My bartender/waitress with multicolor dreadlocks made an amazing green drink I forget the name of that tasted like apple cider thag I want to mimic. She also handled an insane lunch rush that I would've dreaded in my serving days and kept her cool while customers were being disruptive. She was able to redirect tjem to wuit being a disturbance in the restaurant without escalation, served everything and everyone with a smile, and truly made my dinner experience worthwhile and honestly set the cozy ambience of Cat-man-dos. Workers like her taking on that many tables deserve some serious kudos for keeping their head on straight and I hope she knows her hard work doesn't go unnoticed She maintained a full bar and at least 10 tables without forgetting anything for anyone as far as I saw. So many conflicting thoughts about this place! In many ways I loved it but in others I wish they didn't provide me with such an anchor. Intending to see more of the area, this bar sucked us in. The stay was supposed to be short but their hospitality, food, and drinks kept us from finding any alternatives. It's a very unpretentious bar with "basic bar food" and cheap drinks. But their service is what sets them apart from what I can only assume is the norm. The bartender was kind, professional, authoritative, and accommodating. If I could give 0 stars I would. Went there recently while on a work trip in the UP. From the second I stepped in the bar tender was giving us a dirty look, while it was a decently large group (6-8 people) we were all courteous and respectful. When given our IDs she sat there and twisted every single one scanning it for30 seconds each as if every person walked into the bar with a fake ID. The kicker of it all is that when we asked for menus the waitress quite literally rolled her eyes and told us we need to hurry up because the bar kitchen closes at 10. It was currently 8:30. After the food was given she didn't come back to the table a single time to refill drinks, ask how it was, or anything at all. As a matter of fact someone had asked for a water and she didn't even bring it for the entire hour we were there. This was like something straight out of a bar rescue. My cousin was part of a contract crew to do some work at Cat-Man-do's. He did some fantastic epoxy work on their tables, but when it came time to pay the contractors, owners Curt & Kelly flat out refused. Do not support this business, owners are crooks. Although at first look I wasn't sure about this bar/restaurant they proved me wrong. We were traveling with our dog and sat outside. Not only did she bring us a big bowl of water for our dog and also organic dog treats, she provided us great service too. I would highly recommend this bar/grill for its food and drinks. The hamburger i ate was served on seasoned Texas toast that was toasted just right along with real homemade hand cut French fries. I absolutely adore this place! They have made such an effort to continue to expand their menu with new wing rubs and sauces as well as different appetizers. I have tried many different things and they have all been really delicious. This is 100% Midwestern bar food and if you can hang with that - this is your place. The owners, and bartenders are very kind, outgoing, and they greet customers, and make them priority one. I went on vacation into town, and this bar was a highlight of my trip. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for lunch per recommendations in Yelp. The place is not exactly what I was expecting for a 4.5 star rating (at that time). The menu is your typical bar food menu. The burgers were good, service was slow for only having 6 customers in the place, but the bartender/waitress was very nice. They did have Upper Hand beer on tap, which was one of my requirements for lunch that day. In the end I'd stop by again my next time rolling through Escanaba. read more

I liked the vibe at Cat's. Pretty chill and laid back. Their staff seems attentive, friendly and willing to go the extra mile for their customers satisfaction. I was impressed with their menu. They have appetizers, burgers, speciality burgers and speciality sandwiches and much more. And, they are the ONLY bar I have ever seen with beer taps right at your table. Cats has exceptional food. It is not your average ordinary bar food. They have a pretty extensive menu for a little place. I had the Roadhouse Burger. Everything gets five stars from me. This place is amazing! A group of friends and I were searching for a reasonably priced place to eat in the area and decided to give Cat-man-dos a try, and we have no regrets. We all got various types of sandwiches and burgers and were all blown away by how tasty all of it was. The homemade potato chips and fries were also really good. The food was a tad slow to get to us, but we found out afterward that the owner had made all of the food himself. He chatted with us afterward and was really friendly.
