I don't understand how this company has so many positive reviews. Our experience was extremely disappointing. We hired him to install a hardwired network in our home, install speakers, and replace wiring. The cost seemed excessive for the work performed--much of it consisted of simply taping new wires to old ones and pulling them through the walls, which appeared to be a very basic job. For the CAT5 installation appointments, he canceled multiple times for various reasons, including not having the correct wiring or supplies, medical issues, and confusion about the scheduled day. He was also never clear about his start time, which made scheduling very frustrating. We also had him replace an old cable box in a closet with a larger one. The work was poorly done. While some drywall damage might be expected, the box itself was not secured properly, and all the wiring was placed behind it in a disorganized manner. Later, when we contacted our cable company for an unrelated issue, we discovered that our home already had CAT5 wiring installed. We were unaware of this at the time. Either he knew this and chose not to tell us, or he didn't recognize existing wiring--neither option reflects well on his professionalism or competence. We ultimately saved thousands of dollars by hiring another company that simply tested the existing wires and added wall ports. Overall, the experience was a complete waste of time and money. I would never trust this company to do work in my home again. At best, the service was incompetent; at worst, it felt dishonest. read more

I have been meaning to leave a positive review for a long time. Now I have no excuse not to. I initially found Juan, Castro Concept, via Yelp. I picked his service because he was local and had pretty good reviews. I installed 4 camera security system and Ethernet home network line set up. All went well, and his service was excellent. I was very happy with it. Two years later, one of my security camera went off line. I tried to fix it myself but i couldn't do it. I called Juan at Castro Concept and he came out and fixed the issue and upgrade one of my camera. It was more than two years ago and he replaced problem camera and only charged me for his service call charge. I can't believe how honest and great his services are. I highly recommend his service to anyone who wants home security camera set up or home network set up. For people who is on the fence about hardwire home security set up, I highly recommend them. I switched my home network setup up and needed additional ethernet cables pulled to various locations- A few ceiling mounted access points, and a few additional runs to rooms in the house to have more hard wired terminations. Juan came out, toured my home, and came up with a reasonable plan to meet my requested plan. I was VERY impressed with Juan's work- two of the runs were not as straight forward as we'd originally thought, but Juan figured out how to work around the issues with minimal intrusion into our home, making only necessary drywall cuts to get between floors, and even then- being thoughtful enough to make those cuts in the garage instead of inside the house. I want to start by thanking Juan and John for installing our home security cameras and for running Cat 6/a Ethernet cables throughout our house. If you want the fast version of my review, scroll down to the last paragraph. I was shopping around for security cameras since there has been a spike in crime. I Ordered Lorex 4K wired cameras with all the features. Next, I called around for install quotes for Security Cameras and Ethernet Cable install. Some contractors never called back or they were outrageously expensive. I found Castro Concepts here on Yelp, read the reviews and more importantly they were local. I try to go local because I still believe in customer service and if anything goes wrong, I can find them. Juan agreed to come over to our house for a quote. Surprisingly, he was on time. We went around the house with all details of camera positions and how many Ethernet cables I needed. I explained that my wife works from home and that our area is a dead zone. We rely on the internet to make cellular calls, run her business, kids iPads and my sports streaming. Juan explained how he recommend to upgrade the connections that came with the cameras for consistency and clarity. Then he explained how he could bundle cables to be more cost effective. He assured me cables would be professionally tucked away out of site. He also told me my internet network would become better. During the install there was not one moment where I felt uncomfortable. Juan communicated everything throughout the process. The install took 3 days because it was a lot of work. Juan was familiar with our cameras and helped me with the setup process which I'm very grateful. Juan also found a faulty line from our internet provider reducing our speeds tremendously. I had previously complained to our internet provider and had a tech of theirs come out. Although I was paying extra for faster speeds, I was no where near it. OUR NETWORK WENT FROM 32mps to 660mps. I also learned they are part of the install network so basically if you have BestBuy install your system they call them but you pay 2.5 times more. We couldn't be happier with Castro Concepts. They exceeded our installation expectations and more importantly gave superior customer service. I strongly recommend them if your looking for an HONEST and hardworking company. Before moving in I really wanted to get a small sized server rack to put all my network equipment and NAS inside to make a clean setup. Initially I was just going to do straight direct connections to the wall to plugin with a switch but I figured I might as well do a cleaner setup. It seems highly suspicious. I was informed that they wanted 24% down. I was under the impression that the downpayment for contracted work in California should be 10%. We recently moved to a new house. The previous owners had wired the house up with video cameras, but the system was a mess. These guys came out promptly, spent hours on their first visit trying to unscramble the mess we had been left (and weren't even going to charge us for it!), then came back for a second appointment to finish the job. They kept me from having to buy a new DVR like I thought I'd have to, fixed the terrible connections the cameras had that were causing them not to display reliably, fixed a power supply issue, and did so many other things for us to get this system working properly. They were friendly, really took their time getting to the bottom of every problem rather than going the easy route and suggesting we spend tons of money on a new system, and really showed they knew what they were doing. My hard-wired internet access point stopped working, resulting in no WIFI signal in part of the house. I called Castro Concepts, thinking they would simply install a new access point and issue resolved. Instead, the team from Castro Concepts first starting troubling shooting my network. They checked to ensure the ethernet cable connection from my router to the access point was working, check. Next they tested the hub (yes I used a hub not a switch) to determine if the hub was working, bingo. My loss of WIFI internet was not my access point, but a bad hub. Not being a network guru, the team could have easily sold me a new access point, re-wired my house, and oh throw in a new switch for good measure and I would not have even known the root cause. At first I was a little reluctant to pay more than I expected for installation but by half way through the install it was worth every penny.
