This is a nice little corner spot on downtown Broadway. I've been going here since Covid, and I've always found it worth the stop. Just know that nothing moves quickly here, so don't come in a hurry. Tried this taco bar for the first time last weekend! We liked the option for outdoor seating which was very casual and no wait on a weekend. The horchata tasted unique and different that others I've tried before, and reminded me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk (in the best way!). I had the elote off cob as an appetizer which I really didn't love due to lack of flavor. My shrimp quesadilla was out of this world though- insane flavor though super saucy and hard to eat logistically! My partner ordered a bunch of shrimp and fish tacos and he really liked the Cajun tilapia taco the best and found the cod taco a bit flavorless as well. I liked their house hot sauce as a little added bonus kick. We rounded things out with a churro dessert which was delicious. Very pricey in my opinion for the portion sizes. read more

Husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch. It's cute inside and the service was quick because we were pretty much the only ones there. He wasn't hungry so I got 3 tacos (including rice and beans) and we split chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh but pretty bland. No heat to it at all. My husband liked it but I'd prefer more flavor. The tacos (I got mushroom, Al pastor, and steak) were all good. I really liked the mushroom actually and wish more places would do mushroom tacos! This was my second trip to The Tortilla Taco Bar and, Boy was it not good. My Wife and I went here about a year and a half ago. I wasn't pleased with it then because they overcharged me for drinks and never gave me a refund. But we were back in Kingston with Family over the weekend and figured we'd give it another try. We were greeted immediately upon arrival by a very nice server and she took us to our table inside. There were five of us in the party and she sat us at a table for four. As I stood there waiting for her to grab another chair, she proceeded to ask us what we wanted to drink. Awkwardly, my Wife went to grab another chair and our server realized that she'd gotten ahead of herself. This was my first Red Flag. Once we all sat down, we told her we all wanted water. She asked us if we wanted Chips, Salsa and Guacamole to start. Before we even had the chance to look at the menu, my Sister immediately said "Yes". Little did we know that the incredibly small bowls of bland salsa and so-so guacamole would be served with overcooked chips and cost us $16. Our server finally brought us one small bottle of water for the 5 of us that was guzzled down immediately. She dropped off 5 sets of silverware along with our chips and guacamole, but no share plates or extra napkins. When we asked for them she quipped "Oh, like Family Style." We didn't see the plates, napkins or another bottle of water until I basically had to get up and remind her myself. There were no paper towels in the bathroom, which I had to go tell them. I could understand this if they were busy. But at this point, there were 2 Servers and a Bus Boy. And only 3 other tables aside from ours. About 15 people total. I think this is another restaurant that didn't get any salt on their last delivery because the food was bland, bland, bland. I ordered the Birria Quesatacos and it was $20 for 3. The least they could do was put some seasoning in the meat. No Kid's Menu here. My Son loves shrimp and said he could have a plain Shrimp Taco. So they charged us $7 for a tortilla with four tiny shrimp that my kid ate in about 3 bites. Don't get me wrong, our Server was very sweet. But, in my book, that will never compensate for being clueless. I won't be going back to this place. And if you've never been, don't waste your time or money. read more

I ordered the vampiro with steak and my girlfriend got their mango fish taco, both of them were delicious and I could of ordered another 2 but I was stuffed after one. Wanted to love this place because they have vegan cheese and in all honesty the food was very good. However, I will NOT be returning, which is a shame considering we live locally. CONS: NOT kid friendly. I went with my toddler and asked if there was a kid menu and the waitress said no. I further asked what are kid options and she said rice and beans or a cheese quesadilla. We ordered the quesadilla and before doing so asked if it was kid sized or adult sized and she said this is kid sized. While waiting we asked for the WiFi and they said they don't have it. We hoped for complimentary chips and salsa like the majority of Mexican restaurants provide and they don't. When we got the check we were charged full price for the quesadilla and when asked about it being kid sized she said yeah it's kid sized bc adults never order just cheese quesadillas and so to me it's kids size and therefore full priced. I can't believe we paid 10.95 for cheese melted on a wrap. It def didn't come with rice and beans. The worst part is that we then were charged .50 cents for a take out box for the quesadilla. Folks I feel ROBBED. Never in my life have I been charged for this. I wanted to take it out of the tip but I felt bad so still gave 18%. Again, the food was very good, it's just evident the owners don't factor kids in the customer experience. Forget about even having paper and crayons for kids.
