Oh, man. You ever do that thing where you want to try a pasty for the first time, so you search for a good restaurant that has them, then go about your business for a minute, then search the google map for the restaurant based on memory alone, then go to the restaurant only to find out you went to the wrong restaurant because you have the memory of a goldfish? No? Nobody? Just me? Damnit. The silver lining? A wonderful breakfast meal and cheap to boot! Since I realized I'm part idiot (and not the good part), I decided to eat breakfast at my accidental restaurant. Mostly because I was already sitting in the booth and did NOT want to admit defeat. And boy howdy, am I glad I did! I ordered the French toast, eggs, and bacon. Two toasts, two eggs, and about three bacons. And a breakfast Coke (which is normal coke, but in the morning). First off, the eggs. I only eat scrambled eggs because I'm a child. Salt and pepper, then into my mouth. I don't like creamy scrambled eggs and I don't like scrambled eggs that get that weird skin on them for cooking too long. These ones were perfect. I garbled them down. My trick is to heavily salt and pepper them THEN cut them up and mix them together to disperse the seasoning. Eggs 10/10 The French toast? Perfect. Good size slices, a ball of butter on top (thankfully enough to spread over all four triangles), and a ramekin of syrup. They were the perfect portions. The FT (French toast) had the best sponginess and fluffiness. French Toast (FT) 10/10 Finally. The bacon. Look. I am a huss for bacon. I'll do some shady sh** for some good bacon. But I ain't going back to prison. I always ALWAYS request my bacon be floppy. Some places call it limp. I call mine floppy. Because I'm a professional. A lot of places struggle on what floppy should look like. I've had floppy bacon I could put through a plate glass window. I've broken a piece of floppy bacon on a table edge and shanked somebody (see prior prison comment). But here? This place? Sweetie pie, I could tie my shoes with this bacon it's so floppy. I could lasso a baby calf with this floppy a** bacon. If you don't believe me, I attached a photo of what floppy bacon should look like. Professional Floppy Bacon 12/10. I would also like to mention the Coke this place served was top tier. It's like it's chilled prior to coming out the fountain dispenser. It just went down SO smooth. Drink some. Also. It's a medium-quiet place. Family friendly. Has that down home look and feel. read more

10/10 recommend. We were driving through the UP, headed back to Milwaukee and planned on getting fast food but decided to stop here instead - and it was a good choice! A true diner in every capacity and the portion sizes were HUGE - enough to feed two people for every meal. The food was good as well and we experienced good service. Looking for breakfast, place was filled at 11am on Thursday w/locals. Clean tables, friendly and attentive staff, wide variety of entrees. Excellent iced tea btw. Tried Mexican Omelette, wife ordered Monterey Grilled Chicken Salad. Super generous portions, wife said salad one of the best ever: fresh, dried cranberries added superb touch. A cozy warm welcoming atmosphere with friendly wait staff, hostesses and bus helpers. Like that you can order breakfast anytime. There was a special Fall menu offering everything pumpkin but we went with one of the many omelette options and wasn't disappointed. The choices that were offered with the omelette were a full bagel with cream cheese, toast or hot cakes and hash browns. Our order was delivered hot and in a timely manner even though the restaurant was packed. Glad we stopped. read more

Visited Thursday night 7pm. The food was good and the portions large enough to satisfy me. However the Reuben sandwich I ordered, while flavourful, was mostly sauerkraut and cheese. Very little of the homemade brisket advertised on the menu. Fries were excellent. My wife ordered some kind of taco bowl and enjoyed it. The best part of the meal was our server, who was excellent all round. (Her apron said Amy or Abby, not sure) The restaurant has a family ambience and the customers present attested to that. Would suggest that they invest some money into reupholstering the booth seats as they were lumpy and uncomfortable as a result of extensive use despite being visually presentable. read more

it was a Saturday, about 5;00 and a last minute decision to get supper. I walked in, the waitress said four? I said no, 16. no problem. let me get the tables ready. It was probably 1/2 before we all got there. Abby took our orders The meals started coming out really fast and one after the other We had five kids from 3 to 9 and she was very accommodating to keeping them happy The service was amazing. Food cooked perfectly. Prices fair and large portions We had everything from breakfast to prime rib. we talked, ate, talked some more and back to the hotel by 7;00. Came here with my family. We were on a road trip and they sat us down (we were 10) a waiter or waitress NEVER came. We had 6 kids and 4 adults. We waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged and nothing. We walked out and Won't ever return and don't recommend. read more

It had been over a decade since I ate at Drifter's, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I shared the Combination Platter with my cousin and thoroughly enjoyed everything on it. I was pleased that it wasn't too greasy. The Perch Plate was equally as enjoyable! Service was also outstanding! I'd definitely eat here again. read more

Had a hot turkey sandwich. Asked if was served with with real mashed potatoes and she said yes. I also asked if the turkey was real turkey. They said yes. The dressing was all dried out, the turkey was very thin slice and grilled on the grill. The potatoes were all watery. Last time I would eat here. read more

So this morning we woke up in our tent to hard rain... had to make some quick discussions to pack everything up and in the car as dry as possible. We left Au train, MI (campgrounds outside of munising) and then went straight to Escanaba to get coffee and breakfast after a hectic morning and an hour drive lol passed by this place before driving downtown and after comparing the options we drove back to eat here! So happy we did. The parking lot wraps around the building and was busy. Inside you step into a cross between an old fashioned diner and a nautical themed restaurant which is perfect for the area. It's bright and clean with predominately booth seating. In some ways layout and kitchen location remind me of a ihop. We were seated quickly and a very friendly waitress grabbed drinks right away. Coffee was hot and very good. We ordered: French toast &eggs. A meat lovers omelet and country fried steak and eggs. All 3 of us were shocked by portions. The French toast was thick and made with fresh baked bread. The omelet was fluffy and full of flavor, my husband added hollandaise to it which was a nice contrast but would also be good with sausage gravy added. I loved my dish also, the eggs over easy were perfectly cooked and not runny. The country fried steak was crispy and the breading was delicious. Good food with a lot of variety. The servers are really good and accommodating. Great old diner feel.

The food was alright to start the day with basic options like eggs, omelette, pancake, steak, bacon, etc.. and hot coffee. Although the ingredient was not the best of its kind, the food was overall worth the price as the portion is typically big. Except for the steak, which turned out to be well-seasoned, frankly there was not much of an opportunity for a chef to show off his or her skills on these dishes. The restaurant was packed with locals, mostly, even though we arrived at 7 in the morning, and it seems to be a favorite place in town.
