Luis is nothing but a scamming, low-life loser. My friends and i booked him for dinner and breakfast on 2 seperate days. He showed up for the dinner, an hour late at that and cooked the most subpar food i've ever tasted in my entire life. food was beyond bland and the presentation was not worth the money we paid at all. it tasted and looked like my dog made it. not to mention 4/5 of us on the trip all got food poisoning afterwards from it! the day he was meant to come for breakfast, my friend had reached out to the company via whatsapp an hour before he was meant to arrive and she got no answer. she then got a text from Luis' personal number saying he was unable to make it for breakfast bc his so called mother was sick in the hospital so he would need to reschedule or either refund her. still being hopeful, she agreed to reschedule. on the rescheduled date, he didn't show up at all. no text or anything to let her know beforehand. he completely ghosted her for about 24hrs where he finally responded and said his partner in crime of a mother is still in the hospital so he still couldn't make it and would issue a refund. shes been asking when he would send it and he's been ignoring her ever since. i even reached out to him myself for the same reason and he has refused to answer me as well. DO NOT HIRE THIS "COMPANY". Worst experience for NYE Dinner!!! "O" Stars rating if I could! We paid the company 100% upfront for them to deliver a menu on December 31st we agreed on many days prior. They showed up later than the agreed time, food for 8 people (or less) when we paid for 12 people and the cook admitted to have been advised for 8 people earlier that day. Not only we missed food but also dishes. They swapped lamb chops for (1) small pork rib for each guest, the salmon portions were cut in 3 and heated on the microwave to split for the missing food, the "so called" table decorations never arrived, the churros were served burnt outside/ raw inside before the last main dish. Last but not least the "paella" was missing. About an hour into the night, some guys showed up at our doorstep with ingredients for a white rice with 2 types of seafood which they served as "paella". Very disappointing service and food, especially for the date we reserved with our whole family. We asked the "chef" to refund us and after not replying for several days he mentioned it will take 15 business days for the refund. Hence we paid in cash via transfer. Never got a confirmation the refund is in transit or anything. If you want to be in for a bad time and get hustled, this is the company to contact. read more

My friends and I were celebrating a marriage and a proposal in Tulum, and thought having a private chef come cook at our airbnb would be perfect. AND I WAS RIGHT?! Chef Luis did not disappoint! The process is very easy and simple. I emailed Chef Luis to get a quote and was sent an extensive and affordable menu to choose from (lots of great choices) This is what we decided on: Starters: Beef flour empanadas Fresh fish ceviche with coconut and mango Sikil pak Main course: Rib eye with garlic butter Cochinita pibil tacos Lobster (extra $ but well worth it) Sides: Grilled corn with chipotle dressing Rice and beans Asparagus with bacon and honey Dessert Season fruit sautéed in mezcal with ice cream Everything was very tasty and delicious, but my favorites were the rib eye, lobster, and ceviche, and i also noticed Chef Luis threw in some potatoes too! I'm amending my previous review. Chef Luis was responsive and helpful. We booked him to pre-stock our villa with drinks and snacks, and to prepare a Sunday dinner for us in our hotel. I sent a down payment for our services via Western Union before our arrival, as they provided a musician for free for doing so. I was admittedly apprehensive, but it worked out fine! He told me I could pay the rest via PayPal, but then asked for cash upon arrival, saying he needed it for our groceries. Fortunately, I had enough to give him. We were saddened to hear the area had been hit by a Tropical Storm the morning of our arrival. Chef was unable to bring our food and drinks to our place for about two days, which we were very understanding of. He also didn't bring all of our items, and told us he'd bring them later that afternoon. He never ended up getting back to our house, which again, we were understanding of. I don't think that is typical for this business, just extenuating circumstances. The Sunday dinner he prepared for us was absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, high-quality, and plentiful. Unfortunately, the bartender we booked to come with him never arrived, but we made it work. The DJ was a lot of fun for us gals! Chef agreed to a $200 refund for the missing groceries and bartender. We struggled with communication around that, but he was apologetic, and ultimately, I received the refund about 12 days later. Thanks for the wonderful sendoff meal / experience! read more

When I think about celebrations, Catering Tulum & Private Chefs is always my first option when I am in the Cancun area and need a private dining experience. Chef Luis and Nubia never disappoint! From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. PLEASE READ BEFORE RESERVING A DINING EXPERIENCE: My group made a reservation with Chef Luis' team to cater our event as the menu and additional services were exactly what we were looking for during our trip. The booking process was seamless and everything was all set for our private dinner...until the day of. I received an email from Chef Luis' team acknowledging that our reservation was unfortunately cancelled due to personal reasons but we would receive a refund within the next few days. While this was very frustrating to be notified within a few hours of our reservations our group understood and Made other arrangements. This is where things got things went south - I contacted Chef Luis on multiple occasions to check the status of my refund and received nothing but excuses and delays. Saying things like "I'll get back to you to address any questions or doubts" to which I never received a follow-up. I even went as far to personally request the refund on PayPal for Chef Luis to simply accept but he kept stalling saying he didn't have access to his passwords but would process my request soon. Ultimately, I'm thankful that I paid the deposit via PayPal as I was able to create case to for a service that I never received. PayPal gave Chef Luis a period of 10 days to respond or settle the dispute to which he also didn't follow-up on. I didn't want to write this review as I understand these are difficult times we live in. However, I was super disappointed with the level of customer service I received from Chef Luis surrounding the cancellation of our event. However, with covid being so bad at the time, we cancelled our trip and I had reached out to chef Luis asking for a refund. He understood and agreed to wire me back the refund. But with a bunch of constant messages back and forth, he kept making excuses on why he hasn't done so. "I didn't get your message" "I had no connection" "we'll do it tomorrow". Long story short, never received my refund. Don't book them. They're untrustworthy. Luis was so accommodating and entertaining when catering to my group of 19 in our Airbnb in Tulum! From start to finish, he took about 3-4 hours to prep, cook and clean for our large party. We had a large selection of food ranging from appetizers to desserts. The whole experience was definitely one to remember and Tulum will have a special place in my heart because I got to eat a great meal with great friends all thanks to Luis! For appetizers, we had several options: salad w light dressing and pine nuts, quinoa salad, shrimp ceviche, bread basket, mashed and sweet potatoes. My favorite of the appetizers is tied with the ceviche or mashed potatoes. Both were extra delicious. Ceviche was light and refreshing with lime cooked shrimp that was still a bit raw for added texture and taste. For the main dishes, we had ribeye steak and blue prawn shrimp which was ginormous! The ribeye steak was cooked and cut to perfection. There was enough marble to add flavor to the cut but not too much that it overpowered the steak. Super tender and juicy. The shrimp was sweet and seared to a perfect crisp. Both of the main dishes side with the choices of appetizers really married the overall experience together to create an explosive flavor burst in my mouth. To top it all off, the dessert was sooo gooood. I believe it was some sort of Dulce de leche pudding. Not overly sweet which is great but enough to end a great epic dinner! Luis and his assistant even helped us wash dishes after! Great service from beginning to end. I would book him again if and when we come back to Tulum!! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. The lights went out in tulum after the chefs prepared our food, we asked the chefs to put the food in the fridge since we didn't want to eat in the dark. After the lights came on and the chefs left we looked in the fridge to eat and all the food was gone! The chefs stole all of our food. We called the owner right away. The owner backed the chefs up and claimed they didn't take it. This company is so unprofessional we paid our money only for the food to be stolen!
