A cool spot! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to set up for work or just hangout. We enjoyed chai lattes, hot and iced, which were sweet, with the perfect "spiced" flavor. The prices were decent and service was typical of a coffee shop. We would definitely stop here again and try more of their coffee and tea offerings! read more

Loved our Crwaffle breakfast sandwich. Probably spelled it wrong, but it is a croissant/waffle sandwich with bacon, egg and cheddar cheese served with a syrup. Did I say we loved it! Ambiance was very quiet. The city was a ghost town with students gone for the summer. The sandwich's were fresh and piping hot. We will be back to try many more menu items. This was a cute little cafe I've been trying to get to for a while. The staff was super helpful and patient. I ordered the Croffle sandwich, it's more savory than sweet. I'll be trying the French toast sandwich next time. They were out of French toast sticks. My friend had the grilled veggie wrap which he enjoyed. My husband the Turkey Brie raspberry sandwich. It wasn't much to look at. Not sure what it tasted like. All non-breakfast sandwiches also comes with a bag of kettle chips. I also had an iced latte that was quite tasty! My boyfriend has a bagel breakfast sandwich that's a quite big and it was delicious. I had a Asiago bagel and cream cheese. Definitely go during the weekdays or during the early morning. Lox bagel sandwich minus cream cheese + avocado ran about $11 which is a little pricey for a breakfast bagel but there's not much competition in the area and it got the job done so I can't complain too much. Not the best but not the worst and definitely better than other bagel places in the area. The food took about 10-15 min to come out and there's ample seating inside. Great option just across from the Residence Inn! Wasn't in the mood for the hotel buffet and decided to try this cute spot. It's an open-air cafe, with cool vibes and soft music. I personally felt that the portion size for the avocado toast was quite small. For the price, I was expecting a much larger and hefty slice of sourdough bread -- what they serve is a pretty small slice of toast. If super hungry, consider ordering two. It's yummy. :) read more

Parking is a bit challenging. This coffee shop has some very interesting flavors, which is always fun, and their syrups are made in-house. Always a plus! They have a nice outdoor seating area. The girls working seemed a bit overwhelmed, even though it wasn't super busy. There was an issue with one of the customers before us (something about her not getting what she ordered, but the employees argued that it was what she ordered). The customer was fine and said it was ok and just took her coffee and walked out with her friends. She wasn't rude or upset. Regardless, the two girls working the counter proceeded to speak ill of her and roll their eyes, with other customers right there watching. It was pretty uncomfortable and unprofessional, but I guess what can we expect from young employees? Other than that, the experience was fine. The coffee was GREAT! I'm looking forward to going back and trying a different flavor. read more

I had a great brunch here! I grabbed the lox bagel and an iced coffee. There is plentiful seating indoors and outdoors. There is a good selection of foods, juices, etc., on the menu. Parking is a bit limited as it is near campus but I didn't have trouble on the day I went. read more

In my honest opinion, 3.5 would be the rating because honestly the food was still great...however the place was still not clean inside nor outside-- especially outdoor seating tables were fifthly... No idea how this place gets high ratings other than it's in the state of Florida and that makes simply getting food out to the customer something to celebrate. Really awesome place in a cool and convenient downtown location. I work midnights, so it's nice to be able to go straight to work and get a great cup of coffee and a warm meal. They've got lots of outdoors seating, but with the cold weather it's nice to dine inside. The atmosphere is great and super fitting for Gaines St, and the staff is very friendly. But, onto the (literal) meat and potatoes of the review, the food and coffee were absolutely delicious. I ordered a Zoe's Revenge, which is a white chocolate latte, and it's damn near the best latte I've had the pleasure of sipping on. Complementing my coffee, I got the open-faced lox sandwich and it made for a tangy and filling start for my day. It's really hard to find bagels and lox in town! I'm glad that they not only serve them here, but that they're also positively delicious. I believe Tallahassee is home to many outstanding coffee shops. Catalina Cafe's new location at the Garages on Gaines is no exception. Eye-popping wall art upon entering was done right before my eyes during the past couple of weeks. It shows their unique concept of coffee done the Catalina way. Tons of seating inside might not be enough, because the steadiness of customers seems to pretty high. Every morning seems busier and busier. Aptly, they've added seating outside for you Al Fresco junkies out there (Daniel P. you know who I'm talking about). Inside you'll always hear great music, whether classic rock fills the speakers or contemporary indie favorites. The coffee is made by hand, crafted by wonderful baristas. This hasn't changed from their main location on Capital Circle. Except Micah. I do miss him. But everyone here is pleasurable and focuses on making your espresso with care and speed. Their cold brew with iced coffee cubes provides the morning or afternoon jolt you are in need of. Just an excellent place to hang out with a friend or knock out some work. You'll usually see the owners running around in their element, lending a hand wherever is needed. And if you're lucky, you'll run into little Catalina herself. After a hang out in the heat on Gaines I felt like a ice coffee to cool me down and get my caffeine fix in. Wow super nice selection of sourced coffees and some nice looking baked goods too. I ordered a iced CATALINA'S MOCHA one dark & one white chocolate. I am a big fan of Ice mocha's like bigtime but my girlfriend not so much. So I was thrilled when she said the white chocolate mocha was super delicious and her new favorite. Great place to take a coffee break and get on the wifi to get stuff done. read more

I LOVE the asiago bagel with bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, and avocado. Very filling breakfast and reasonably priced. The avocado toast is a little small for the price, I wouldn't recommend it. It is hard to work outside because there are no plugs it the outside seating area is big and really nice if you don't need to charge anything. The service is pretty good as long as it isn't really busy. I have been in on a busy morning and there was only 1 cook so I had to wait 15 minutes to get my food but usually it is quick. read more

I saw some of the other reviews on here, but I can only speak from my own experience. This was on a Saturday around 10:00am. We had a great experience and the staff was very polite. Admittedly, it was very slow when we arrived and it started getting busier before we left. It is a very small cafe, so perhaps they get too busy for their own good at times is all I can think of, in relation to the bad experiences on here. We ordered a cappuccino and a flavored coffee, both were excellent! The barista had zero hesitation when I asked for an iced water for lunch, since they don't have traditional drinks other than a few chilled bottled and canned drinks near the door. We ordered a lox bagel sandwich and a bacon, egg and cheese bagel and both were great! The food took less than ten minutes, but we did only get two bagel sandwiches during a slow time of day. Taste was great and no pressure to order something we didn't ask for, and the sandwiches were plenty filling. Higher prices are expected for downtown area, we spent about $23 for the items mentioned. I will gladly go here again in the future! read more
