I followed Dr. Davis from the U. Of I. Vet Clinic to AHATC when he began this veterinary practice…read more I'm not even sure what year that was. I'm 85, so you know I am extremely happy with the competence and care all our dogs (and cats) have received. I have found warm and welcoming professionals from the receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians throughout the many years I have been coming to this vet practice. The same has been true since Dr. Davis retired and Dr. Stoerger has continued the practice. Every time I've had to make that awful decision a pet owner often faces, I have been supported and eased through euthanizing a beloved furry member of our family, this practice has supported me with their combined veterinary skills, their empathy, and their understanding for my loss. My most recent experience in dealing with my Murphy's struggle with cancer, I was able to get through it with their support and caring. Dr. Stoerger came to my home with a vet tech and told me to let her know when I was ready. (You're not ever really "ready" to lose your friend and companion, but you know it's the last caring thing you can do for them, and I was given the gift of Dr. Stoerger's understanding and empathy for my loss. She has cared for Murphy, my beagle mix, from 2012 when I adopted him until his recent euthanasia. When the mass was discovered in his lung, she told me of the cancer division at U. Of I. Veterinarian Medical School, who were wonderful as well. When I took him there, she shared his medical records with them. In his illness and euthanasia, she was so tender with him--and with me--that I felt comforted, and I know Murphy was as well. I highly and confidently recommend Dr. Stoerger and this practice who will make your pet and you feel not only welcome, but confident in their hands. received. She shared his

The staff is not particularly friendly, and while helpful, they leave one feeling as if they are an inconvenience or just plain dumb. The last time I was in, I had some questions regarding specific food for our puppy who needed, per our vet, a food that was more grain-forward, and the girl kept showing me high protein brands. When I questioned her again, she looked at her colleagues and rolled her eyes. It is not unreasonable to expect a feed store to have alternative diet options than just grain-free dog food and treats, especially at the price range they in which they are offering their products. What's more, puppy foods do come in more than just chicken, even in brands than what they offer. I went to another store, who offered to help me order it, and when I reached out to the actual company, they sent me my first bag for FREE! To be a local, small business owner is hard, I get it, but if you continually reject your neighbors, who want to shop at your business, we will just choose to go somewhere else. On another occasion, I was in line behind an older woman, presumably in her late 60's, who was inquiring about a job, she had completed an application, and had some questions. I was not in a hurry, was not upset, and had not expression to indicate that I was bothered - quite the contrary! The young girl at the service counter was so incredibly rude to this woman, snapped answers to the applicant, rolled her eyes, sighed loudly, and showed very visibly her impatience. The applicant walked out, hopeful. The cashier then handed the application to another woman who had walked up, who just slid it into a folder under the desk, and filed it. They both apologized profusely to me for the inconvenience and "bother," to which I replied, it is not a crime to seek employment. I explained that I was not in a hurry, and that we all should show kindness to those who are desperately seeking employment at this time of year. I did note that day that there are no older folks working there, and really no one of diverse background. It is all young girls. Strange really. Anyway, I realized that day, that this is not really a place I feel I want to do business, especially when every time I go in, I do not feel welcome to shop, to ask questions, or think they even appreciate me as a consumer. Too bad, as it is a very niche business and vital for many pet and livestock owners.

I had an amazing, incredibly reassuring and successful experience with this team that saved me…read morethousands. Consultation fee was $110 for my dog that ingested toxic medication. I called following our local pet ER telling us to come in immediately, within the next 20 minutes, or it would be fatal. Obviously caused a panic- called them as I was leaving to find out the dosage and weight would be completely fine and normal to treat at home (with close monitoring). Steep fee, of course, but would've spent the whole night and an absurd amount of money in the ER if not. I asked a lot of questions that were answered in full, even the ones that admittedly felt stupid. They gave me full descriptions of when to actually be worried in dire detail, down to the hour, and provided a case number to call back if anything were to go down. Thank you all.

Very frustrating, ultimately pointless yet pricy experience. Came home to find my dog had ingested…read moresome human medication. Called our vet (close to closing hours) and they recommended calling the ASPCA poison control center. Armed with a list consumed meds and dosages I contacted them. I was on the phone for an hour and 15 minutes, almost all of it on hold. In the end, I was charged $115 (seems to go up every year) and advised to take her to the emergency vet. I was issued a case number and a number for the emergency clinic vet to call and consult. We arrived at the emergency vet and sat and sat; found out some of the wait was the result of the front desk person at the vet being put on hold for 45(!) minutes to consult with their "poison control specialist" vet. By the time we were actually seen by the vet it had been as much as 5 hours since possible ingestion. She was fine throughout, and is 100% herself this morning. The treatment was an anti nausea med and some subcutaneous hydration though she would have much preferred to drink for herself. It's enough to cause me to suspect the big corporate and venture capital-owned practices make big donations to the ASPCA to encourage their clearly understaffed poison line to shuttle patients towards emergency vet practices. Corporate-owned vet practices (more all the time- you should ask!) recommend both poison control and emergency vets. Never again calling this line, or giving to the ASPCA. Shameless1

She had been a regular at our old vet for nine years, and a couple of other vets in the area actually turned us down. Thankfully, we found Country View. They are very accommodating, and every employee we've encountered has had a wonderful attitude. They treat our dog amazingly, and the receptionists are extremely communicative. Our dog also had a small operation done here, and it went very smoothly. The doctor was very helpful in educating us on everything they would do with our dog, and the vet tech she was with the day of her surgery was very caring. I could truly go on and on about how great she was. She made sure our dog was comfortable the entire day of surgery, from drop-off to pick-up time.

I pleaded with Country View to do it as quickly as possible when I got there today since my dog was experiencing a great deal of anxiety. They required I listen to the cremation sales pitch first and pay in full, over $300, before they would begin. Then they said they would take him in back for one injection, then wait for him to get sleepy so they could insert an IV port into his leg. I questioned this procedure but they said it's how they always do it. So they took him away and brought him back to me even more stressed. After a few minutes he relaxed in my lap but then began choking and coughing. He struggled to breathe for a good 10 minutes until they came in to lay him on the table and shave his leg and put in the port. They kept giving him saline for what seemed like forever, then finally gave him the lethal meds. In a long lifetime of having pets I have never been more disappointed in a veterinary clinic and will never go back.
