On Saturday night we had a party of 8, so I called a head to make a reservation and was told they don't take them but they said they could accommodate us, there was no wait and to 'come on up'. When we got there about 15 min later and they told the wait would be about 15 min, which is acceptable. They then sat us at a large table in the back, and basically forgot about us for an additional 20 min, then finally came and got our drink and food order. We were then forgotten about for another 45 min. No one checked drinks or came with water refills. We requested bread when we ordered and one in our party ordered soup, neither of those items ever came out. When our food finally came out, the pasta was cold and the pork loin was so tough it wasn't edible, maybe 3 bites were taken. We brought this to their attention and we were told 'sorry' but they did nothing to make it right. They also charged us for the soup we never got and the mushrooms that were ordered for a steak, that never came. They did take those items off the bill when asked. We also paid $8.97 for 3 CANS of pop, which in my opinion is absolutely outrageous. It was a very disappointing, and VERY expensive experience. We used to love coming, however this is the second time in a row that our experience was horrible and we will not be back. read more

We visited this cute place on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend during covid. When we visited the UP for Labor Day weekend we knew dining would be challenging. There were few outdoor options available, but the Log Cabin Grill did have a cute outdoor area. It was chilly, but a blanket and warm coats helped. The restaurant was fairly crowded and their were people crowded around the bar. The staff had masks on, but most of them didn't have their noses covered, including our waitress at times. Walking through the restaurant was a bit nerve racking and when we left we did not go through the establishment to leave. We did find that the staff seemed a bit annoyed that we wanted to sit outside. Our server was friendly and the food was good. We had some locals beers. I had a half serving of their creamy chicken pasta and it was still a generous portion. My husband enjoyed the wings. read more

We asked for a new one as it was an accident and we thought they'd be understanding that accidents happen. Nope. Charged with no negotiation. We asked for it to be taken off since it wasn't eaten. We understand the need for policy for people who may do this for free food...but it was the full soggy sandwich and wet chips. We asked for the manager. She would not come to our table. Very disappointed in our visit here. This was our first time here. We started with the junk basket and let's just say it lives up to its name... JUNK! The chicken was ICE cold when it came to us. Didn't eat it. Onion rings, fries, and cheese curds were Walmart quality, not even restaurant quality. My boyfriend asked for his steak to be medium rare and it came out medium well.. if not more done than that. I ordered the chicken pasta, the pasta and sauce were good but the chicken was disgusting. Bland, tough to chew, and just overall not good. I asked for the appetizer to be taken off our bill, our waitress said she'd take it off and then ended up only taking half the price off, meaning she lied. If I truly wanted to be a Karen I would've asked for the steak to be taken off as well for being over cooked and my pasta for being mostly disgusting. Will not be coming back here. read more

To begin, I've been eating at the Log Cabin for over 30 years. It has changed owners during this time but the food and service has remained very good. On Friday, 7/9/21, I was planning on eating at the Log Cabin with my family. The restaurant was half full but we were told that there was no room for us. I tried to ask the woman working behind the bar for an explanation. She very rudely yelled at us and said, " we dont have enough people working. We can't seat you. I dont have to explain myself to you." Then she walked away. I that there is a worker shortage but that's no reason to treat people this way. read more

Really enjoyed our dinner there. Have been driving by it for sometime and decided to give it a try on our way home to Marquette. I had the filet which was wonderful. Stopped in this place on our way through the UP. It's on the far side of escanaba from Wisconsin but worth the wait. They've got a little bit of everything on the menu. My son had a great steak, my daughter a bowl of the bisque and I had whitefish. Great all around and very generous portions. Recommend highly to all. read more

We happened on this place during our drive up to Eagle Harbor MI. Lucky us! Delicious walleye, be sure to order the homemade chips too.

My parents brought me here to treat me before I went back to the West Coast. The food was OK. I had pan fried walleye which is difficult to mess up. Others in my party had pasta and ribs and other specials. They seemed to like them, but weren't overjoyed. The worst drinks by far that I've ever had. I ordered a whiskey sour and it was water with a splash of whiskey: no sour or even sweet. I sent it back. It came back a bit darker in color, but still piled high with ice and no sour. Not wanting to send it back again and embarrass my parents, I just hung on. Then my brother-in-law who had ordered the same said that his was awful as well, and he isn't into sophisticated drinks. My mother said her brandy old fashioned was terrible. Listen: at $12 to $19 a plate and $8 a drink, this place has got to improve. I pay similar for a good meal in Los Angeles, and I would never stand for it. I hope to treat my parents to something like they deserve next time. read more

This was a terrible dinner. The food was flavorless, expensive, and the service was negligent. The meal took two and a half hours, we had no aps, no drinks, just dinner. We decided to make a stop for lunch and boy are we glad we did. The parking lot was empty and we couldn't figure out why. The service was fast and pleasant and the food was excellent. I had the blackened cod and it was perfect. My son who doesn't eat much was so happy with the monte cristo. Stopped in for dinner last night and glad we did! I had the fried whitefish which came with fresh green beans and a side of pasta mornay (other side dishes available). My friends had chicken Parmesan, seafood mornay and the pan-fried walleye. Everything was excellent! I loved the whitefish, and could tell it was fresh, and it was cooked perfectly. If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop and would recommend to others. At the end of meal, on inside of our bill was handwritten post it note that said an additional charge of 3.99% will be automatically charged if you use a credit or debit card. The waitress explained that that was the owners way of getting his charge back, however this was not posted or explained prior to getting the bill. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday. We were the only ones in the dining room until a family of 6 came in about 10 minutes later. We waited too long to have a our order taken, considering the number of people in the restaurant. After our order was taken, we waited 45 minutes to get our food which consisted of two sandwiches, a salad, and a bowl of soup. The Yooper Cheesesteak was awful. Chunks of very tough steak, no visible cheese, and a couple of small mushroom slices and onion. The steak had to be removed from the bun and cut with a knife and fork and eaten that way. Also the 4% service fee for paying by credit card is unheard of in a restaurant. Who does this?? We eat out often and have not encountered this before. We won't be back. read more

My brother and sister in law just opened The Log Cabin and the food is wonderful! I had the Crab Bisque and Chicken Marsala my first meal. Cabin Burger & fries for lunch the next day and the filet mignon for dinner! Every meal was perfection and I would recommend anyone driving between Escanaba and Gladstone stop in and try anything on the menu. Worst dining experience I've ever had. Service was nonexistent. Food was bland and way overpriced.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on our trip, we were really excited to try something new so far from home...the French onion soup was phenomenal and the homemade ranch dressing for the salad was good as well, which then made us really excited for dinner. He ordered the full rack and I ordered the seafood mornay and it was horrible. The ribs were undercooked to the point that the meat wouldn't even come off the bone, the seafood mornay seemed more like a watered down Alfredo sauce. After waiting 10 minutes after we received our food we had to get our servers attention to let her know we weren't pleased, waited another 10 minutes for a new rack of ribs so we couldn't even enjoy our dinner together. Definitely seems like more like a tourist trap. One star only for the soup and salad. Otherwise, we won't be coming back on our next trip to the U.P!! read more

Stopped in on a friends recommendation. I ordered the queen size grilled prime rib and oh my gosh. It was to die for. Included in the meal was a vegetable side and then a choice for another as well as a soup or salad. I had the French onion soup and it was amazing. The flavor was complex. One critique is the slice of cheese on top looks cheap for a normally$6 item. My total meal was $29. It is safe to say, I'll be back and highly recommend to anyone. read more

So happy to have the Log Cabin back in business. The views are amonh the best over Bay de Noc and Lake Michigan. Had walleye and the spare ribs. The walleye pan fried was really succulent, deep fried was lightly battered and tender and moist. Crab bisque was terrific with plentiful bits of genuine crab. And my sister was all over the hand cut fries - delicious. Even the mushroom risotto, which I tried on a big chance, was a pretty tasty rendition of this side. The new owners are jazzed to be there. I was passing by on the way to Marquette and saw this place next to the water and decided to stop in. I was welcomed right away by a nice lady who sat us. Our waitress was very friendly and got to us right away. They actually had Keweenaw Pick Axe blonde ale on tap that was great. I ordered the burger medium which came out well done, but not a big deal for me, the burger was very tasty. My friend and girlfriend also were pleased with their dinners. We got these chocolate mints at the end of our meal which my girlfriend loved. We liked it so much we stopped again on our way home. Again same good service and food. A bad experience: The Log Cabin in Gladstone. I had the worst Oriental Chicken Salad. I told the waitress that it was possibly the worst chicken salad I had ever had. The waitress said, "I'll get it taken off of your bill." She took the salad, I had two bites of it. And came back to tell me that the manager said that they couldn't take it off of my bill. ( But she threw the salad away.) I told her that I didn't have time to have something else cooked because I had to leave. I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager says, "I'm sorry we don't do that here." Offered me a drink or dessert. I did not have time for them to make me something else. So she walked away. I had to leave so I asked for a gift card. Again, the manager said, "look you had a 10$ salad!" ( Nice remark by the way) I may have ordered a 10$ salad in addition to our drinks, another dinner 18$, and appetizer 10$ I know you don't care. However, I use to tell people that I enjoyed your restaurant. Not anymore. Your attitude, snide remarks and scowl were deplorable and your customer service well, it sucked. read more

Definitely a mixed bag here but I won't be back. Service: I've heard a lot of bad things about the service here, but we were well attended to. It seemed that everyone around us was as well. Drinks: I didn't look at the wine list really, but they only had craft beers on tap, and the "hot toddies" feature locally roasted coffee. Good deal! Food: This is where the wheels fall off. Menu - This is fine dining from 1985. Steak, a few pasta dishes, and a few sandwiches. Nothing jumped out at me even though I was hungry. We both ultimately said, "Well, this sounds OK..." Soup/Salad - Side salad was iceberg, 2 slices of cucumber, a slice of tomato, and croutons out of a box. My wife said the soup was "edible". Bread - Two cold breadsticks (that would have been pretty good if warm), pre-packaged crackers, whipped butter, and whipped cheese sauce. "Relish platter" - This comes with all entrees. Sweet pickle slices, 2 carrot sticks, 3 radishes, a celery stick, and ranch. Their version of crudite, I guess. Chicken marsala - Chicken itself was done well, but the sauce had entirely too much garlic (and I love garlic). It was mostly flavorless otherwise. It came with some soggy, oily, unseasoned zucchini. Pork entree - This was the best thing either of us got, but nothing super special. A pork chop that was done properly, with cinnamon apples. It came with the same zucchini, unfortunately. Sides - The mushroom risotto had a terrible texture, so it didn't get eaten. The pasta mornay, while it seemed to be made in-house, tasted like it came out of a box. It had a weird chemical/preservative flavor to it. The prices weren't horrible but it was easily the worst $50 meal for two I've ever had. read more
