radar. I'll be making a formal complaint to the Colorado Medical Board. Below is a summery on the rule. " 155.994 E-Prescribing of Controlled Substances The Colorado Medical Society (CMS) will support the ability of properly licensed physicians to prescribe controlled substance medications using E-prescribing technology. The CMS Delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA) shall bring a similar resolution to the AMA to actively pursue changes in national regulations so that this may occur." Also, this morning (9/19) their front office staff felt it was okay to hang up on me when trying to come to a resolution so I can get my medication. Completely unprofessional. I've been fired from this practice for questioning being told one thing on the exam room, then Jessica Botts turning around and doing something completely different. I specifically asked if she was calling in 6 months worth of medication and she said yes. She then only called in 90 days worth and is denying that she said she would call in 6 months worth. I don't suggest using this practice, but if you do, you need to record your entire conversation with your provider as they are not always honest about the conversation that took place. Good luck trying to get them to return calls. They don't. They have Bible quotes as you walk out of the office but don't seem to abide by what they preach. I would strongly advise to seek your treatment elsewhere as there needs to be trust between patient and provider and trust was definitely broken here. I'm not surprised they only have 2 stars. I really like Dr. Boekes and his staff...but be aware...like most doctors they typically don't run on time. Even first thing in the morning I sometimes wait up to half an hour. BUT, they're worth the wait. Dr. Boekes has been my primary care doc for the better part of 5 years. He has done a really good job of being proactive on my health situation and monitoring my blood work. I recommend them to anyone in the Castle Rock area that is looking for a good primary care doc. read more

Everyone in the office is very nice and accommodating. Dr Boekes has been my primary care physician for over 7 years. I also loved his PA Michelle, who has since moved, but Kerri (replacement) is very nice as well. They are one of the few offices in town that offer early appointments. As with many offices, they can run behind, but I have never waited for more than 30 min. If I make an early appointment, I can expect to be seen within 5 minutes of my scheduled time. I don't feel like I am being rushed in and out, Dr Boekes takes all the time necessary to make an informed diagnosis. Plenty of parking is available and the waiting room always has seats open. read more

Always thought their office staff was rude. My big issue is with their billing practices. They literally threw away my whole family over $106. My daughter has a small balance on a bill, due to them miscoding it to begin with. I was however willing to pay it anyway just to have it cleared. Unfortunately I could not do that because I was in bankruptcy at the time and you are not allowed to pay anyone or it can jeopardize that. I called and explained and apologized profusely. Their response was simply they could no longer see me or any member of my family and continued to harass me for the money. I mailed them copies of the bankruptcy discharge ( a year and a half old now) and to this day they continue to try and collect and even sent me to collections. This office doesn't care about medicine or their patients, they care about their bank accounts. One of my children that they tossed away was on medication that couldn't just be discontinued as they were daily and the office didn't care at all. I never even got a return call from them forcing me to visit ER to get her medication while I waited to get her into a new doctor. THATS NOT A FAMILY PRACTICE read more

The billing practices at this office are very weird. Had to schedule a physical/ wellness visit to get a refill on a medication and come to find out they won't refill my medication and still billed me for the visit even though it was a "wellness" visit. My insurance covered wellness visits at 100%, but they didn't bill it as a "wellness" visit since the doctor discussed "new" issues. It is only $35, but it is the principal of the matter that they didn't boo it correctly. Be very cautious here. read more

I was a patient at this office for nearly 20 years, and the last six times I went I never even saw a doctor. That would include when I was diagnosed with type two diabetes, and still all I saw was a physicians assistant. She recommended that I go see a specialist as they are a primary care provider, and that is exactly what I did. When I tried to schedule a physical shortly after that, I was told that the specialist that I chose (at their insistence) was a primary care provider and they could not see me while I was seeing another primary care provider. Since they refused to see me, I saw the other doctor two times, and was not happy with them. Today I called back to try and change back to them and they refused to accept me as a client because I had seen another doctor here in Castle Rock. It was because of their poor communication that I ever went to the other doctor in the first place. Sadly, I know one of the doctors outside of work and when I called back to the office to have Dr B call me they refused to forward my message to him. I thought all Doctors took the medical oath. Clearly the office staff here is not required to do so. The nicest adjectives I have for the "ladies" that answer the phone are rude, nasty, stupid, and vindictive. It is a sad day in this country when you cannot walk into a doctors office, where you were a patient for almost 20 years, with money and insurance and be told that "we do not want you". read more

I wet there years ago for a broken wrist. The staff checked me in and put me in a room. After 20 minutes of waiting alone in the exam room, I walked out to try and find someone to see how much longer I would have to wait for X-ray. What I found out was that everyone left for lunch and either forgot I was there or didn't care that I was there. I believe they didn't care to keep me waiting. This morning my husband had an 8:30 appointment. ( Even after me begging him many times to find a competent doctor.) He woke up really dizzy so I drove him. We were 7 minutes late. Josh, his PA was very rude to him about being late. How many times did he make my husband or other patients wait and not even a sorry? My husband was so furious when he got in the car, it was shocking to me! The things he told me that Josh said to him were so unprofessional and ignorant. They do not care about his health, all they want to do is push pills. PLEASE PLEASE NOT GO THERE! read more

Virtual care: my husband and I provided updated insurance. Dr Boekes prescribed medications through Optum RX. So. My husband's medivations filled and sent. Mune... not. They charged $5,000 for my medication. Why... Dr Boekes office used our insurance for my husband and simply ignored me. Our telemedicine was similar... kindness toward my husband and I was treated like an annoyance. Yhe medication issue confirmed the crappy behavior from him and his staff. I'll start this off by saying I am not generally a complainer, really I'm not. I know those people are out there, and I am not one of them. I have been a patient at Castle Rock Family Physicians for a couple of years and my husband has been a patient there for more than 10 years. I moved there when Plum Creek Medical closed their doors. I have always liked both Dr. Boekes and Dr. Kasunic. But for many years both my husband and I have had horrible issues with both the front and back office staff. Ranging from rude receptionists to wrong lab draws (that I still had to pay for), it has been horrible! Not on just one or two occasions, but on several. The receptionist has been annoyed with me in the past for specifically wanting to see my own doctor! Why did we stay? Because we liked the providers and, for a while, it was easier than transferring care. Not any more, it's just not worth it. This was the last straw. I was recently seen for my routine med check. I had labs drawn and was given samples for a couple weeks until my labs returned. After a couple of weeks, I called. The rude receptionist informed me I would need another appointment to discuss my medication and get it filled. Uh, I have been on this medication for 19 years now. I told her this didn't sound right and should not have to pay another co-pay and make another appointment. She came back with the same response probably no less than 5 times. I asked to speak with preferably Dr. Kasunik or at least someone from the back office and she very rudely told me "fine, I'll pass it along, but they will tell you the same thing," I work no less than 60 hours per week. Another, unnecessary, appointment is difficult and not warranted. Dr. Kasunik's medical assistant, Sheila, did in fact call me back. She was very short and stated I would need another appointment. I explained again that I had just been in. I also if this could go by Dr. Kasunik. No response other than I needed an appointment. I will reinforce that this is not a new medication and my lab was within normal limits. I am not ignorant to the system as I have worked in healthcare for 22 years now. I am a healthcare provider and not only do I understand the process of appointments, labs and medication prescribing, I also understand what customer service is. I am not in any way saying the patient (aka customer) is always right. But there is a right and wrong way to handle issues. I made one last call to the office today. I was on the phone with the front office receptionist for almost 9 minutes. I tried to calmly and politely state my case, thinking (again), maybe there were misunderstanding in what I was needing. She let me know they would no longer see me in their office. That was pretty frustrating but just as well I think. While I do like the care that Dr. Kasunik and Dr. Boekes provide, the office staff is downright horrible. There are plenty of other good providers in the area. I understand the office staff probably doesn't care much about complaints. They are primarily hourly employees who probably think "good riddance" to people who have complaint. But I'm guessing Dr. Kasunik and Dr. Boekes might care if their practice is losing business due to poor customer service. This may not sound like the biggest deal, but I promise you it is. The short, rude attitudes I have had from them on several occasions is so frustrating. And so condescending, and it's really insulting. read more

I have lived in Castle Rock for over 10 years and I can save you a lot of trouble (and perhaps your very life)-- do not go to this doctors office. They run the office horribly like a motor vehicles department-- I went to this office for about 2 years. I went in last week with chest pain and symptoms of a heart attack and they prescribed me an inhaler. The doctor told me "it is not your heart". Well on Monday I went to ER with a heart attack that had been going on for days. I ended up being saved at the ER in Castle Rock. After contacting them about the huge error they made that nearly cost me my life they "terminated me as a patient!" Trust me-- choose ANY other office to see a doctor. This is a warning. read more

If i could rate a 0 i would. The front desk people are incredibly rude and have no concern for their customers whatsoever. I spoke with Kelly on the phone who had left me a voicemail regarding me needing to come in before I could get my prescription refilled. As I get on the phone with her, she tells me that she cannot schedule me because i am on a certain insurance that they do not take.. which I was unaware that I needed an appointment because I had one 3 months ago which I explained to her, asking her if I could speak with my physician which she refused to let me speak with. One thing about working as a front desk associate is to speak to your customers with respect and the way she was speaking towards me rubbed me the wrong way and I will no longer be coming to this physician office for anything ever again. read more

Terrible customer service! I wish I would have read these reviews before booking an appointment. Luckily my wife and I decided to check the reviews shortly after booking and decided, we better just avoid this place and go elsewhere. When we called to cancel our appointment we were surprised by how extremely rude they actually were. We didn't mention why or that we wouldn't reschedule we simply said we need to cancel our appointments and it was like dealing with a angry librarian... they even had the audacity to send us a $50 bill each ($100 together) for cancelling! Expensive lesson learned, but glad these people aren't advising on our health. read more

I've been going to CR Family Physicians for 20 years - including my wife and 2 sons. Dr. K, Dr. B, Kristine Beck and others have been truly exceptional to me and my family - with the highest care I could ever hope for. For example, I tore a bicep tendon and Kristine diagnosed it quickly, coordinated surgery and called from her personal phone to follow up...on a weekend. If you're expecting the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton consumer experience, go to one of the brand new hospitals and expect a corresponding bill. If you want top notch health care from people that care with high integrity, CR Family Physicians and Heart Institute is a great place to go. read more

This the worst doctors office I ever been to. I had left 3 messages for the PA to call me back and today I called again and the receptionist answered and I had told her if she can have the message delivered to her and she said that I never left her a message. Since I'm no longer a patient she doesn't need to give her anything. I got a large bill from Labcorp and my health insurance recommended me to have the PA that requested the labs to appeal. The receptionist will not give her my messages. I also had a physical done and was charged co-pay and my insurance stated that I was being examined for my cervix when I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. Be careful with this doctors office they are money hungry they charge the insurance for stuff they don't even do. Stay away from them read more

Extremely rude staff. The doctors order expensive tests that have nothing to do with the issue you saw them about. They refuse service to patients if you raise any sort of concerns about the service, or their policies. I would rather travel to another city to be seen by a real professional. read more

My husband found Dr. Kasunic to be condescending (told him he was faking his symptoms...if only), sloppy (told my husband he'd be back in but then wrote that he didn't need to come back in in the file so it was a big "thing" with the nurse), and outright sexist "well you're not a blue eyed blonde so I guess you'll understand". I really love this Dr's office. I've gotten such great care and accommodation here. There's one receptionist I've dealt with who hasn't had a very good sense of customer service, but the other receptionists and all the doctors here are wonderful. I've seen Dr. Beck for physicals, and women's health check up's and she's a wonderful physicians assistant. She's a warm presence, and is definitely a great listener. She will let you say everything you need to, and have great follow up questions. She really keeps your health in focus, and gives you several different options-- and doesn't just stick you with one. Not only that but she's also got a knack for making you feel comfortable. With moving around so often, I've had some serious misses with physicians I've been seeing but Dr. Beck was wonderful! The technicians here are also very friendly. Overall, great place. read more

I love Dr. Kasunic. I've been seeing him for 3 years and I feel we have a good rapport. He's taken care of all my issues and we're working on making one of the major ones go away. Like another reviewer, I try to get early morning appts. so wait time is minimal. I do NOT care for the office staff tho or for Dr. Kausnics med assistant since Marla left. The front desk people are overworked and underskilled. There's been a lot of turnover there and it's been a mess for the past year. A lot of turnover in the lab area as well, but at least they're more personable. read more

We have been with CRFP for 5 yrs and have had good care from Kristine Beck, but the office staff has been harsh to my daughter, who is 21, for the last couple of yrs. They cancelled her appt with a phone message because they thought she only needed shots, when in reality she really wanted to see her provider! Then they filled the appt without talking to her first! She really needed to see her provider and she's been waiting to talk to her. They pretty much told her too bad. When my daughter turned 18, we changed the phone number to her cell number, but they keep calling my number for everything! We constantly tell them they are calling the wrong number. We have private out of network insurance and it's been a nightmare for them to deal with it. And it's so simple to call the number on the back of the card and talk to our insurance. They refuse and always give us a bad attitude about it and now they want us to pay for the visit up front, instead of simply calling the number on the card. I guess it's just the attitude of the office staff and the person who answers the phone, it's terrible and not very friendly at all. We are going to switch offices today. read more

There are a couple of things people should be aware of before going to this practice. The first is that they keep the exit door near the check out desk locked from the outside, meaning you cannot leave unless the office staff behind the desk push a button unlocking the door. So they basically lock you in until you pay and reschedule. This is an obvious safety issue and I'm surprised their patients tolerate it. The second is that they are a Christian practice and apparently quite defensive about it. When I noticed the bible verse on the wall and another Christian wall hanging, I simply asked the check out staff if this was a faith based practice. I was told "I wouldn't say that, but the owner, Dr. Kasunic, is a very religious man." I said literally nothing else, did not indicate in any way I had a problem with this, I simply asked a question. Less than a week later, I received a letter from them stating "We understand you have a problem receiving medical care at a Christian facility" and stating they would no longer provide medical care for me. So the other stories on here of people getting "fired" as patients after complaining about anything or bringing any issues to their attention is completely accurate. I would not trust this practice with my own or my family's medical care. read more

Wait times are ridiculous! I have never had an appointment when I didn't have to wait at least 30 minutes in addition to up to 45 minutes in the exam room waiting for the physicians. read more

This place is a joke. It's like pulling teeth to get in to see an actual physician, so you always end up stuck with a PA. I went in with a neck rash that eneded up being shingles and when the PA couldn't figure out what was going on she asked if I'd been choked. Seriously!?!? Then I went in with leg swelling and pain and all they kept doing is sending me for ultrasounds and pumping me full of different antibiotics. When I continued going back because NOTHING was working they'd continue to switch antibiotics and order another ultrasound. It just so happens one ultrasound showed an inconclusive result and they just ran with the idea that I had a blood clot that was somehow missed on the first THREE ultrasounds. They slapped me with xarelto and low and behold that wasn't the issue either. They never listen to you. They just slap you with medication to get you out the door and don't actually care for your well being or to actually figure out what the real issue is. And don't even get me started on the office staff. That's a whole other mess in itself! Extremely incompetent people that only care about your money and not your health. PLEASE if you are considering this place look elsewhere! I've since found a much better practice and that I wish I would have found sooner! read more

I went to this office for several years before comparing their procedures with other physicians. I always have blood work done with my annual physical which substantiates the mundane meds I have taken for 20+ years. However they will not refill prescriptions 6 months later unless I get another full blood screen panel. (This panel is not paid for & is $245 out of my pocket) Subsequent to that they insist on an office visit for "med consultation" before they will refill a mail in prescription. They also have a couple tests that are insisted on which will often times be out of pocket. These tests are run regularly when other practices may do them only due to a medical condition. We have been going to this office for YEARS but it has slowly gone down hill. It is now to the point that if we call to ask questions, we only get rude, snarky, unhelpful replies. Everyone I have been seen by rush through everything and don't seem to actually care about me as a person, but instead care about seeing as many people as possible in one day. Nothing is explained. Prescription are the biggest pain if you ever need them to change the pharmacy. I have also heard that many people that complain are then "fired" as a patient and refused further care.
