I really want to give this place 3 1/2 stars but Yelp doesn't do half stars so let's break it down. Food 5 stars. Service 5 stars. Ambiance 2 stars. This place just is not very clean but you can tell they are making an effort, maybe. My friend and I split a 2 piece catfish meal and asked to add a 2nd salad and they charged 8.99 which is insane because the salad bar is so basic. Let's be clear if I could give it zero I would. First and foremost they haven't changed the look of this place in over 20 years I know my wife use to work here. The inside is just as dirty as it always has been. The staff are nice enough they are not the problem here. The main issue is the food is not good. It's just fried garbage and it's not cheap. I forgive the fact that they serve you in paper plates but the catfish is soft and slimy. If you want good catfish go find a better place. My favorite was driving away. I might return in another 20 years. read more

Bottom-line: Recommended! We were seated right away and were waited on promptly. My wife ordered a shrimp po boy with grilled shrimp with the salad bar, I ordered fried catfish fillets with the salad bar. We helped ourselves to the salad bar and was very pleased with the selection. There were 30 or more items on the salad bar, the lettuce was fresh and all the other items for the salad were fresh also. There were several salad dressings to choose from, as well. Our food came out promptly and it was nice and hot. It had obviously been made to order. The catfish was delicious, as were the sides of hush puppies, and fried okra. We enjoyed our dinner at the Catfish Hut. The employees were friendly, and the service was great. This is a great little gem near the campgrounds around Enid Lake. Always try to support local small businesses, 1st time to this restaurant, seated quickly , menu is huge for a small restaurant, salad bar was ok, but basic ! Food was brought relatively quickly , 20 min or so , what really didn't sit well was , the food was kind of thrown onto the plate , and the Texas toast was laid in the middle of the. Gravy on the mashed potatoes and gravy, so it was soggy and messy , Mashed potatoes and gravy was canned, not home made , which is not unusual nowadays, which is too bad , home made is a trademark and appreciated ! But hard to find ! Taste of the food was , not what I expected! Given the ratings were really good! The food was kind of thrown all together on a paper plate ! This is a commercial restaurant, and they don't have to have a commercial dish washer ,and have real plates to serve food on ? I had a restaurant for 12 years, and would have been ashamed of the presentation of the dish ! And to pay the bill, was asked about the tip !! A tip is supposed to be earned, not mandatory ! It's supposed to be for exceptional service !! ( I did leave a tip in cash on table .Not because I felt it was earned , thats for sure , but it should not be a subject at the time of paying for the meal !! This is the best catfish! We have been coming here for years and it is always great food!!! Catfish, baked potatoes & awesome salad bar. Cheeseburgers, hamburgers, milkshakes, & ice cream are also great! But, really, we go for the catfish because it is awesome , but they have so much more on the menu we have not tried. Everything we Have tried is great. The service is always friendly, kind and fast. The ambiance is an awesome laid back country style. We always enjoy &have for many years (3+ decades). read more

Not sure how this place stays open. I can't believe it's passed inspection. There were so many things wrong with this place. They have a salad bar. I wanted a salad. Too many flies for me to eat anything except something cooked. When I walked up to the salad bar, I saw 3 flies! The window sills had dead insects and dirt on them. A waitress had her small child there sitting at a table. My cooked food consisted of fried catfish, fried okra and baked potato. All were good. I have nothing bad to say about my food but I just can't get past the uncleanliness. Oh and if you plan to pay with credit card, prepare to pay the up charge for using it. Hubby did not see any signs about it. You just get it smacked on your bill. read more

We swing in on our way through. Food is good. Not greasy. Service is a little slow. But make no mistake, our food came out so hot we had to wait for it to cool down. The lady that seems like she runs the joint is very nice and courteous. We got the frog legs and catfish. Nice little country place very to Lake Enid. We've been a couple times and enjoyed each time . The catfish is good and fresh . The homemade fries are great and perfectly cooked . Our server was very nice and stayed on top of drinks . We will stop by again next summer when we are here camping. read more

I recently found out, looking at Google Maps, that this place still exists. So glad it still does. I live in Michigan but in the 1980s, my grandparents lived near Enid and they would take my brother and me to this place when we visited almost every summer. We loved it. Best catfish I ever had, and I think it was the first place I ever tried catfish. It's nice to know that a place from my childhood memories is still around when so many other places aren't. I remember when they had "rooster fries" on the menu; not sure they still have those, but that's ok, because I never tried them and knew I never would. LOL! I remember the atmosphere was friendly and the owners were nice. Probably not the same owners any more, but hopefully whoever owns it is keeping the original spirit alive. If I'm ever in Mississippi again, I will visit this place again. read more

Not fancy, but great catfish! Took some home and it was wonderful the next day. Chicken, not so much. Ordered a blackened chicken breast, when it finally arrived, no seasoning whatsoever. But thinking now I should've just taken the pork chop that the waitress accidentally ordered instead of waiting for the chicken breast! Pork chop looked a lot better. NI decided to pay the ol Catfish Hut a visit while taking in the peace at Enid Dam. I heard Catfish Hut was under new management, so I paid the the Hut a visit to see how it held up. I was not too surprised to see the place still around like its been most of my life and better yet, it wasnt too busy. Pulling in near the pickup window, I approached and they thought I was picking up an order but after clearing that up, it did give me an idea of what I wanted. I asked for a menu so I could give it a quick glance at their goodies and I made up my mind. After placing my order, the attendant lady finished writing it down at said it'd be ready in around 15 minutes. That gave me plenty of time to work up an appetite by sitting pretty in my jeep, scrolling on my phone. I was surprised when I looked over my dashboard to see the gal calling me over several minutes early. An appetizer of Mozzarella sticks, a jumbo cheeseburger, Grilled chicken sandwich and fries was stacked up at the window, waiting to be paid for. As soon as I settled, I opened everything to make sure it was in order and I found the portions more than I bargained for, not that I'm complaining. I had more fries than I knew what to do with and I was glad to see the jumbo Cheese burger's name isn't for show. I always make it an obligation to eat a mozzarella stick fresh before judging it and it was a treat. Coating had a pleasant but not overwhelming hint of garlic and the cheese was gooey like it should be. Getting to a picnic table at the preservation area, I finally sank my teeth into the burger calling my name and it bit back. The meat was still hot and held me in disbelief. Didn't expect to get a perfect burger this far from town and thats the score I'm giving this place. read more

Fill your gut at the catfish hut. That's written on their front window and it's true, come hungry. Some of my favorites are hamburger steak and gravy with onions, the bologna sandwich, and of course the catfish. Once again large patrons means great food. Typical "place by the lake" catfish place. Good food but the service can be very slow if busy. Go, but do not be in a hurry!
