Great little mountain that is closer than you realize. New lodge, New food, fast lifts, what's not to love? Very clean facilities good little kid areas to learn. It's our favorite day tripper mountain so we come on a regular basis.

My favorite ski resort in the area - come here almost weekly and the lodge, parking, and triails are great for beginner or intermediate skiers! The price is very reasonable. My go to ski resort!

Catamounts "security gaurds" hanging out rather than helping to enforce the constant line cutters...

LINE CUTTERS took most of the fun away... This past weekend I came to Catamount for a day of skiing/snowboarding. Upon arrival it was obvious Catamount had updated their ticket system to a card, which automatically opens the gates while getting on the lifts. This was nice, as it in theory makes getting on much quicker. Unfortunately Catamounts lack of organization makes this a nightmare. Kids jump the lines constantly because there are little to no barriers. You stand on line for 15-20 min and watch as large groups just cut in front of you, avoiding the gates altogether. After having this happen to me countless times I complained to the lift operator (who was simpathetic) but stated it was not his job to enforce line cutters and jumpers. Catamount has many "security guards" but they just stand around chit chatting rather than patrol the lines. What should have been a nice day at the mountain turned into extended wait times and frustration. I love skiing here but catamount really needs to do something about this issue. Put one security guard at each lift (I believe there is only 3 main ones) They are needed more here than grouped up in your parking lot.

    Food and walking area.

The place is super remote. Not all employees wear masks indoors. They do not help you if you have difficulty, or to put on the equipment. One of the stairs was not working. There was too much mud when walking. Badly made coffee.

First, let me start by saying this is a cute little local mountain. The trails are fun. The staff…read moreis nice. And the lodges are nice as well. The issue, I believe, is with management. This mountain has the absolute worst management of any ski mountain I have ever been to. My family and I first discovered this mountain last year. So last year after having visited for an early year day ski trip we made plans to stay nearby for a couple of nights and ski a couple of days. Literally, the evening before we were set to arrive they called me to inform me that the mountain would be closed the next day as they were having problems with their lifts. Obviously, we were extremely upset having paid for a non-refundable hotel stay. I explained this to them and they were completely nonplussed. They acted as if though they were doing me a favor by refunding me my tickets....because they were closing the mountain. I spoke to one of their managers and she was absolutely unsympathetic. She simply could not care less. It was incredible. That was the last time we visited that mountain for the season. Fast forward to TODAY. I thought the above was a fluke. So I booked night skiing for my son and I. For TODAY at 3PM. They literally called me at 12:45p TODAY, while we were on our way driving up to tell me that they had canceled night skiing because...."it's going to be cold". No sh$& Sherlock. It's a ski mountain. What were you people expecting??? I skied Killington about a month ago. And it was around 3 degrees when we arrived to the mountain. Guess what, they were open. But, beyond this the people at Catamount actually called me 1 hour and 15 minutes before my ski time. To. Cancel!! WTF is wrong with these people. They didn't know it was going to be cold yesterday or the day before that or days before?!!! Come the f' on?!?! Again, they were completely nonplussed. The unprofessionalism and complete insensitivity for their customers is staggering. After this, I don't think we'll ever go back. Actually, I was planning to go with a group of friends this Friday. I think we'll go to another mountain. The management of this mountain sucks. You have been warned. Update: so they refunded my tickets. But, get this. They are still charging me a "booking fee". Can you frikin believe it?!?! They canceled on ME and they are trying to charge me a booking fee!!! Again, WTF?!?!?! The management at this mountain is the ABSOLUTE WORST!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!

The room was cute with some very nice touches - a decorative chest with extra blankets topped with a welcome candy; extremely plush bathrobes and a first rate hair dryer. It felt like some care went into the planning. Which made the downsides quite surprising. They are as follows -Leftover bottles, half-consumed - in our fridge from what I assume were the last guests. -The breakfast pastries were truly abysmal. Croissants so hard and tasteless that we could not eat them. I understand continental means light however some granola and pastries that didn't feel like bricks would have been nice. Very odd as brunch the day before was so good. We bailed immediately an went instead down the road to Mom's Country Cafe. -Dinner not nearly as impressive as brunch. I had read the negative reviews about the service but most seemed to be from a Thanksgiving debacle last year so assumed things had improved. The one waiter (for what looked to be at least 25 diners) was working his tail off and truly did the best he could in am impossible situation. Why they did not learn from the Thanksgiving experience is hard to understand. But kudos to the waiter for juggling this with a smile. Our wheatberry salads were ok - passable but nothing special. -Inconsistencies in the check in process as well. Check in is at 4. We arrived around 1 and were told by the young woman at the desk to wait till at least 3:30 which was fine but felt odd as it seemed like there was hardly anyone else staying there. They do offer early check in for $50 which IMO is ridiculous and unwelcoming. We went for a hike and returned around 3. The now gentleman at the desk told us our room was ready. In fact he said "the text letting us know how to access our room key is our signal that the room is ready." Interesting because I received that text at 1pm. The staff is friendly for the most part though front desk staff exuded some false sincerity and it seemed like our questions were a bit of an annoyance.

When you drive in to the resort, the Aerial Adventure park is visible right away. When I first saw it, it seemed smaller than I expected and I thought we would be done in a flash. Let me assure you, the aerial adventure course is a LOT more complex than it looks and it was fun and challenging for all of us, from teens to older adults. There are two levels to the course - first you do the lower level and then if you want to try the more challenging higher level you move on to that. Both levels are included in your ticket. Each section of the course is unique: some have zip lines, there are some climbing sections to get from one point to another, some have balance activities, and some rely on strength and ingenuity. Everyone wears a harness, so you are always safe (I did end up dangling a few times and was grateful for the harness!). Staff here is awesome and they train you before you go up into the course. The Mountain Coaster is also fun, although when we went around noon on a summer Friday, we had to wait in line for about 45 minutes to get on. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, but I LOVED the Mountain Coaster, where I go to zip down a mountain surrounded by trees and nature, and I could control the speed. I would love to do this again, but would plan to go earlier in the morning to hopefully avoid the crowds.

I had low expectations given the reviews I'd read on this site and felt worried we'd be throwing money away. We bought tickets ahead of time for the discounted price but I didn't opt in because I figured I wouldn't want to participate in anything. I brought a book. And then 10 minutes after arriving I filled out the 2 page waiver form and handed the lovely people in the Welcome Center $69 in exchange for my all day wrist band. What value! I had such a fantastic time. I was overwhelmed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff and the quality of the various attractions. I highly recommend going on a weekday in the summer as it was fairly empty and we didn't wait in line for anything. I was with a group of kids aged 12-16 and they all had a blast. But there are also plenty of options for young ones, including a trampoline bungee thing, a mini ropes course, and the mountain coaster and alpine slide. I saw parents riding the alpine slide with toddlers on their laps and it looked really fun. Both the slide and coaster involve long (slow) rides up the mountainside, but the views are beautiful and it's a lot nicer sitting on a chairlift in the summer than in the winter! The slide has two courses so you can go side by side with someone, and you can control the speed, just like on the coaster. There were so many people working and it was very safe, from getting on and off the chair lift to getting on the slide and learning how everything works. Note that if you're being silly and recklessly speeding on the slide you will get hurt. Like, baaaaadly bruised. (Not hurt enough for immediate medical attention, thankfully.) So, heed the warnings of the staff and don't do it. Instead, opt for the adventure of a lifetime on the ropes course. It was AMAZING. There were so many very competent and thoughtful people working there and it was really safe. It was scary, of course, but I never felt like "oh shoot this harness is going to break" or "geez, when was the last time they checked the ladder on this thing." In fact, they were actively repairing some elements on one of the courses (which unfortunately meant one of the courses was closed). There were some moments where you could get stuck or make the wrong guess about what to do next and it seemed like magic that someone on the ground in their bright vest would shout up some good advice. It was definitely an adventure with lots of zip lines and multiple stories off the ground. The staff carefully put you into your harness and then give a very thorough overview of the safety protocol and how to clip in and out of things. I loved that there were so many course options. Lots of great challenges for people at all skill levels. Two other attractions I didn't do but others in my party raved about: a climbing wall and a zip line ride sort of thing for two people. There is a snack bar (and a tavern restaurant I didn't visit) right next to the action and the allergy-friendly options were plentiful! Including Ben and Jerry's ice cream cups, so zero cross contamination worry. The bathrooms are in the welcome center and were clean with a baby changing table. No complaints. It was a super fun day, I highly recommend it, and I thought it was great value for the money.
