On this particular night my family and I had drinks at the bar as well as appetizers. I ordered a Midori Sour and it was the worst I have ever had. It tasted like watered down NyQuil. I asked for a Black Russian after and it wasn't that great either but it was better than the Midori Sour. I don't know if the bartender was trained in making drinks. I think she needs to and soon. This place has quickly become our best go to spot for great food and service! Both are extremely consistent. Everything is good.... the bread, salad, steaks, potatoes and even carrot cake! I highly recommend the dinner for two. Honestly, three people could easily eat the dinner for two... it's that much food for a great price. First time in Selma, first time at Cattlemens. After a night at the movies we were looking for some place good to eat. We stopped by Cattlemens for a steak dinner. We ordered the filet mignon which was cooked to order. Our waiter Nicholas was very friendly and professional despite having to deal with some nightmare customers right before us. Famous Cattlemens of Selma. I wanted to give 3 and a half stars but didn't know how lol. My first time at the famous Cattlemens leaves me scratching my head. Not because my head itches but because I'm not entirely sure if I'd go back again. We walked in at opening time 4:00pm and were asked if we had reservations. We didn't, and got sat about 10 mins later(good sign). The hostess was very friendly, as was our waitress. The atmosphere is neat; old roadhouse feel with authentic country music playing through the speakers left me feeling like I was in a movie. Although the feel is Roadhouse, it is also most definitely fine dining without the noses in the air. Endless bread was nice and food came out fairly quick. So the wife had the special- 8oz. Sirloin, salad,and baked potato for 12.99. You can't beat that. She loved it. The little one got the kids sirloin and carrots, and I got the 14oz. Ribeye and mashed potatoes. Now me and my daughter ordered medium WELL and my daughters was so rare we sent it back. My ribeye was also more medium rare than anything but I sucked it up as I hate to over complain. Other reviews for this place seem to have had a similar experience. For a steakhouse with the reputation this one has, I would've expected them to be more on the mark. Flavor for both meats was decent but The mashed potatoes were excellent and the fried onions on the steak was a nice touch. We got out for $66.90 for the three of us which all in all seemed about right. So will I return? Possibly. The good things about this place might bring me back to see if it was an off night or they need a new grill man. read more

Went here to celebrate my promotion and it sure did deliver. I always heard good things about Cattlemen's but never had the opportunity to eat here, it was great. They have a great deal 2 for $65 dollars. An app 2 entrees and 2 desserts it was a lot of food and it was all good. Their salad and bread even better!! You def got to try their double fried baked potato it was great!! Great food for a decent value. Every entree comes with unlimited sourdough bread(the most delicious bread ever!), salad and baked beans and your choice of 1 side. The service is excellent and staff is very friendly. We have never had to wait to get a table, we are always in on a week night. I always get the pesto ravioli and it is delicious. My husband gets the 6oz filet and it comes out just as he ordered it. We are never disappointed with our meal when we stop in. Took my mother in law here for for birthday after she had mentioned that she had always seen it and never been. She and my wife ordered the prime rib after looking at the reviews online (ordered medium rare) and when they got it it was clearly overdone. They tried to eat it but it was no pleasant, it tasted as if someone dropped newspaper in a beef broth, not even steak sauce was saving the bad boy. So why am I giving a 4 star review you ask? My father in law and I both got the boneless rib eyes medium rare and they were cooked perfectly. We told our server Brandon about the over cooked meat and asked if we could change the order. He not only took care of us but was super polite and friendly and promptly got our replacement steaks for us. If they weren't so accommodating I don't know that we would've come back. I'm giving it 2 instead of 1 only because my husbands meal always turns out fine. Mine on the other hand is always wrong. Our last time going was the last chance. They burnt my steak on one side, tried to cover it by serving it on the other. It was so burnt it tasted as if the grill burnt in a camp fire. I sent it back. They sent out a second one (after everyone in my party was finished eating) and it was burned as well. I ordered both medium rare. I sent it back again but refused to accept a new one. Need to hire better hostesses who can do do their job properly. Estimation on wait times is HORRIBLE!!!!! Was told we would have an hour wait. Have been waiting 45 min past that. I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars but I have rated it 4 because of the 45 minute wait for our table. I made reservations for 6:30 we arrived 6:15 we weren't seated until 7:15 ish. Our waiter was very friendly and was very knowledgeable of the menu and he had great recommendations. Our food was great I had prime rib and my hubby had the rack of ribs. We did get full with the salad and bread we were served before it was so good. Our drinks never ran out even at how busy it was the waiter was very attentive to our needs. I've never been disappointed with the food. However, the multiple times I've been there, we've had to wait quite a while to get seated. Then you wait to put in your drink order and wait another long while to place your order. You do have bread brought to your table to hold you over. The last time I went was a party of 10.. yes, a large group; but the time spent at the table where we were actually seated, ordered, ate, and paid was over 2 hours! And this has happened more than once with an even smaller group of people. read more

From the other reviews, it looks like this place is really hit or miss. I grew up in the Central Valley, but now live in Southern California, and I went here for the first time last night. First off, the food was delicious, but I've had better for more affordable down south. The steak was tender and mine was cooked perfectly, although 2/5 of us got meat that was undercooked per what they ordered. We had reservations for 5 (at 5 pm, so just before typical dinner time) but were still seated at a booth meant for 4 (right next to a huge, loud, rowdy party too, unfortunately), and when we were seated there were only salad and bread plates for 4. We also had no silverware, and had to wait for about 10 minutes after our salad and bread were brought out for our waitress to bring us silverware. When our food came out, one meal was missing fries, and again it took a good 10 minutes for them to be brought out. I don't know what's typical, but we also only got one little bowl of beans for 5 adults. We were celebrating two birthdays, and told the person when we made our reservation. We also told the person who seated us when they asked. Nothing ever came of it. I'm not sure what this place does for birthdays, but it should've happened last night and didn't. The manager happened to ask how our evening was when we paid, and we told him all of this, and... he gave us his business card? Why, exactly? So we can call him to tell him all of this again with no attempt at making it right? Okay. All in all, I'm not exactly itching to ever go back. I can get food that's equally good or better at a place with better prices and much better service/management. read more
