Crafting is my spirit animal and when I saw that The Craftsman & Apprentice was hosting a Macrame and Mimosas Class I signed right up. The class price was $75 and covered instruction, materials, Mimosas, and delicious brunch fare. I opted to attend solo and was lucky enough to make a few crafting pals during the class. The class was well led and the studio is beautiful. I'm loving that they have memberships for kids and that they exist in general. A woman-owned business and keeping our community growing and working together to make beautiful things. Sign me up again and again!! read more

I came here for a knotty good time (macrame class) and thought it was a ton of fun. I have a new-found appreciation for all of the beautiful macrame pieces I see on Instagram and for the macrame plant-holders my parents had from the early 80s. We got to use sticks instead of dowels and there was brunch served. Brunch included hard-boiled eggs, coffee, fruits and a quiche. There was trendy/cool music playing in the background and the space was nice because there were lots of arts-and-crafts tools laying all around. My only objection is how expensive the class is. Last night I attended a ladies night here with some of my girlfriends and we made the most amazing cheeseboards. I originally intended to make mine for a Christmas gift, but it turned out so well, now I can't imagine parting with it. We had access to power equipment, sanding gear, everything you would need to complete this sort of project. They were kind enough to provide cheese and crackers and we brought the wine. This is a super cool warehouse cum retail store specializing craftsmanship I suppose you could say. Their website explains it better than I: "Workshop, retail, & featured artisans. Handmade, well-made, & vintage for the makers & doers in all of us. Here at the shop we're all about learning by doing. We believe that all humans, big & small have a desire to work hard, make nice things & to share them with nice people." I also bought a cute t-shirt and some locally made jams and came home with all 10 fingers so it was a success! read more

I attended a class late fall of last year, to create a holiday wreath for Thanksgiving. The wreath as shown on the website was felt flowers in a gray/creme/mustard color scheme with sage colored leaves. Our class was nearly sold out on the day of, but was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances with the instructor. Definitely no problem because the weather was also horrible that day, so it was safer for everyone to not have to drive in. But I mention it because the class was then rescheduled and at capacity (great!), however when everyone arrived there were not enough materials for everyone to make the project. Less than a third of the participants got the correct materials, and everyone else had to cobble something together from the leftover felt colors. There was plenty of time to purchase enough materials for everyone to create the project we signed up for for, but alas we ended up with a hodgepodge of elementary school kids project colors. The instruction was minimal at best, and a lot of the women participating sat confused and though they muddled throughwere clearly disappointed. The small portion of the class that had the right materials seemed to enjoy themselves though. I was already irritated about the situation because this was an expensive course for me ($36 for a metal ring, 4 pieces of mismatched felt and fighting for access to a glue gun?!), but the final straw was when I inquired as to why there were not enough of the proper materials for everyone to make the project we paid for, the answer I got was that they "suddenly" got a lot more registrants than they expected, which was a flat lie. You can see the number of participants clearly on their website for each class, PLUS they rescheduled it leaving extra time to shop AND confirmed participant counts for the rescheduled night. I feel like I didn't get the experience everyone had raved about, and frankly I'm still mad about it 4 months later, enough to write a review. I will not return. read more

The Craftsman & Apprentice offers a lovely variety of classes for grown ups, but I'm here to tell y'all about their kid's classes. This year my oldest son was finally, finally ready for summer camps and when I looked around Denver to find ones that he would be interested in the ones at this little spot were top of our list. They offered everything from camps where you make your own toys to fabric-based things, which is the one that E eventually ended up in as he has a recent obsession with sewing and yarn. The camp was Monday through Friday from 9 am until 3 pm for one week and during that time he made countless projects. They have a pretty standard work schedule with a few different working blocks of time as well as outside picnic style lunch and recess time at a local playground. I believe this was E's favorite camp of the summer this year. For my part, the instructors were super friendly and signing up for the class was really easy. E was always excited to go in the mornings and had a ton of fun stuff to tell me in the afternoons when I picked him up. They also offer tinker times to drop in which I'm sure we'll take advantage of. And we'll definitely head back during school breaks for more workshops as they are offered and needed. read more

We just had our two daughters birthday party at the C&A. Delaney was so kind and personable. All of our guests had a fabulous time, kids and adults alike. This was the most fun and stress free birthday party we have ever thrown. Thank you so much Delaney! We will absolutely be back! read more
