It looks quite tiny from the front, and while it is a little bigger once you get inside it's still pretty small. They have some perennials in a strip outside (I noticed coral bells, lupines, clematis, canna lilies, portulaca, and delphinium), but the majority of their plants are annuals. Inside you'll find maybe 20 or so varieties of annual flowers and some decorative grasses. I don't buy a lot of annuals so I didn't pay as much attention to them. They had a teeeeeeeny section of herbs, and then an okay selection of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and squash. Maybe 3-5 varieties of each type of vegetable. The quality was decent, but not amazing. The perennials seemed to be in the worst shape, although it really just looked like they needed a good watering. Customer service was kind of meh. I could only see two employees working. When I was ready to make my purchases I had to wait at the register for several minutes. One employee was outside, and the other was just kind of wandering around inside, but she didn't seem very concerned about checking if anyone needed help (and it wasn't clear if she actually worked there). When she finally made her way over she wasn't rude, but also not entirely friendly, either. This isn't a big deal for a business like this, but it is something to consider. They are definitely associated in some way with Quality Flowers & Plants off of 3300th S, which is about quadruple the size, at least, so I'd probably go there first. If you only need a few plants, however, this is certainly an option. Their prices are the lowest I've seen anywhere (and seem to be the same as Quality's), so if you aren't picky and just looking for the most bang for your buck they have enough options that you should be able to leave pretty pleased. I vacillated a bit on my rating, and while three stars isn't great, and I don't have any strong complaints, they definitely aren't a four star business. And really, it is pretty average, so in the end entirely appropriate.

There are an abundance of gorgeous house plants and exotics, amazing selection of pots, gifts and classes. The staff is incredible, very nice and helpful. Am impressed with the cleanliness and organization which can be understandably compromised in a nursery. The prices are reasonable which often isn't the norm for these types of specialty shops. Plus they offer repotting which many places don't and they are open Sundays which is a bonus. And it's worth popping in just to visit Sprout, the adorable resident Axolotl!

I thought I killed my last one, but apparently they can go dormant in the winter! No one at the last place I went told me that. That's the best thing about this being a smaller shop, it seems like everyone here knows their stuff! (I'll take it if it's quality, and that's why I've stuck with them.) They'll offer a warranty on every purchase. DON'T fall for it because even if your plants die they'll fight you tooth and nail over why your plant isn't really dead (why it was human error which conveniently isn't covered by their warranty.) They've asked me to dig the plants at my mother's home and bring it back to them (some are massive!) do scratch tests, send pics, it's never sufficient and frankly it's getting exhausting. I have spent thousands over the years on soil, plants, flowers, trees, bushes, etc. but I'm so over it. The customer service (at least warranty) provides little service as possible. I've recommended family members to them and they have run into similar issues and I'm just not going to make recommendations nor shop there myself. My recent issue was with a purchased Japanese maple under the 5-year warranty (which costs extra) and they refused to honor it due to human error. Yet the one I got in the front yard (might I add at half the price, from a company online) is doing fantastic. What I do recommend: buy online, or any nearby home improvement store - at least you'll get a deal so you're not out hundreds of dollars if anything dies or needs replacing down the road. I'm so tired of burning extra money for "quality" I don't reap the benefits of at Glover. (Adding this in response to the business owner below: I took the tree out yesterday that your team of experts just last week gave recommendations on for it having "viable signs of growth". The trunk snapped - all light brown, completely dead. And the only reason they had the idea of depth was because that is what I told them might have happened. You lost a customer. What a joke)

I'm still salty…read moreabout the closing of their garden center in Sandy, but I've recovered enough to start supporting them again. This one is just like the SLC location, though maybe a bit larger, but offerings seemed very similar. I specifically seek out this business for uncommon fruits, vegetables, and herbs, but they've got all the things: trees, bushes, roses, seeds, fertilizers and other soil amendments, garden supplies and tools. The amount of houseplants leave a lot to be desired, but they do have some neat succulents and tillandsia. They've got a baby koi pond set up in the back. It's nothing spectacular, but it's still fun to see, and something for kids to do if they're stuck on your shopping trip. My largest complaint is always the price. Western Gardens is the costliest of most of the nurseries in the area, but again, I so appreciate that they carry unusual plants.

Thanks to the kind staff, I now have a beautiful hanging pot full of petunias, sweet peas, and sweet potato vines that makes me very happy. (It's the simple things, right?) Curbside pickup during the pandemic has literally been a lifesaver for me. As they have gotten busier, orders have been lagging for a few days, but I would happily wait as opposed to going in to a large, big box store at this time. Liqui-Dirt is a relatively new store, having opened at the end of 2019. I discovered them on…read moreInstagram, showing off a gorgeous planter. They are a bit out of the way, located near the South Valley Regional Airport, so you're just going to have to make it a destination on its own (They would fit right in on a cute lil' downtown street our boutique-y shopping area). When I arrived, what should I spot through their glass door, but a harlequin Great Dane puppy! I have one myself, just a few weeks younger than Miss Gaia who greeted me here, so of course I was already into anything they were selling. And don't you just love shop dogs? They are always the sweetest, so calm and friendly! We were also greeted by a cute little girl and her mother, who proceeded to explain their products, most notably the Liqui-Dirt fertilizer. This started it all about 15 years ago, and is a concentrated powder intended to be mixed with water. It is useful for all plants, and animal safe, so can even be utilized for aquaponics or ponds. Beyond it, they also carry a variety of pots and planters, heirloom seeds, soil, and many, many different plants. Their display of kokedama moss balls is gorgeous, and I would have snatched one up, but already have one at home. Instead, I admired stunning natural agate bowls, terrariums and colorful glass vases, but eventually settled on one of their house-crafted pots made of stone chips, because where else can you get one of those beauties? They come in a variety of colors and sizes, and the price includes plants! Picking my own was such fun, and they have so many options: loads of succulents, ferns, etc. Mostly standards, but a couple trendy, of-the-minute specimens too (I spied many pilea kokedama!). It took only five or so minutes for everything to be planted, and in the meantime, we paid for our purchase. Shortly after, my planter was revealed, and it is a natural masterpiece! The plants are arranged thoughtfully so as to show off each to their best advantage, living moss covers the soil, and moss covered sticks bring it all together. This is just my style, and I immediately started wondering to whom I might gift one, so I could return and put together more stunning creations! Our total was reasonable, with my planter, including the bowl, three plants, and service of having it arranged priced at $37. We also bought Liqui-Dirt. This is available in several sizes, from a small sample packet, the 8 oz bottle we chose at $35 (sufficient to prepare roughly 50 gallons, depending on use), to very large gallon and 5 gallon packages. This shop is tiny, and I do wish we had had a little more space to just look on our own. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience, and I will absolutely return.

Their great claim-to fame is their string garden kits, that, through a "plant ball," allow you to hang whatever you're growing. Whether aloe, a cactus, succulent, flowers, plants, or ferns, you've got a hanging and growing work of art. There are so any options of what to grow you'll have to check it all out yourself. All their products grow in their second claim-to-fame, Liqui-Dirt's plant food. The good folks at Liquid-Dirt are zymological gurus, big believers in the biochemical processes of plants. When it comes to their plant food, they believe in the "Power of 18." Be forewarned, there's a lot of s**t involved: from worms, from crickets, from bats, from rabbits, and from poultry (with a sprinkling of sawdust). Add to that alfalfa meal, blood meal, dolomite limes, gypsum, kelp meal, natural-flowing spring water, pH-balancing, and a handful or hard-to-pronounce-or-spell ingredients, you've got Liqui-Dirt's famous blend. Don't sleep on their other items: Garden seed packages for every imaginable vegetable, stone and glass bowls, plant health temperature and pH sticks, candle holders, and the rest. Liqui-Dirt's products are a little pricier than I would like, but the end-result is that their dirt grows healthy, easy-to-keep and provable plants. Just like their plants, I imagine the Liquidations-Dirt brand will keep growing and growing.
