The food is absolutely fantastic here but the customer service is even better. Their credit card machine was down and I had left my cash in my car. Was told don't worry just pay next time you're in. I think the lady that works at the register taking orders is incompetent or has something personal against me. I ordered a breakfast burrito with just cheese potato eggs and bacon. I get home and there is practically no bacon in this burrito, just a few tiny tiny pieces. I go back the next week and order the same burrito with extra bacon. I come home and the same exact thing. I can't see or taste any bacon. I opened the burrito and see pretty much zero bacon. How pathetic, I will never again go to Catrina's what a terrible restaurant. Very busy and only two people working. Was able order and get food very quickly. Very few places to sit down. Mostly it appeared that everyone was getting food to go. A couple was finishing and let sit with them. Clean and bustling. Food was good. Green sauce was milder, red was spicy but I could eat it. Rice and beans seemed very fresh. Such a nice family run business in downtown Peoria. The staff is super nice and the food is great. I had the Arroz Con Pollo which was a good size portion and delicious. The chips and salsa are a must have. The salsa has a little kick so be ready for the medium spicy flavor. Service is swift and the food is great. What more can one ask for in a lunch time spot. Being from San Antonio we are always in the lookout for great Mexican food. We were not disappointed. The street tacos were great but their salsa! Yum. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. Just moved to Peoria Catrina's is close walking distance to downtown, good authentic taste, and they have Horchata (that tastes so good)! Steak Tacos were great, also had Pastor tacos, and they put pineapple in them, not everywhere does that. It made them taste so good. Hidden gem in the middle of Peoria. Was in the area for a couple of days for an event and scoured the area looking for some good food. Stumbled upon this hole-in-the-wall while scrolling through reviews online. Atmosphere is very casual and complete with a smiling face behind the counter. A variety of delectable Mexican dishes and drinks were available at great prices. Everything we ordered was delicious and our plates were clean by the time we finished. This place is absolutely great!! Just stopped in on a whim while at the riverfront. A person we knew was there and she strongly recommended the food and advised how nice the lady at the counter is. Our acquaintance was right. Lee (I believe her name is) kept a smile the entire time. When we got our food it was hot and incredibly tasty. Portion sizes were larger than expected. The food was taken to go and was hot when I arrived back to work. They didn't waste anytime cranking out the food orders.
