Ned was the only one to answer the phone after I had already called 7 other companies for a quote. So that was a good start. The fence was completed a week earlier than initially projected which was a total win. His workers were smart, capable, and polite. The work they did was high quality, much nicer than the other fence that was already put up before we moved in. The price was comparable to the other quote I managed to get, and only a little higher than a different neighbors (also shabbier) fence. For the record, I never take the lowest bid anyway, for this exact reason. Good experience, highly recommend. read more

Our backyard fence took two half-days, one for posts and concrete setup and the second for completion. After we were finished, we walked the fence, and he answered any questions I had. Ned Avery of Castlewood Fence was such a pleasure to work with. From the first contact until the project was finished, Ned was easy to contact and very responsive. The large back yard fence project was delayed a few times due to the HOA approval process, but Ned was flexible and was able to make it work into his schedule as soon as the final approvals were received. The crew on the project arrived at 7:00 am every day and continued to work even as the weather was getting colder. We contacted Ned from Castlewood Fence for a quote to install a new fence around our backyard. Ned presented himself very professional and friendly at first. He came out to our property and measured and promptly provided a bid. He was very patient in the back and forth communication to answer our questions. At our request, Ned even provided a breakdown of cost per side in relation to each neighbor's side as well as a drawing. Our neighbors would be sharing in the cost of the fence so we wanted to find the best deal for everyone. We did our due diligence to obtain bids from two other companies. Ned's prices were in line with others and his fences around town seemed great quality. During final negotiation, we asked Ned to remove the cost of demo of the old fence; we and our neighbors agreed to take a day to do the demo and disposal ourselves. It was estimated that our savings would be around $1500. This is when Ned became evasive and unprofessional. Ned provided an updated bid to us with the demo removed from the quote. In doing so, he also increased the price of the install. This was brought to his attention through email. We asked why the install price had increased. The subsequent replies from Ned were abrupt. Instead of addressing the price increase, he stated that "he learned a long time ago that when instinct told him something didn't feel right, he should go with instinct." Ned then said he was backing out of the job. It seemed as though Ned was being evasive and fraudulent with his prices. We recommend that those considering business with Ned and Castlewood Fence be weary of doing business with him. read more

The fence looks great. We had a horrible experience regarding the final bill. My husband explained his viewpoint and the owner used threatening and vulgar language in front of my three year old child. Adults may not see eye to eye on certain matters, but I do not believe that under any circumstance it's ever ok to use such filthy language towards another person, especially when children are present.
