‼‼‼‼‼I had the most heartbreaking and traumatizing experience in this clinic, and I want to warn…read moreevery pet owner: never bring your animals here, especially small pets like guinea pigs or rabbits. Early in the morning, I saw my guinea pig was very sick and not eating. I panicked and called several clinics to ask if they treat small animals. This clinic told me: "Yes, bring her now, it's an emergency, we can help." Relieved, I rushed over, believing they would save her. I arrived at 9 AM. A man at reception took my pet away, and for the next 2.5 hours I sat with no updates, no communication, no idea what was happening. I kept saying it was urgent, but they just told me to wait. Finally, a doctor spoke to me -- without even bringing my pet -- and started talking about stomach problems, then immediately said the cost would be $3000. When I asked for details or a price list, he left. Later, staff came in with two different papers: * The first showed $216 for a "consultation" plus $188 for cremation. * The second showed $216 for a "consultation" plus costs for treatment and medications. It felt like they were literally giving me a choice: either pay for cremation, or pay for treatment. I even asked: "If you are already suggesting cremation, does that mean treatment won't help? Is it already too late?" They reassured me: "No, it's not too late. Treatment will help. You just need to give the medicines." Of course, since the price difference between cremation and treatment wasn't very big, and because this was our beloved pet, we chose treatment, trusting their words. But every 15-20 minutes the numbers kept changing -- $500, then $600, then suddenly $411. They seemed to invent prices out of thin air. Desperate to save my pet, I agreed to treatment. After more waiting, they gave her back to me in a box. She was lying still, breathing heavily, clearly struggling. I begged them to check her, but they said: "It's fine, go home." Within 15 minutes of leaving the clinic, after giving only the first medications they prescribed, my beloved guinea pig went into seizures and died in my arms. The same clinic that promised me she would be okay, that took hundreds of dollars from me, had let her suffer for hours and then die. When I came back crying, with my child crying beside me, they quickly pulled me into a private room so other clients wouldn't hear. They said: "Sorry, sorry, it's not our fault." Then they demanded $300 for cremation. After arguing, they told me they would refund $80 for the medicines, then changed it to $150, and then told me I would only need to pay $24 more for cremation. Finally, they said: "Actually, don't pay anything for cremation -- but you will not get any refund either." The numbers kept changing every time, as if they were inventing them on the spot. I spent from 9 AM until nearly 1 PM in this nightmare. My pet suffered for 3.5 hours while they played with numbers and gave me false hope. Instead of telling me honestly that they couldn't help, they strung me along, took my money, and handed me back my pet already dying. To make things worse, while I sat in the waiting room devastated, I overheard staff laughing and celebrating someone's birthday. It was clear saving my animal was never their priority. I cannot shake the feeling that they took advantage of me because I am an immigrant and my English is not strong. They saw an opportunity to overcharge me and gave me no clear information, no transparent price list, no real compassion. My guinea pig went into this clinic alive. She left dead. And all they cared about was money. Please, if you love your pets, do not bring them here. This clinic is cruel, unprofessional, and heartless. They gave me false hope, drained me financially, and let my pet die in pain. It is a nightmare I never want another family to experience.

Quite a few years ago, they used to be good; they used to use anesthetic gas through a mask and would even let the pet owner be with their pet during the euthanizing process. Now that they chamber them, they don't allow you to be with your pet during their final moments of consciousness (likely because they don't want you to see how disturbing what they're doing is). Between this questionable policy of theirs and their very high costs (and a few other unsettling interactions with them), I'd say it's best to avoid this place.

They were empathetic, and took time to break down costs and work with me to meet her care needs with In my budget. The over all cost of the procedure was still expensive, but VERY reasonable, especially considering all the medications, surgical procedure, cone, and after care medicines. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was not able to be with my dog, but I felt very comfortable with leaving her at the clinic. The staff are friendly and I feel that they genuinely care very much about their patients. They took time to throughly answer my questions and concerns. In addition, I dealt with the manager, Jessica who was possibly the most impolite human being I have ever talked to. That is how your company deals with things? By going on power trips and saying they will apply a do not service to my account instead of addressing my issues? Ridiculous.

This is a…read morelong story, but I hope it helps, so no one else has to experience my horrible pain, of losing my baby girl. Nov 1st, I brought my 11 month old baby chihuahua Sasha. I told the vet on the phone that she had the stumach flu. I said what services I needed and was told that she would have a basic visit for $75 and then we can discuss the medicine or injections to help. They took her to the back. They also, did not tell me what they were doing, and didn't let me in to see, they said they had a plan for $750. Then I said it was expensive, I had to discuss this. They went and did that they want. I heard someone talk about euthanasia, then I was asked for that and I said NO! 15 minutes pass, then they let me in. I said the $750 is fine, then they say it's too late for that now it's the $500 plan. I wanted to help her be normal from the stumach flu. At this point I had no idea what they did to Sasha. As communication was bad. I was later told they injected her with "" epinephrine" I imagined at the time it must be an antibiotic but it is not, that is to my horror 'ADRENALINE", without even testing her to see if she is allergic to this all this happening without my consent even after the phone conversation and physical conversation, doing what they want they also put foreign objects into her body by putting air support. You need my CONSENT! I had called for her "STOMACH FLU". She's NOT my first dog! and I RECOGNIZE a stumach flu! "Epinephrine is Adrenaline"a very potent drug that can kill an animal with a heart attack, Sasha was tired and weak from the stomach flu she didn't need to be jolted into a horse race!! and have her breathing messed with, or her body in any way. She is so tiny! Sasha's HEART was beating so fast when I left that she "DIED" in the car on the way to another animal hospital, I was horrified at what they had done, they killed her. They KILLED my dog. If they had any sense, they would have instead given her antibiotics, vitamin injections and saline and then putting her in an incubator to stay warm. This was my impression from the catfish $$$ phone discussion. They instead had her on a cold metal table with no warmth, causing her tiny heart to beat like a bullet, they "ULTIMATELY" performed with very reckless choices. This place, says animal hospital, well after the damage they admitted it is not equipped to help her, yet they have a big sign outside that says animal hospital. (((WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE))): (was to give Sasha antibiotics, a vitamin injection, saline and an incubator to keep her warm. Most likely an overnight stay. Also some antibiotics to take home.) THEY DID NOT HELP HER!!! they did what they wanted!!! Made some $$$ "AGAINST " my consent!!! I attatched a picture of my murdered dead baby Sasha also one of her alive so you understand what she looked like before these animals killed her. I never signed anything here, or gave permission for these extremely inappropriate actions. If they had any integrity, they would have told me the moment I arrived they were not equipped to help Sasha, and not create situations to try and justify charging me $500. They could have followed real stomach flu protocol. To give services requested, what I ask, not what they want, because it was disorganized and a secret gong show. They also said she would die, of course she was going to die after they messed with her lungs and who knows what else while they did what they want in the back and also by putting stuff in her heart with adrenaline. This was very crooked, because they had no right to do anything at all if they were not prepared as they later admitted. Sasha's tiny little heart kept beating so fast. It stopped, My little girl looked at me crying, I died that moment. Her heart stopped because of the Adrenaline from the epinephrine they injected into her without my consent. These foolish people, should have said they were not capable, but instead recklessly killed her. Earlier this year I lose my son. Sasha, was the light that kept me going. Now I have no family. They took her from me. My baby girl. My innocent little Sasha. These guys also censor posts on other networks so that people like me, our voice's and experiences are unheard.

My veterinarian submitted a full and thorough referral, including all relevant medical records, history, and lab work. Everything was done correctly on our end. I then personally spoke to a staff member at VCA Care Centre and clearly explained that we were dealing with a possible cancer diagnosis. I even asked directly about CT imaging. And yet -- despite all of that -- they booked us into the wrong department. Let that sink in. A pet with a likely cancer diagnosis... and they scheduled us with the completely wrong team because no one bothered to actually read the referral or listen to what I said. And instead of owning that mistake, they tried to deflect and blame my vet -- who did his job perfectly. To make things even more outrageous, I waited an hour and a half to speak to the manager in person, only to be met with coldness, defensiveness, and absolutely zero accountability. Not even an apology. No urgency. No plan to fix it. This wasn't a mix-up about nail trims or routine bloodwork. This is a case involving a potentially life-threatening condition, and their complete failure to act responsibly may have cost my dog valuable time. If you care about your pet and expect a specialty care center to treat urgent cases with the seriousness they deserve -- stay far away from VCA Care Centre in Calgary. The system is broken, the staff is careless, and the leadership lacks even the most basic empathy or professionalism. They should be ashamed.
