Service was ok. Food was awful. Expensive, child size portion, fish undercooked, everything else overcooked

Food was mid. One of their employees decided to park behind me waiting on a spot that I was blocking because I have a 36 foot trailer and two babies in the back trying to feed them so she waited and blocked the pathway for thru traffic. There was about eight parking spots in front of my vehicle, but had to get that one spot I was in front of. Just for being inconsiderate I will tell people not to come here & like I said food was just ok I rather have went to cfa. Should've took a picture of her blocking the way & all the parking spots available but the business can pull the footage. read more

First time here. It was suggested by Dr GF's niece and she KNOWS good food. It was kind of a late lunch so it wasn't crowded. Service was really good and helpful since 2 of the 3 of us had never been. The food came out quickly! I had ordered shrimp and catfish. The shrimp was okay but the catfish was the star! Good breading and really good tasting catfish. It reminded me of family fish fry catfish! It wasn't spicy and sat just right in my belly for the rest of the 2 hour drive home! Ordered a chicken/fish combo and large tea. Received what I ordered. Wait time was long, which was probably reasonable if all fixed when ordered. Cost was reasonable, food was all warm or hot. Chicken tasted ok. Catfish was very bland and an unusual pale color. Hush puppies were odd, but tasted ok. The toast was the night spot. The iced tea was horrible... bitter. I did not try the coke slaw nor beans. Generally I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The food we ordered was a senior catch. Little pieces of fish that where chewy, pinto beans tasted like some canned thick mess, everything cold and the whole dinner wasn't worth $2.00. Very very disappointed read more

Busy place on a Sunday, 1 PM ish. Ordered to go and it took 30 minutes. You're in the same queue as all the eat in orders, they don't speed take out. So if you want take out, definitely use the drive-thru. Otherwise, food was good. I liked the chicken fried steak more than the fish, the other party preferred the fried fish, but we both liked both. The coke slaw was good though a little runny (messy). The hush puppies were different. Someone else got the baked catfish and I was jealous, it looked the best (though I didn't try, and the chicken fried steak was really good). The people working there were nice. The lunch prices were really good for the amount of food. I would suggest. Just use the drive thru if you need takeout on the weekend. Pepsi on the fountain. Multiple hot sauce choices. read more

We came across this little gem while seeking out another restaurant on Yelp while traveling thru. So, so glad we missed the first one and ended up here. Excellent catfish...hands down. It is cooked perfectly & the breading is just perfect. Exceptional value for the price which was surprisingly low. The only thing I didn't care for were the hush puppies, but that's just a personal taste thing. They, in no way, take away from this place. I'm surprised there isn't a line out the door! There should be!!! Will definitely seek this place out again should I ever be nearby again. read more

I'm an 84 yo, Disabled woman, & when I want fish, I WANT FISH! I ordered the biggest family meal they had, which says it should feed 4-5 people, & with tax, the price was $38.99. Service was AMAZING, FRIENDLY, & PROMPT! The young man greeted me as soon as I pulled up to the speaker, & at the window with a smile. When I was ordering the food, he repeated my order to me to ensure it was correct, & he had it correct on the first try. The food was not as great, but you could tell they tried. It WAS hot, & fresh, & I asked for onion, tomato relish, & all the condiments; and received them. The only complaint I've got about condiments is that I wish they'd given me more tomato relish, & they didn't have ANY lemon slices, or lemon juice packets!! As for the hush puppies, they were fresh but hard. The next day, they were even harder, no matter what I did. The fish was in very skinny strips, & while the breading WAS crispy, there was barely fish inside, & it was dry. The French fries were limp, but flavorful. The beans were VERY tasty, & not mushy, but there was an excess of juice. I DID combine the excess juice with the French fries & it was really good. Point to be taken, when I want fish, I want FISH inside all that breading! I sure miss the lemon juice & the fish. I didn't eat in the restaurant, because I'd ordered my meal to go, so I couldn't comment on the ambiance. In closing, the portions of the fish need to be bigger, & a few drinks included along with the meal would be the cherry on top. For $40, why not? read more

I absolutely LOVE Catfish King!! I was on my way to Arkansas from Texas and stopped by to get a catfish sandwich. I left the drive through, got back on the interstate and opened my sandwich. Not only was the catfish soggy , it was raw, cold and had a white crust!! The worst thing I've ever tasted!! If I could give it zero stars I would! read more

Fried Catfish, Iced Cold Sweet tea, french fries, hush puppies. Not the best fish I have had but not bad. This is a typical southern fried fish joint. I enjoyed it for lunch and I am real picky about my catfish. Wasn't the best, but wasn't bad. read more

Have been eating here for a number of years. Prices and amount of food received are reasonable. Cleanliness us usually OK. Staff turnover is high. The dining atmosphere could be vastly improved if management would update the selection and tone down the volume of the background music which consists almost entirely of very early country, i.e., is of the Earnest Tubb and Kitty Wells genre. (This might also be contributing to the turnover in staff since most of the wait personnel are very young.) Of utmost importance however, is the food quality. It's usually pretty good. Not "five star" quality, but pretty good. However, on some of the shrimp orders I have received, the shrimp tastes tough and spongy. It's usually light and tender... but not always! This is probably a result of having been cooked a longer period prior to being served as mentioned in an earlier review. Also, I have ordered chicken fried steak and the steak had so much gristle I couldn't cut it with the plastic knife or chew it enough to swallow it. The beans served directly from the kitchen are barely warm if not cold. On a few occasions, some pieces of the fish were so thin they were too brittle to eat when served. The salad bar could be cleaned and serviced more often. Now, after having said all the above... Yes, I will continue to eat at this establishment so long as the majority of the food quality and service are acceptable. read more

Well this place is good for home-style fried catfish like your grandparents use to make. I do have to compliment them on their french fries....I believe they use the same oil to cook the fish as well as to fry the french. Hush puppies are so-so.......but their tomato relish is out of this world. If you require tartar sauce and you are in the drive-thru then make sure you ask for some and it'd be in your best interest to give a number of how many you want. read more

Get the all you can eat shrimp, the catfish if good as well. The staff was friendly. Good place to stop to fill up when on a long road trip.

I ate at this establishment and the food was fine. It has come to light a manager has been allowed to cuss at staff as a motivation for improving service. I cannot and will not support a business that allows this type of abusive and unprofessional behavior. I suggest the owner look into the management and training practices being conducted at his establishment. That behavior is abysmal. read more

I have been going here for years. The food is good but management does not understand that fish and fries cannot be cooked before someone orders it. They always anticipate a lunch crowd and you can end up getting warm fish and warm fries. I placed an order and they had it ready in less than 5 minutes. That means your food more than likely is NOT fresh. This location is basically 50/50 on whether or not your food is FRESH. If they cook it fresh for you, I'd would give them a pretty good grade , however be prepared to get some fish and fries they made prior to you walking through the door and ordering.
