I have been here many times so i thought it's time to give a review…read more The food is decent but you really have to know what to order here. I have had nearly everything on the menu but the only things I can say are consistently good with confidence are the chimichanga, fajita and enchiladas. The others are imo subpar to mildly acceptable. The atmosphere isn't that great with drunk people from the bar peering at everyone at the restaurant through the bartender doorway (that has no door) like they are pissed off that people are actually eating there and giving major dirty looks. The tiny 16 year old (?) latina waitress with short hair wasn't exactly friendly and didn't really do the best job. I only had her one time. The rest of the times I was there was an older lady whom was severely miserable and a guy with glasses whom was the son of the owner whom was better at being polite than the other 2 and gave better service. The place is in serious need of a re-model as well and if you are there during the warmer months, you will see many fruit flies and experience a musty smell which they never address. This place has alot of space and so much potential but these people obviously dont feel the need to improve . They are in cruise control mode. Best part is the entree's are very reasonably priced.

We ordered food and drinks etc. one of our dogs did quietly whine and the same woman came over and sternly said we had to leave if she kept whining. There were less than 15 people there, it wasn't loud, and it seemed super over the top to ask us to leave for that. I'm sad because i love this place and i brought my friends to share in it and it ended in a sour ending! The man bartender however, was super nice and made a great spicy margarita!

Love places that offer a flight and the cashier was super helpful with providing recommendations based on m preferences Now the food.....HOLY MOLY! I had the following: - habanero pork taco - cod taco - fried pickles - cauliflower wings (mild and Korean bbq) Every single thing listed was probably some of the most incredible food I've ever had. I was genuinely surprised this random brewing in the side of a mountain really nailed the beauty of Asian flavoring. I'd highly recommend. It was great for our large party of 9 and being able to order at the bar was easy. Staff was very swift too.

Full disclosure, the food's not bad and the guy making it was very friendly. That said, these are tacos so white I'm surprised they don't come slathered in mayonnaise. No Al Pastor. No Barria. No Barbacoa. Legit chorizo comes in a tube that costs like a dollar. Where's that? I ordered a BBQ Pulled Pork Taco thinking it might be Ty's answer to Carnitas, but it was just pulled pork on a tortilla. It was fine, but it wasn't a taco. It was decent pulled pork BBQ on a tortilla. No flavorfully Mexican take on pulled pork BBQ. I can't imagine what's in the Street Corn or Classic Beef, the only tacos masquerading as authentic Mexican food. Greek chicken or falafel? Are you kidding me? Why bother? A Greek chicken taco is called a Souvlaki, and a falafel is, well, a Falafel. Star Mix is right up the street, and if you're looking for a souvlaki or falafel, it's pretty great, and a lot cheaper. And that's my real beef with Ty's. Mediocre white-people-tacos are a common scourge of any college town, but $17 for three tacos? $6 to $6.50 for one? Who's buying these tacos with the regularity to keep this stand in business? Authentic Mexican restaurants around the country - sit-down restaurants with far more overhead - manage to offer guests free chips and salsa. Ty's charges $3 for salsa, and another $5 for the chips. That's like charging $3 for the cigarette and $5 for the light. And as those countless, authentic restaurants have proven, Ty's doesn't need it.

Had the cheese nachos this time as well as our faves from past visits. House-made flour tortilla chips blanketed in Mexican cheeses, black beans, guacamole, pickled jalapenos, tomatoes, lettuce and generous lashings of crema. Yes, the tomatoes were those pale imitation things and the lettuce is shredded iceberg, but it all worked, especially with the trio of house salsas. Was baby shark coming from a phone at the next booth over? Yes, but somehow it didn't matter, the food was so comforting. They bake Mexican pastries there too, and it seems like they've added pizza.

Most visits we've done take out, but recently we dined in and the dishes and had a great experience too. The front of house and back of house service hustles hard here. The steak dishes have always been a stand out. The tortas are wonderful. Try anything with the handmade tortillas. They're out of this world. Aguas Frescas are delicious and not overly sugary or powdery. And most recently, we had a seafood soup special that was divine. And while you dine or wait for take out, admire the wonderful artisan designs on the furniture!
