I think I remember getting 16 pieces of clothing. They also sometimes text you 20% off your entire purchase, and since it was my first time at the store and signing up, I got that 20% off. The organization is pretty decent with home goods on the left side of the store, and men and women clothing divided into sections and sizes on the right side. My last visit I found shoes I was able to use for a cosplay, and a couple of sequin clothing perfect for performances. There was no staff to check me out for a good 10 minutes though... so that was pretty annoying. I don't frequent it too often because Philadelphians hate paying that $6 to go to Jersey. I haven't been to the Goodwill in Philly, so I'm not too sure how they compare.

These people are pros at managing volunteers…read more This is not an easy task. You have to understand first what they can learn to do in a very short period of time. Then you need to make sure they're enjoying doing it. Lastly, you need it done right. It's a skill. Philabundance clearly understands this and has the entire process mastered - from check in to departure. I arrived to work with a group of colleagues from my company. The volunteers have their own parking spaces and their own sign in and waiting area. Cleverly they have these little kiosk things that allow you to use your credit card and make an instant donation that adds to a total for your group. Nice. Tables, chairs, clear lockers for storing personal goods, heavy coats along one wall for those working in the refrigerated area. We had a brief orientation where they talked about the mission of Philabundance, then we were split into two projects. I was on a project making up food boxes for elderly people in need. They reviewed what each of us did and we were off. The boxes came along a conveyer belt and we all had stations. I kept thinking of the "I Love Lucy" episode and smiled to myself. We worked a total of 3 1/2 hours with a 20 minute break halfway through. We made up our goal of boxes - 600 - and helped the other team package pints of milk in the cooler area when we were done. Group photo on the way out, and we were leaving feeling accomplished and happy. They were professional, friendly and very organized. Impressed.

It's a huge building with lots of senior services including an adult daycare, Home Health Aides, very reasonably cost senior transportation, and a host of other programs that they offer to low income senior citizens in Camden and Burlington county. I'm very fortunate my mother lives in their catchment area as she needs the medical transportation. We've just begun this relationship with this organization and I've been impressed with how they manage to provide services even though they are operating on such a low-budget. I was happy to make a donation to them as I could see it goes directly into helping seniors like my mother. The staff there is so pleasant to work with and are dedicated and do such a good job. I will say however that because of the low budget and staffing and the reduced number of hours with the medical transport you have to make the calls in on time in the morning to schedule and it's required two weeks in advance for scheduling medical appointments and you have to call the day before to confirm every appointment. With more money I'm sure they can become more and more automated in this process or at least have more vans and more staff available. My mother said that so far the drivers were very nice and they were on time and that they drive good too. And that is high praise from my mother.

My sister "adopted" a dog from Peyton's Place Animal Rescue, and the experience was heartbreaking…read more When she picked him up, dogs were piled on top of each other in a filthy van and many looked sick and neglected. After bringing him home, we rushed him to the vet where we learned he was extremely sick and nearly died. For weeks he hid constantly, and to this day he is terrified of men and other dogs. Looking back, there were many red flags, including high adoption fees, little information about the dogs, and the owner admitting they came from breeders. We love our dog deeply, but we regret supporting a place that claims to be a rescue but buys dogs off backyard breeders and puppy mills and leaves them to die.

Maybe they had a bad vet reference and didnt take care of their existing pets? Bad personal references? Sour grapes is the only reason to say anything negative. I have fostered and adopted and hsve nothing but positive things to say. They are what all rescues should be. A+++
