I have been here multiple times with difficult paint color matches for touch ups and fortunately Evan is an expert at this, he keeps mixing and testing until the color is a precise match, the computer paint matching at the two big box retailers nearby were not even close, and unlike those stores these guys are super helpful and very willing to share their knowledge and advice. read more

I was trying to get the white of my cabinets matched in paint. I had already tried Home Depot but their computer analysis didn't get it right. The guys at Catalina promised me they could get it perfect, and they did. When I picked up the paint and my cabinet door they'd used to match, I could not even see the dab they had put on to test it. They also carry a specialty 2 part wood repair kit that is hard to find, but it's the best I've found to harden and then fill rotten wood. I'll keep going back. read more

Recently came by to get my plaster matched. I was fortunate enough to have Evan help me. Super kind! I can tell Evan tried his best to match my original formula and I so appreciate that! He did warn me ahead of time that it would be difficult to match because we were going from gallon to a quart and the minimum amount of blue was already being used in the gallon. Once I came home I used the plaster and could not tell there was a noticeable difference until it dried. I called Benjamin Moore and Evan answered. He had the best customer service and remembered the situation. I can tell he just wanted to make sure I was satisfied with my color. I told him I'd just come back to purchase the gallon to get the exact color match and he was kind enough to offer a price adjustment. I went in another day to get a gallon to match my original formula exactly and there was another young man who was there (i won't call out his name). I tried to explain to him the situation but he was adamant about not giving me an adjustment unless I had the quart can even though I had already spoken to Evan about it. He said I could go home and come back if I wanted the price adjustment. Such an inconvenience. Although he was probably right about me needing to bring back the quart can, I was extremely disappointed and turned off by the lack of understanding that he had. It was Evan's customer service that had me come back the second time despite not having the exact color match. Thank you Evan and Gabe. I had such a great experience with both this location and the Northridge location. Victor at the Canoga Park (CP) location went above and beyond to help me secure the paint I needed [Benjamin Moore Province Blue for those curious]. After I purchased all 5 gallons available in CP, Victor called other locations and even drove to pick up the additional paint and brought it back to the CP location so it would be there just in case I needed it the next day. This was vital because the CP location is 5 min from my workspace - where I was having the painting done. This foresight on Victor's part was amazing because *spoiler alert* we did indeed run out of paint. I can't recommend this business highly enough and will definitely return here for all my painting needs. Updating this review to note that this entire job was a team effort. Was very impressed by the customer service at this store. It's a small store, packed with whatever one may need for painting and then some. The folks working behind the register and answering the phones could not have been nicer. I called ahead looking for empty paint cans. The gentleman who answered the phone assured me he would set the cans aside. Sure enough, when I arrived the cans were waiting as promised. Doesn't get better than this! Highly recommend. I can see that they mainly get professional painter and construction workers who goes in and out of the store because they know what they want. Me on the other hand, needed a lot of their time. Just came back from Catalina paints in Canoga Park, were the manager of the store told me he didn't want to order my special Masters Paint, because it was too much of a inconvenience for him. He just ordered some and didn't think he needed to be bothered with my small size of paint and told me to go to MARK'S PAINT IN NO. HOLLYWOOD. I guess we should all go there instead of somewhere close to your house as I live about 5 min for Canoga park, and 35min from NoHo. I found it very rude and definitely a clear indicator that you do not VALUE my business. I guess the manager thought I wasn't worth his time to earn my business. My husband and I have a furniture Painting business, we only Use Master Paints and they are very expensive. ...Hence Catalina Paints told me have a good day and I DON'T want your business. Needed to find Liquid Wood, a product made by Abatron used for rotted wood repair, found out that their store, part of Catalina Paints, to be one of the distributors. They carry BM paint, Ralph Lauren and other hard to find items. Everyone was super helpful and even though it is a bit far for me, it was worth the drive. The only thing I'd like changed, is price listings on their items and they'll get 5 stars. Prices are competitive, I'm just moaning how expensive paint is these days, Home Depot included. read more

Have had good service but not today. Young guy recommended an expensive wood filler product but it was just too complicated. After a couple months I decided to see if I could exchange for store credit. I explained to a new young guy that I didn't have receipt and he gave me the typical company line. I told them it was unopened and I'd spend the proceeds and more at the store. The other young guy started to tell the new guy how to process the credit when the manager butted in not to do it. So I decided to paint my kitchen cabinets and had no clue what so ever as to what kind of paint, brush, primer, etc I needed. So as I walked in, a gentleman named Liano greeted me. OMG this guy was so helpful and knowledgeable that I can't say enough. He took the time and explained every single detail step by step. I could not believe someone would help you out to this detail. Had a 10 year old can of a custom color of Glidden Paint that had less than 1/10th of a can left in liquid form. I asked them if they could match the color, they said yes, give them 20 minutes and it would be ready. The Benjamin Moore Paint matched the old paint perfectly.
