This is probably one of the few places in town that reminds me of home which is Las Vegas! The loaded fries are perfection and every time I eat here it's junk food heaven in my opinion. As long as I live in Charlottesville I'll keep on coming back. This is definitely a go to spot and sometimes I even catch their food truck. I'm a first time customer, so I haven't tried their other food but the pizza is absolutely terrible. Sloppy, greasy, bland. As someone who is passionate about pizza, I worked in a pizza shop for a long time and made pizzas. The sauce has no flavor, it's super thin and watery and also way too much of it on the pie which causes the cheese and toppings to slide right off. It soaked the crust and made it soggy as well. Not sure how they are making them but to charge $20 for a medium one topping is criminal for that experience. Gross. I tried two pieces for posterity and I couldn't finish the second piece. Whole thing tasted like cardboard. Please go to a class, learn the trade and try again. You can't pass this as edible pizza. Shouldn't be on the menu. read more

Okay, so I've had Catch the Chef before when I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak that was delivered. It was very good. I knew they had family packs, so I was keeping my eye out for the right one to come around. Finally, the Hibachi Family Pack. A HUGE box of rice, chicken, steak, shrimp, and veggies. It came with yum yum sauce and 4 drinks. Four of us split it with large servings. Ya'll we still have 2 servings left! It looks like leftovers for my wife and I tomorrow. It was a great deal. AMAZING!! I can't say enough. I ordered the crab loaded macaroni and cheese and it was phenomenal. It's a hearty helping of macaroni and cheese topped with large portions of crab meat and a delicious cajun cream sauce. The macaroni is essentially Kraft macaroni, but it is taken up SO MANY NOTCHES by the crab meat and cream sauce on top. I honestly had to go back for a second order before the truck left it was that good. The menu is pretty varied and I heard everyone raving about their meals - ranging from cheesesteak, surf and turf, and cheeseburger. Definitely check them out!! read more

So good!! They were in my neighborhood last night so we decided to give them a try. They had run out of Mac and cheese for the night, so my husband and I got Philly cheesesteaks per recommendation of the cashier. They were fantastic! I normally wouldn't go for a cheesesteak because I'm picky about the texture of the beef, but this meat was cooked to perfection! The fries were also great! Perfect amount of crispiness and lots of flavor. I'll also add that the staff was friendly, and the truck was very clean. They were also sanitizing everything between customers, which was reassuring to see. I can't wait to catch them again in the future, and I would love to see them back in my neighborhood! read more

I didn't enjoy my lunch as much as I wanted to, given that Madison doesn't have many food options. I wasn't too happy with the factory-breaded, fried shrimp on my po boy or the loaded fries I ate. It reminded me of the "all you can eat" variety served at Golden Corral. While I did not expect fresh seafood in Madison, a variation on the shrimp breading could really make this truck stand out. Maybe no breading would be an improvement? My son had a burger, which was simple and good. He enjoyed it and the fries that came with the meal. He also had a watermelon snow cone, which was very good on a hot summer day. My family enjoys shaved ice snow cones and we are happy that Madison has a place to get one! I'm not writing off the truck yet, and would like to give it another go someday. read more

Tried both the philly cheese steak combo and the shrimp po boy combo. Both were good, but the shrimp po boy was my preference. Love that they deliver if within 10 miles of Madison. We don't have many delivery options north of Charlottesville. Order was delivered quickly, within 30 minutes. Just wish there was a way to prevent the fries from becoming so soggy. I was walking hangrily in downtown Charlottesville this weekend before an appointment and needed to quell the monster. We happened to walk by Catch the Chef and I ordered an italian sausage which came with onions and peppers. I'm not always a fan of peppers and onions on italian sausage sandwiches especially when its too saucy on the bun, but this was fried just right that it had some good flavors and spices but the sausage wasn't doused. It hit the spot, plus he was pretty chill so that doesn't hurt. read more

My husband and I stopped at the truck last evening in Madison and ordered 4 tacos. We never had tried them before and there was nothing on the chalkboard about them being spicy. I don't like spicy and my husband said they were WAY to spicy even for him. I wish they would put on the chalkboard that the tacos (and maybe other food items) are spicy and you can maybe order them with less spice. Needless to say we wasted the $8.00, which isn't a lot, but it is when you can't eat the food and have to just toss it away. Very disappointed, the girl who took our order could have even just let us know the food is spicy and we could have decided then to order or not. read more

Catch the Chef has amazing food. I've never been disappointed with anything that I've ordered from them. I love the fried chicken sandwich (I add bacon and cheese to mine), but the star of the show is the cheesesteak. The cheese on the cheesesteak is so creamy and compliments the succulent, sliced steak perfectly. Also, be sure to add fries to your meal; they're simple shoe-string fries, but they're fried to perfection and sprinkled with seasoning salt. I will literally try to "catch the chef" anytime they're nearby; their food is that good! Additionally the owners are wonderful, friendly people who strive to please their customers. read more

They have great food and are super nice. Their fries are awesome. We found them at the Keswick winery over the Fourth of July. We had the grilled shrimp fries and the buffalo chicken fries. Both were outstanding. The sauce for the shrimp was different then I have ever had and went very well with the shrimp and the fries. Service was fast and they were very nice even though they were quite busy. This is definitely the food truck I will always look for. I may have to search them out before too long as well. read more
