My love and I recently had two wonderful experiences, at Catch a Healthy Habit! We were visiting Fairfield, CT from NYC, and stumbled on a new and true jewel. We found the environment to be both welcoming and relaxing -- the first day, due to good, sunny weather, we even got to sit outside. Also, the first day we met and were served by Lisa -- who was so lovely; her warm smile and gentle hospitality quickly put us at ease. The next day we were served by a nice young man, but I didn't get his name. Alright -- the food! Let's talk food. : ) The first day, I ordered "the bagel" (everything is vegan on their menu), made with cashew cream cheese...and it was heaven on a plate! It was quite filling, too. I also ordered the Peruvian Passion smoothie, which was incredible. I wanted two of them, but didn't have any more room in my belly for another one. LOL So, the second day I ordered the bagel all over again, which was totally worth it, and opted for a warm matcha latte (with spirulina), drink instead. It was also incredible - and if you're a matcha fan, like I am - then I'd highly recommend it. It's rare to find a place where the ENTIRE menu can cater to someone who is on a dairy-free, soy-free and gluten-free diet. Catch a Healthy Habit is just that. Service was great and the staff was knowledgeable about the ingredients used and was able to answer all questions we had. I tried the spring rolls that were made with a wrapper made from coconut. You can taste the coconut in the wrapper which went along well with the tangy dipping sauce and the filling of kelp noodles, carrots, romaine lettuce and avocados. It was served cold, more like a Vietnamese summer roll than a hot, fried spring roll seen at other places. It was crisp, refreshing and slightly creamy from the avocado. It was a bit messy to eat, but still manageable. For my drink I had the minty chip smoothie. I found it interesting that banana was blended with peppermint and cacao nibs. It was good since the mint and chocolate flavors dominated the smoothie with only a hint of banana. Majority of the shake was blended well. I only came across a small chunk of unblended banana. My friend loved her two dishes: the curry quinoa bowl and magic mushroom elixir. I'd eat here again if I'm in the area. read more

The Tiramisu Latte Smoothie was pretty good. I didn't have any complaints about it. I got the "famous" Nori Wrap because I heard so many good things about it. ITS LITERALLY MAINLY greens wrapped in seaweed. All of the ingredients sounded REALLY good on the menu but once I got this pathetic little wrap I was so sad after spending $30..... This was my LUNCH and I ended up leaving with an empty stomach AND wallet..... I was really disappointed in this place because I had such high hopes for it. The portion sizes were just way too small. If you have a small appetite and a big wallet, come here. If you're hungry, go somewhere else. I ended up going to a nearby vegan spot and getting a muffin because I was still so hungry. Finally! A place America needs... vegan, organic and gluten free and raw. Ever since I came to the United States I've developed intolerance towards so many food groups...it worries me. This place is such a refresher, I can order anything off the menu without thinking twice. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect.. our waiter recommended a smoothie...but in a bowl, Say what!..topped with bee pollen, goji berries and nutola.. OMG! it was dessert that rewards you with all the health benefits. The spinach spring rolls were light and refreshing with carrots avacado and greens. On the menu was coconut water right off the shell.. I had to have it and oh! the coconut flesh... how i missed it.. esp. after growing up in a tropical country where this was a common affair. And since I have celiac, it's such a joy to have a place I know I can eat at safely. They are homemade almond milk is begond delicious which is why all of their foods and smoothies that use it are so a cut above. When they first opened and had all of their evening programs, I attended many with my son and learned so much. It opened my mind to new ways of thinking about many things. I feel like Greg and Lisa have been a font of information and I feel a deep connection to them both even though we don't socialize outside of the café. After a long drive, I was dying for a good vegan meal...I read the reviews and came here. Then left hungry to eat a second meal elsewhere. It has been a month since my meal here, so bare with me if some of the specifics are a little off. I ordered a "veggie burger" with a side of "potato" salad. I didn't read the menu carefully, I was rather hungry and just wanted food. I should've known that I wouldn't enjoy this place when I couldn't find one drink in the cooler that sounded delicious. I just opted for tap water. The burger was served on a flat bread, with nothing that resembled a burger at all. The "potato" salad was not made from potatoes at all - it was crafted with zucchini. I ate about half of it, and had to walk away. It was roughly $12 for the strangest mix of veggies I've had in a while. Granted, I was a vegetarian for 20+ years and have been a vegan for the past 2. I'm a marathon runner and was in town for the Fairfield Half-Marathon. I'm far from a fast-food slob, but I just wanted real food that resembled real food. It is very possible to experience healthy, vegan, and even gluten-free foods that taste like real food. I had debated trying one of the sweets on the way out, but after the disappointing meal was afraid it would just lead to more disappointment. Kudos to the owners for wanting a healthy alternative, but I won't be returning. Vegan nazis alive and well. That attitude annoys me so much as I've been a vegetarian for 20 years since back when it was an oddity and people fought me over my choice. Now the vegan nazis are alive and well - and quite discriminatory, I might say. Regardless, I feel blessed to have a place locally with raw food, vegetarian food and juices. What an incredible find! I went to Catch a Healthy Habit for brunch because a friend is on a raw vegan cleanse, but boy am I glad we got to try this place! The owner (or maybe manager?) was super helpful giving us a rundown of the menu and even letting us try some of their crackers/breads so we could make a decision about what to order. Walking into a place like this can be intimidating, so it was very helpful to have some special attention. I also watched as others were greeted as they walked in --it seems like there are definitely some regulars at this place! I had the butterscotch elixir, which was light and creamy. For my meal, I had the toast, which was served on an interesting vegan bread that is more like a thick toast. The topping options were awesome -I got a smashed avocado and the "ricotta." In terms of quantity, the toast is not a massive meal. However, when paired with the small elixir I got, it was VERY filling. Will definitely go back to try one of their smoothies! As others have noted, this place is on the higher end price-wise. The portions are also not HUGE. But, from a caloric standpoint, I think they're pretty spot on with what the average person "should" consumer for a meal. read more

OK SO, DISCLAIMER: it breaks my heart to pooh-pooh on a vegan small business but I just can't in good conscience rave about Catch A Healthy Habit. I've been a vegan for over five years now and to be honest, Catch a Healthy Habit is the kind of place that makes other people look down on us as being snobby or arrogant. :( This cafe is first and foremost extremely expensive. For all the plant based cruelty free goodness they promise to serve up, the portions are MEASLY and not filling, and nearly everything on the menu is inaccessible to the typical customer. It doesn't help that one of the owners, Lisa, is incredibly rude and cold. Every time I've tried to talk to her she's been unpleasant, as if she doesn't want to be there or I'm wasting her time. Even the time I told her how much I loved one of the smoothies, she couldn't be bothered to look up from her laptop screen or give any kind of indication that she cared. It was hurtful and while it wasn't the first bad experience I had with her, it was the last. Since then, I've stopped going to Catch a Healthy Habit (and to be real, my wallet thanks me for it!). For alternative plant based meals and desserts I HIGHLY recommend The Bloodroot in Bridgeport! It's far more inviting, affordable, and satisfying! And if you're more about the smoothies? Las Vetas next door blends up some yummy ones with fresh fruit and plant based milk for less money and with more kindness! read more

We had amazing meals at the Catch a Healthy Habit Café! The food was fresh and delicious and the service was exceptional! From the salad, to the smoothies, to the vegan burgers, to the "chicken" salad, to the kale and zucchini chips, all four of us were so very happy with our meals! Three guests were not even vegans!!! The portions were generous and the outdoor seating was lovely. The staff was so helpful with my food allergies and dietary restrictions; this was SO refreshing! The owner ACTUALLY beat BOBBY FLAY! What a great story and an impressive accomplishment! This café is organic AND vegan; this is a rare find!!! Food that is healthy and good for you, should be the standard. The interior was was sunny and warm, with friendly and helpful staff. Lots of menu choices, including smoothies and juices and so much more. I wanted a clean and vegan meal. I chose 2 meals for takeout--one to have for lunch and the other for a later meal. The tostada was my lunch. The marinated cabbage was so addicting and the chipotle cream really enhanced the whole dish. I think because I got take-out, the tostada fell apart--but it was so flavorful and the texture worked so well with the other ingredients. I would have preferred a bit more avocado, but the dish was such a delicious mix of textures and flavors. The other dish was spaghetti alla vodka, with zucchini noodles, pink sauce, and peas. Delish. Just wishing there was some more of that pink sauce to coat the zucchini noodles. I did find the servings to be a bit on the smaller side and more expensive that would allow for anything other than an occasional visit. It is great to have healthy options available. read more
