I had a deeply traumatic experience at this clinic with my dog Rhea on August 25…read more Rhea was brought in after giving birth and was in critical condition. I understand that her medical condition was very serious. My concern is not only about the outcome, but about the communication, consent process, documentation, and the way we were treated during the euthanasia decision. We asked about other options, including continuing treatment and transferring Raya to another emergency/specialty clinic. I did not feel that we were given a real voluntary choice. Police were called and were present in the room while we were crying, overwhelmed, and trying to understand our options. I felt pressured into signing the euthanasia consent form. Afterward, I requested Rhea's full medical records. The first package did not include all documents, and only after multiple follow-up emails did I receive additional monitoring records, handwritten order forms, and communication logs that were not included initially. I also requested clarification about audio recordings made during our conversations. Losing Rhea was already devastating. The way this situation was handled made it even more painful. I am now seeking review through the appropriate channels. In my opinion, pet owners deserve clear communication, transparency, and compassion during emergencies. I did not feel that we received that.

After months of him being sick and opting for surgery in the hopes that he could be saved it did not work out in our favour. Through out our experience with the Western Veterinary Centre, there was nothing but compassion and respect for myself and my husband and our furry family member. I'm already the Humane Society they could pay the vet bill if I can't afford two grand and I wasn't gonna let my dog die so being selfless, I did sign the paper of the biggest hardest thing I ever did and then after that, they tried to charge me with abandonment and send the byelaw after me. I had to go to court to prove that I wasn't neglected after all they just decided to drop it all yeah it was the saddest time in my life. I don't recommend this anything vca and the city of Calgary. If it's VCA avoid it with your pet no good if you wanna lose your pet that's a good place to do it.

They were empathetic, and took time to break down costs and work with me to meet her care needs with In my budget. The over all cost of the procedure was still expensive, but VERY reasonable, especially considering all the medications, surgical procedure, cone, and after care medicines. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was not able to be with my dog, but I felt very comfortable with leaving her at the clinic. The staff are friendly and I feel that they genuinely care very much about their patients. They took time to throughly answer my questions and concerns. I'm so pleased that I will be switching to make this clinic my regular vet. Thanks for taking such good care of my best friend!

That is how your company deals with things? By going on power trips and saying they will apply a do not service to my account instead of addressing my issues? Ridiculous.

They will take your pet upon arrival to have an assessment and prognosis on the next steps for your pet. Well my baby wasn't doing well and brought her here to have a look at. I did phone ahead and they were waiting and ready upon my arrival, took my baby in immediately. Very hi tech facility with new state of the art equipment for your pet. Very friendly and compassionate staff as well as helpful. Told me to wait in the waiting room and as soon as the vet takes a look they will place me in a room where the vet will give me my options on the prognosis of my baby's ailment. Vet was very helpful and honest on the options that were given to us. If your pet needs to stay for observation you can book an appointment to have visit with your baby. By the way my baby is doing very well now. They took very good care of my baby. This Animal Hospital is new and has been at this location since August 2024. Other then emergency pet care they have a wide selection of good quality pet food. Do recommend coming here for pet emergencies. -inside is very clean and new -plenty of parking

My dog Ruby passed away while receiving emergency care at this hospital. This was an extremely…read moreupsetting experience, and after reviewing her medical records and timeline, I have serious concerns about how her case was handled. Ruby was at the hospital from approximately 7 a.m. until around 4 p.m. According to the records I received, her condition and vital signs changed during her hospitalization. I am concerned about the timing of the response to those changes and about the management of her respiratory condition. Her records also document tracheal collapse, and the radiology findings raised additional concerns for me. I repeatedly communicated that I wanted the veterinary team to do what was medically necessary for Ruby and that I would pay for her treatment. During this emergency, however, I was contacted about additional costs and asked to make payments before further treatment proceeded. From my perspective, too much valuable time was spent discussing and processing payment while Ruby was critically ill. Ruby ultimately suffered cardiac arrest and died at the hospital. I cannot say with certainty what the outcome would have been with different treatment, but after reviewing the medical timeline, I have serious questions about whether interventions could have been escalated sooner. Another part of the experience that was particularly painful occurred immediately after Ruby died. While I was holding her and grieving, I was approached about paperwork. Given what had just happened, I found the timing extremely insensitive. I paid approximately $3,000 for Ruby's care. More importantly, I trusted this hospital with a member of my family during a medical emergency. I am sharing my experience because I believe other pet owners should ask detailed questions about treatment plans, timing of interventions, and payment requirements when bringing a critically ill animal here. Ruby was deeply loved, and losing her that day was devastating.

This is a…read morelong story, but I hope it helps, so no one else has to experience my horrible pain, of losing my baby girl. Nov 1st, I brought my 11 month old baby chihuahua Sasha. I told the vet on the phone that she had the stumach flu. I said what services I needed and was told that she would have a basic visit for $75 and then we can discuss the medicine or injections to help. They took her to the back. They also, did not tell me what they were doing, and didn't let me in to see, they said they had a plan for $750. Then I said it was expensive, I had to discuss this. They went and did that they want. I heard someone talk about euthanasia, then I was asked for that and I said NO! 15 minutes pass, then they let me in. I said the $750 is fine, then they say it's too late for that now it's the $500 plan. I wanted to help her be normal from the stumach flu. At this point I had no idea what they did to Sasha. As communication was bad. I was later told they injected her with "" epinephrine" I imagined at the time it must be an antibiotic but it is not, that is to my horror 'ADRENALINE", without even testing her to see if she is allergic to this all this happening without my consent even after the phone conversation and physical conversation, doing what they want they also put foreign objects into her body by putting air support. You need my CONSENT! I had called for her "STOMACH FLU". She's NOT my first dog! and I RECOGNIZE a stumach flu! "Epinephrine is Adrenaline"a very potent drug that can kill an animal with a heart attack, Sasha was tired and weak from the stomach flu she didn't need to be jolted into a horse race!! and have her breathing messed with, or her body in any way. She is so tiny! Sasha's HEART was beating so fast when I left that she "DIED" in the car on the way to another animal hospital, I was horrified at what they had done, they killed her. They KILLED my dog. If they had any sense, they would have instead given her antibiotics, vitamin injections and saline and then putting her in an incubator to stay warm. This was my impression from the catfish $$$ phone discussion. They instead had her on a cold metal table with no warmth, causing her tiny heart to beat like a bullet, they "ULTIMATELY" performed with very reckless choices. This place, says animal hospital, well after the damage they admitted it is not equipped to help her, yet they have a big sign outside that says animal hospital. (((WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE))): (was to give Sasha antibiotics, a vitamin injection, saline and an incubator to keep her warm. Most likely an overnight stay. Also some antibiotics to take home.) THEY DID NOT HELP HER!!! they did what they wanted!!! Made some $$$ "AGAINST " my consent!!! I attatched a picture of my murdered dead baby Sasha also one of her alive so you understand what she looked like before these animals killed her. I never signed anything here, or gave permission for these extremely inappropriate actions. If they had any integrity, they would have told me the moment I arrived they were not equipped to help Sasha, and not create situations to try and justify charging me $500. They could have followed real stomach flu protocol. To give services requested, what I ask, not what they want, because it was disorganized and a secret gong show. They also said she would die, of course she was going to die after they messed with her lungs and who knows what else while they did what they want in the back and also by putting stuff in her heart with adrenaline. This was very crooked, because they had no right to do anything at all if they were not prepared as they later admitted. Sasha's tiny little heart kept beating so fast. It stopped, My little girl looked at me crying, I died that moment. Her heart stopped because of the Adrenaline from the epinephrine they injected into her without my consent. These foolish people, should have said they were not capable, but instead recklessly killed her. Earlier this year I lose my son. Sasha, was the light that kept me going. Now I have no family. They took her from me. My baby girl. My innocent little Sasha. These guys also censor posts on other networks so that people like me, our voice's and experiences are unheard.
