This shop is right on the Main Street and very close proximity to Catalina Express. Not too far of a walk to the dock. We stopped to pick up some treats and souvenirs like Catalina Artisan Balsamic Vinegar, Catalina Artisan Apricot Jalapeño Jam, South Bend Company Sea Salt Chocolate Pretzels and Angus Beef Jerky Chips. This shop by the way smells so good. They have scented candles that fills the store with such a favorable scent. Catalina Pottery & Tile have a variety of merchandise for sale. I would have asked a number of questions, but the clerk on duty spent the entire time from the moment I entered to when I left talking on the phone. To her credit, she did put the phone down when I bought my patchouli soap, but that was about it. A lot of the fragrances seemed appealing. Unfortunately, there weren't any testers. And the signage did not encourage opening the products to smell them. That was a bit problematic. As it turned out, the only products I could "smell-test" where the soaps....which turned out to be very nice. And the bar was only six dollars, which I thought was very reasonable for its size and fragrance and being from a specialty shop.. A lot of the scents seemed Catalina-specific, but I have no idea whether or not there were actually local. It's really easy to slap a label on a product on a plastic bottle or rename it. Again, if I had felt comfortable asking the woman on duty about them, I would have tried to figure that out. I hope this was some emergency or, at least, a one time thing, but I'm probably not going to visit Catalina again this calendar year. And if Idid, I don't feel encouraged to come back.
