I do not recommend this rink. Looks great on the outside, but that's definitely where majority of the budget went. The bathrooms don't even have stall doors? they have shower curtains. Slushies tasted and smelled horrible. If you bring your own skates, they do not let you bring black stoppers as it will leave marks their floor. (which is quite frankly already messy looking) The rental sizes are weirdly made, and most wheels are either too loose or get stuck. The playlist was good and people can request songs, but there's definitely more cons then pros. As someone who's been to multiple rinks, this one is the worst by far. Expected way better from how it looked online. read more

Okay the pricing is wonderful, it's cheap. but the experience is horrible. my family got slushies and just let me tell you, those things tasted, looked, and definitely smelled absolutely disgusting. they literally taste like rotten moldy popcorn with ice cubes with bugs in them and 2 drops of inedible coloring. do not go here if you value your wellbeing. also the rentals, horrible. some wheels don't turn on blades, some wheels are nearly detaching. also apparently you can't have black stoppers on your skates? i guess it's to keep the rink clean? but the rink was still dirty absolutely insane. also the bathrooms? they literally have curtains instead of doors. what is this?? spent 13 million dollars on the outside for the inside to be garbage? the actual skating is good just bring your own skates and don't order any food. overall, pretty bad and wouldnt come here again even if it was free. read more

I definitely recommend picking a different rink. It may look nice on the outside but it's not great on the inside. This rink is pretty nice other than their shower curtains instead of bathroom doors in the bathrooms which these give you no privacy , horrible smelling slushies and they tasted like absolute trash, the rollerblade rentals suck and you can barely skate. They are also almost 3sizes to big. And most dumb thing you can't bring skates in if have black stoppers So I had to skate in trash roller blades. read more

I have bauer skates, been skating for years. Been too multiple skating rinks in PA/MD/NY/NJ and never had an issue getting in with my family and I get rejected from there skate check at the door because I dont have stoppers, my wife had black stoppers. Let's be honest most are falling down scraping your floor with the boot of the rental skates which are black hard plastic making marks. I go skating every weekend at the Gretna roller rink and wanted to try something new on a Wednesday before the weekend when I skate at Gretna. I guess you won't get our business. read more

Didn't even get in the door. I have skated all my life and have an expensive pair of skates that were "not allowed" because no black toe stoppers. I don't have toe stoppers, I have black toe PLUGs that don't even touch the floor. Doesn't matter. Not allowed. Also, my daughter has inline hockey skates that "NEEDED breaks" in order to be used. Only problem. They don't come with breaks. How do I put breaks on skates that don't have any way to add them? Oh, I know why you have these rules. To force people to spend the extra money on your rentals. This is why skating is dying. You lost my business and money and will spread the word to not skate here until the "policy" changes. read more

I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed myself here. The reviews did not do this place justice. The staff was nice and left you alone to skate, the place was clean and run efficiently. The bathrooms have curtains for doors but it was not uncomfortable. The bathrooms also have big and small toilets for the kids. There is a small area to get food and a small area for games. The games give a small amount of tickets but they have a little shop to cash in tickets for small toys and candy. This is a legit roller skate rink. I took lots of photos to update the yelp profile. I almost didn't go here because the lack of photos. My family and I went here on a Saturday for family skate between 2-5 and paid about $50 for the four of us with renting skates. The place was not crowded and there was a good mix of small kids, middle school, and a small amount of high school kids. We will be back. read more

The Castle has been a Lancaster staple since I was a teen, and trust me that was a long time! Long gone are the days of the overnight skate. I've had many of good nights at those and for oblivious reasons (teens + overnight + co-ed) they were discontinued long ago. My kids as teens enjoyed the occasional Fri or Sat night skate over the years. It's a right of passage if you live in Lancaster. And who hasn't won one of their free skate parties for 50 people? Over the years the crowds at the Fri/Sat night skate as deteriorated some. While they try their best to keep out the troublemakers when you have that many teens in one area with that much adrenaline things are bound to get out of hand. If you have little ones or are looking for a more family orientated environment stay clear of those nights. I do like their facility and little has changed since the 80's. The food is still frozen crap but very affordable and what teens like to eat. They still do the limbo, the hokey pokey, and backwards skate. They also have a few arcade games, skate rental, and a skate shop. Don't forget the pickle pops - a Popsicle made of pickle juice, sounds disgusting but it works! It's also rather easy to win one of those 50 free skate parties and if you provide your mailing address you get free admission offers in the mail quite frequently. If you have a toddler either bring your own skates or bring a few pairs of socks. The smallest toddler size is a 7 and they are in very short supply. Also ask to get the wheels tightened of inexperienced skaters. Three stars because I think they play better music at Overlook and prefer the wood floor there over the regular floor here. The food is rather crappy. Wish they would have at least some healthier options. Also after all these years and considering moms and dads come here too wish they would do away with their tiny toilets and shower curtains-for-doors in the restrooms. It's hard enough balancing yourself on skates in middle age yet alone squatting to reach a toilet sized for a Smurf, in skates no less! read more

This unprofessional establishment charged us for tickets and falsely advertised that they were open, but when we arrived the parking lot was empty, they were closed with the doors locked, and wouldn't even answer our calls. We went online and it said it was still open. The only indication that they weren't open was a hand written note on the door.. a hand. written. note. It's absurd how this establishment is still up and running with its unprofessional and absolutely horrific and obscene staff. FIX IT NOW. You ruined my friend's birthday party and shes crying in the car with tears running down her face. read more

We attended a party on a week night and there wasn't much of a crowd. The facility is very clean and the staff is extremely helpful. My family and I a very nice time skating together. What is perplexing about this roller rink is they really aren't interested in letting people use their own skates. Plan on renting no matter what. On first visit I carried in my inline skates that I have used to teach lessons for nearly 10 years at roller rinks in Kansas and Oklahoma--rinks of similar size and quality as Castle. The window attendant asked to inspect my skates and said they were not allowed on the floor because they didn't have a stopper. Really? Most inline skates sold don't have a stopper. When pressed further on this policy--it is a unique policy in my experience--a manager indicated that "it's a liability issue." So, if you go to The Castle and you are able to get your personal skates approved for use on their floor, let me know how you made that happen--particularly if you own inline skates. read more

To me, the Castle is missing the retro vibe that I've found in most other rinks I've gone to. Very new and clean, and seems sort of geared more toward children and families, but still, an enjoyable experience for all ages. The one time I went, it was packed with people, seemingly more people than the floor could accommodate comfortably. But then again, I am one to get nervous about skating with a big group of people around me, so that definitely factored into my feelings about it. Not a bad experience overall, but I likely will not return--it's out of the way for me, and not exactly my cup of tea. read more

The line wrapped around the front of the building to get in and when you go to pay, there is a bouncer there directing traffic. This place gets packed on Saturday open skates and is just scary. I can only imagine what it is like during their night sessions. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE for TWO HUGE reasons: 1. They will flunk your BRAND NEW blades on purpose to get more money out of you!! My whole family had new blades and we could not use them because we took the stoppers off and the stopper we did have on was not the "acceptable color" And they charge $5 extra to rent blades!! You read right - $5.00 a peace!! 2. The second reason it's a terrible place is because they charged my 17 month old son $6 and HE DON'T SKATE!! Then to put the icing on the cake LOL with 15 minutes left to go in the 3 hour session they charged my 17 month old full price to rent skates!! (I thought I would put a pair on him for the first time in his life). The place is a TOTAL Rip off. read more

Saturday night, the line was long and not moving quickly at all. Turns out they are using a metal detector type wand on everybody that comes in on Saturday nights. The fact that they had to do that makes me wonder about how safe this place really is. My family arrived at 8 pm for the session, didn't make it though the line until 8:40 pm with skating ending at 10:30 and still charging FULL price. What a ripoff!! And, once I get through the line, I find out that I can't have my e-cigarette in my coat pocket of all things. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I can go through airport security and am allowed to keep my e-cig on my person with no issue. This place needs to get an education and get with the times. What a stupid rule! I use to go skating as a teen at Castle Roller Skating rink and I took my boys there when they were younger and taught them how to skate. While I don't really like the concrete floors because of how much they can hurt when you fall, I do like the staff and the rules-even getting checked by a metal detector wand to keep weapons out-people are safer because of it. As with every place you go, you will have people that start drama, cuss, pushing or shoving little ones into the walls, and love to start fighting-but that's not the skating rink's fault-that is the people who do these things. My teenage sons go there all of the time and for the most part they have fun and it's somewhere they can go without mom breathing down their necks! They love the music that is played and it's great exercise for them. I like Tuesday evenings with all Christian music too! This is a pretty good place to go with your children-regardless of how old the skater is! read more
