I'm not vegan, but I could be if I could eat like this every day! Joylark is a gem and I was so excited to try it. My favorite dish was the jerk tofu with mango chutney. It had a little kick but wow, it was incredible! We also shared the carrot tartare and the layered flavors were deliciously unexpected. For my meal, I had the oyster mushrooms and my friend had the cauliflower parm. Both were filling, unique, and never once had us missing meat or fish. I highly recommend Joylark! And, I can't wait to return for more creative dishes!

Our first time here of many more to come. (And we're not even vegans!) When we asked Miguel, our super nice and friendly waiter, for recommendations, he replied with a smile, "Everything is amazing" and he was not wrong!! We wanted a good sampling so we ate like pigs: Brussel Sprouts, Carrot Tartare and the French Onion and Lentil Wrap as appetizers. All were . . . amazing!! For entrees we ordered the Cauliflower Parm and the Charred Carrot and Tofu Curry. If I'm being honest, the Cauliflower was the weakest of everything we tried, but the Charred Carrot and Tofu Curry entree was lick-the-plate-clean delicious. We even ordered dessert just to complete our "eatravaganza". The Chocolate Lava Cake/Mousse and the ginger-miso vegan ice cream were the perfect ending for each of us. A fully plant-based restaurant is a bold move in Fairfield County but, even as non-vegans, we will be back to try more of their extensive menu, and we have every reason to believe Everything will be amazing!!

A vegans paradise with beautiful decor and seating experience. We dined on a late Saturday afternoon and it was quite full which was great to see. We ordered apps and entrees and had a delicious lunch. Loved the cauliflower soup and Yuzu Miso Kale salad. It was very creative and lots of unique flavors. We had a wonderful experience and definitely a must try even for those who are weary of an all vegan menu. Everyone was super friendly from when we arrived to when we left.

I've been in search of a full vegan restaurant in my area having turned vegan relatively recently. How happy was I to find Joylark! It is so refreshing to be able to order off an entire menu without modifications. The menu offers recognizable ingredients and exotic spices. Having said this though, some of the dishes we ordered did not pack a flavor punch as expected. For example the sambal cauliflower with hot and sweet sambal sauce was void of much flavor to satisfy our pallet. On the other hand, the chips and queso knocked our socks off! Here the flavor was perfect - a beautiful smoky chipotle like seasoning gracefully danced through the rich and creamy cashew queso. We even ordered one to go so that we could share with other family members and they were ecstatic about the flavors as well! I will go back for this in a heartbeat. My entree, the warm goodness bowl, was under seasoned as well and did not excite. It was a dish that seemed off the vegetarian/vegan section menu of any other restaurant I've been too. There was a garlic magic sauce mixed it but it did not seem to add anything special to the meal. I ordered a grilled tofu as a side and added it to the bowl which definitely helped make the dish more filling and entree worthy. My husband ordered the banh mi and was happy with his selection. He did not taste the marinated tofu but rather the accompanying vegetables and mango were more present. He loved the maple mustard sauce that he ordered with his side of fries as I liked the aioli that I ordered with mine. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake parfait which was quite creamy. The ambiance at the restaurant is nice as it totes a a sophisticated yet casual decor appeal. Upon our arrival the hostess was not around to greet or seat us so we relied on the hospitality of the bartender/server , John, to make us feel welcome. They certainly seemed under staffed for the night which may have been due to unforeseen circumstances (?). Our waitress Michelle was the star of the show with her kindness and service. Luckily we were not in a rush and were able to soak in the atmosphere. Overall Joylark is a great spot for vegans. The menu is not outstanding and offers seem more common and vegetable forward as opposed to new exciting variations of vegan ingredients - perhaps though I am spoiled by my recent visit to two outstanding vegan restaurants in NYC. We will certainly return to Joylark as it did provide us with an overall satisfying meal and ambiance.

Its been a long time since I've eaten at a restaurant thats impressed me this much. After hitting the gym in fairfield, me and my husband decided to go look for some lunch nearby. We wanted something healthy album also with good protein options. I noticed joylark had finally opened (in the spot where craft260 used to be). We decided to take a chance and check them out. Upon walking in, the place was remodeled very tastefully. I love the color coordination, its very chic. The bathroom has towels instead of papertowel which adds a nice eco friendly touch. The menu is pretty big, which usually is a red flag since its hard to keep up with so many options. My husband ordered different meals, including an Appetizer. Every since dish, every component even was flawless. The juice made me feel like I aged backwards, and the wrap felt like I was feeding my soul and belly at the same time. Everything was made with love and you can really tell. They have a happy hour menu that even includes a mocktail and I just thought that was such a thoughtful touch since I consider myself sober curious ;). I think I just found my new happy hour spot.

Had the most amazing experience here! I got takeout with my family and we arrived early while they were still making it. I would have loved to have dined in, as the ambiance was quaint and cozy. The service was so friendly and helpful and I could tell how passionate the employees are and how they really want customers to leave feeling happy and satisfied. While we waited at the bar, we were treated to some complimentary almond butter bites. These were nutty and perfectly sweet and a perfect treat! We all thoroughly enjoyed each dish we got. The serving sizes were way bigger than we anticipated so we had lots of leftovers! To start, we got the roasted beets, Brussels sprouts, sambal cauliflower and cornflake potatoes. The standout appetizer was definitely the cornflake potatoes which was in a rich and creamy garlicky sauce. The corn flakes added a nice crunch while the potatoes were perfectly cooked and were nice and soft. The beets were also fantastic I really loved the sweetness of the beets and roasted apples with a little savoriness coming from the sherry vinaigrette and crema. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Brussels sprouts to begin with, but somehow they managed to make them actually taste good! I really loved the sweet sauce they cooked it in to disguise the bitterness of the Brussels sprouts. The cauliflower was also wonderful and had a great crispiness and a tangy sauce. For entrees, we got the banh mi, burrito and charred carrot and tofu curry. While all of these were very tasty, the burrito was definitely my favorite! I really loved how they seasoned the beans and their homemade queso! The curry was also a must order as the peanut sauce had the most lovely flavor and was really sopped up by the carrot, lentils and tofu. They threw in some complimentary fruit, which was so fresh and perfectly ripe and a nice sweet treat. Parking was very easy in their large lot. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area!

I had a nice time. The food was presented well and the coffee was really well made. Lots of fun coffee flavors as well. Even for people who aren't on a plant based diet this place is welcoming and the food is very tasty. Decor is charming as well.

    cauliflower parm

Great sit-down ambiance & service, and remarkably inventive, delicious food & cocktails -- so many options! Cauliflower & brussels sprouts appetizers were perfectly-textured & tasted. My chopped seitan melt was phenomenal; my partner's crispy cauliflower parm really tasty (note don't expect italian flavors on this one -- it's more African/MidEastern-spiced). Run don't walk! It has perfect ambiance for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a bar/bakery/diner section, a happy hour menu, quiet discussion nooks. Just excellent! We are so happy a place like this exists now, and we can't wait to go back again.

But because it was so cold today, we picked one close to the train station for our lunch for three, and it turned out to be a great choice after our meal at Ryebird. Their website describes Ryebird as "A Neighborhood joint where friends and family meet" and that seems pretty much spot-on. The bar is gorgeous, the dining room is beautifully decorated with red painted walls, dark distressed wood tables, and stainless-steel colored chairs. The service was great, I mean outstanding. Our server Leo was friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We had a few conversations with Manager Thomas who was very charming and a real joy to talk with. And I haven't even gotten to the food yet! OK, here we go! Our party of three went with a small Chicken Soup for The Soul with Cheesy Bread ($14) for me. What's Cheesy Bread? Well, how about three toasted pieces of gooey pizza bread topped with a feta spread and olive oil. My brother-in-law went with their Daily Pot Pie ($23 for Chicken today), with a house-made buttery crust, scratch-made filling, and an added $4 up-charge for a gravy boat full of mushroom bourbon gravy. My wife went with a Roaster sandwich ($18) of pulled chicken, cheddar, BBQ sauce, pickled onion, on a baguette served with fries. We also had an order of Lemon Chili Zucchini ($9) for the table. The food was wonderful, as both the pot pie and the sandwich were devoured. My soup was a pretty big bowl for a "Small" but was loaded with more carrots and celery than chicken. I asked our server Leo if they had any hot sauce, and he asked me how hot did I want it? Ryebird has a few different types in increasing levels of hotness. I asked for the max, and he brought out a little ramekin of some of the hottest hot sauce I ever had. It was pretty much at my upper level of tolerance. I chatted about it with the restaurant manager on the way out, and he was pretty sure it was made with Ghost Peppers, so that explained my thermonuclear mouth numbing reaction. Anyway, we loved our visit to Ryebird. Their food is reasonably priced, portions are generous, the quality is high, and the service is exceptional. What more do you want in a Fairfield County lunch?

It was delicious! This time, I reserved a table for four, including guests who were up to an adventurous evening. The place was hopping! A Friday evening fun atmosphere and a beautiful bar that reminded me of a Paris restaurant. We were seated at a great table with banquettes in a corner of the front dining room. Our waitperson was excellent- energetic, informed of the menu, friendly & interactive, I believe her name was Shamira. We received great recommendations for dishes on the menu accommodating certain preferences. Following Cocktails - from the usual order of Scotch, to the " Crimson" spicy, indeed. The "Wanderer" imbiber said she could sip them all night. I, being mostly just a wine drinker, ordered from the "unusual wines" - a delicious white wine from Languedoc named "Picpoul De Pinet, Feline Jourdan", which paired very well with both courses. Based on my enthusiasm we all shared a bottle with our Main Course! Total alignment. We shared Caesar salads, which were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their selection of a main course: Halibut with corn risotto, Shrimp & Grits with spicy red sauce (just right spicy), My dish was Mussels in ginger & lemongrass red Curry, paired with grilled bread for soaking up that sauce, Yum!; a Whole Red Snapper with Mole sauce for my husband - most adventurous diner of the evening! We stretched ourselves to order two desserts: Crème Brûlée and Goat Cheesecake! Sublime. On departing the Restaurant, we were thanked for dining by the Proprietor, Wesley. We had an inspiring conversation about Bridgeport's future. A memorable evening.

Drinks first: my slightly dirty martini was made exactly right. My friend went with cosmo and it was equally on point. Whoever is behind that bar has their act together. Then the food happened. We started with grilled bread with an EVOO, agave, and chile dip -- sounds simple, ate like a statement. The char on the bread, the heat and sweetness of that dip. Good sign of things to come. Main event: shrimp and grits. Guinea flint grits, spicy red sauce, sage, stock. I don't say this lightly -- this is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The grits were creamy and rich, the sauce had real depth and heat, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The whole bowl just worked on every level. Dessert: goat cheesecake with pistachio dust and berry compote. Tangy, creamy, not too sweet, and that pistachio dust on top was a perfect finish. We cleared the plate.
