I understand that her medical condition was very serious. My concern is not only about the outcome, but about the communication, consent process, documentation, and the way we were treated during the euthanasia decision. We asked about other options, including continuing treatment and transferring Raya to another emergency/specialty clinic. I did not feel that we were given a real voluntary choice. Police were called and were present in the room while we were crying, overwhelmed, and trying to understand our options. I felt pressured into signing the euthanasia consent form. Afterward, I requested Rhea's full medical records. The first package did not include all documents, and only after multiple follow-up emails did I receive additional monitoring records, handwritten order forms, and communication logs that were not included initially. I also requested clarification about audio recordings made during our conversations. Losing Rhea was already devastating. The way this situation was handled made it even more painful. I am now seeking review through the appropriate channels. In my opinion, pet owners deserve clear communication, transparency, and compassion during emergencies. I did not feel that we received that.

I'm already the Humane Society they could pay the vet bill if I can't afford two grand and I wasn't gonna let my dog die so being selfless, I did sign the paper of the biggest hardest thing I ever did and then after that, they tried to charge me with abandonment and send the byelaw after me. I had to go to court to prove that I wasn't neglected after all they just decided to drop it all yeah it was the saddest time in my life. I don't recommend this anything vca and the city of Calgary. If it's VCA avoid it with your pet no good if you wanna lose your pet that's a good place to do it.

The staff genuinely cares for our cats and they can pick up on it. One of our cats, Tika, who used to freak out when going to the vet, actually likes going there and seeing the vet and the staff. Last year on Family Day, one of our cats had to be put down due to an illness that could not be treated or cured. Nikita was kept comfortable in every possible way and the staff's compassion was above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before. (We even got a sympathy card in the mail signed by everyone) They let us spend all the time we needed with Nikita beforehand, allowed us to wait a few days to pay as well as kept the carrier for a week, so we didn't have to go home with it so soon. The ceramic paw-print memorials are just beautiful. Thank you, Heartland, for continuing to provide such good care to our cats and us too!

We brought our other cat too for some routine worm medication. My previous cat was also seen here (though I can't remember for the life of me the name of the vet, she was a lovely Asian lady). I have always had a fantastic experience here. The vets are honest, even if that honesty might be a little terrifying! But I appreciate having a clear idea of what is happening and not being placated by vagaries. The front staff are lovely and polite, and they're always super nice to me even if I bombard them with phone calls and questions! Both of my cats now seem to love coming here (minus the actual travel time, naturally). They both are happy and wanting pets and cuddles from the staff! It's nice having a vet that I like, but my cats also like! I had read somewhere that their pricing was a bit expensive, but after looking around at some other clinics, I've found that it's pretty close to what other clinics charge for the same things. Overall, I love this clinic and would absolutely recommend it to friends!

They were empathetic, and took time to break down costs and work with me to meet her care needs with In my budget. The over all cost of the procedure was still expensive, but VERY reasonable, especially considering all the medications, surgical procedure, cone, and after care medicines. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was not able to be with my dog, but I felt very comfortable with leaving her at the clinic. The staff are friendly and I feel that they genuinely care very much about their patients. They took time to throughly answer my questions and concerns. I'm so pleased that I will be switching to make this clinic my regular vet. Thanks for taking such good care of my best friend!

I will continue to use this service, especially for check ups and non-stop emergency concerns. I brought our dog here for vomiting and not eating for about 2 days. He was given a conservative…read moreapproach medication and I was told to come back the following day if my dog will not get any better. I brought him back to the clinic like first thing the following day. They kept him for a day for blood work and xray to determine what's going on. There were recommendations including "possible needing surgery" but no conclusive diagnosis or urgent recommendation to justify the surgery. Not very sure if there's a foreign object in the intestine. To cut the story shirt, after a day of observation we transferred our dog to Trinity hospital, and the surgery was done right away upon the strong recommendation from the emergency vet based on her blood work, xray and assessment of our dog's condition, which according to the emergency vet is really bad. So were very disappointed about the way Cochrane animal has handled our dog's condition. 1 day of observation didn't help our dog's condition. I will not recommend this clinic. Observation is expensive.
