Our waitress was incredibly sweet, helpful, and attentive throughout our entire visit. She helped us decide between dishes and made sure we had everything we needed. I had been recommended this restaurant over and over again, and I finally decided to stop by. One piece of advice for anyone who doesn't like much pink in their steak: be sure to specify exactly how you want it cooked. I ordered mine medium well, but it came out closer to medium with quite a bit of pink. My sister-in-law ordered hers medium, and it was served more like medium rare. It is advertised as a happy hour however it doesn't apply if your eating and spending money in the dining room area...I suppose? Happy hour prices seem to be only valid in the bar area I guess. That was a little annoying bc theres a 6$ price difference between the happy hr margarita and the 13$ one served in the dining room. So- I ordered the jalapeno margarita and my husband ordered a Moscow Mule. My margarita was gross. I did not enjoy it but I finished it bc it was 13$. I did not taste any tequila only jalapeno juice. My husbands MM was weak also , he said he couldn't taste any vodka in it at all. We ordered the meal for 2, I think it 85$ and a great deal. It comes w/ a nice selection of apps, 2 entrees and a dessert to share. We picked the tumbleweed onions for an appetizer and were pretty disappointed-they were oily, semi warm and difficult to eat. We tasted our friends artichoke dip and chips and were also disappointed with that. The chips were stale. For my entree I ordered the NY strip and it was delicious. The salad, bread, beans and loaded potato, were all very good. The ranch tasted home made. My husband got the steak and shrimp scampi and really liked it. The shrimp were big and the garlic sauce was good. His steak was also delicious. We got the brownie sundae to share for dessert and it didnt seem like very much brownie but was overall good. had 1 absolutely great prime rib dinner here about 3 months ago Tuesday night. returned about 1.5 months ago and meat prime rib not as good. returned 2 weeks ago. i had $40+ ribeye dinner and friend $40+ prime rib dinner. Friends prime rib was completely uncuttable. There was so much gristle and it was not cooked properly that she had to say something. The server was very prompt in taking it away and coming back within literally minutes with an entirely new piece of prime rib an entire new baked potato everything. That piece was better, although still a little on the tough side but much better. My steak, having been a ribeye, did not meet my expectations. I asked for medium rare and well. The cook on it was perfect. The meat itself was very tough and difficult to chew which is not expected in a ribeye. I kind of agree with some of the comments in some of these where my first experience was, the salad was super cold super crispy super fresh. Everything in that first experience three months ago was great. Then it kind of went downhill the second and by the time I went back the third time the salad was warm not enough of a mix in it. It just really had changed. Not sure why. I will try once again, but since driving from Fresno to go to Selma, it's a long way and not sure. I'm truly disappointed with how much this place has gone downhill. Cattlemen's has always been a favorite destination for me and my friends. We regularly drive from Fresno, usually in groups of five or more, because we knew we could count on a great meal and an enjoyable experience. I'm not sure what's changed over the last 12 to 18 months, but my last three visits have all been disappointing. The menu seems to have fewer options than it used to, and the food quality has noticeably declined. On my most recent visit, I ordered my steak medium, but it was cooked so thoroughly that it had the texture of shoe leather. Where shall I start. Me and my wife and my granddaughter made reservations for Saturday night at 6:30. We waited until 640 to be seated, which wasn't too bad. After we were seated that's when it happened. I believe the waitress forgot about us and was more concerned about the table next to us. We asked for some drinks and bread while we were waiting. It was cold and at this time we were just over it we asked for boxes the waitress said is there anything wrong. I replied where should I start? We have almost waited an hour for this food and apparently it sat back for so long. It got cold so the service was really really bad. We decided to give kettle as a second chance being that we receive poor service the last time we were there. We were seated in a booth and were greeted by our server who was so nice and friendly. He brought out fresh hot sourdough bread with cold butter that was ready to melt right in! He also brought out a big ol' salad for us to share with each of us getting a lil' gravy boat of a salad dressing of our choosing. When our entrees came out, a cute bucket o' ranch beans came with them. I love all the shareable family style elements to the meal. The hubs and I shared the Porterhouse with a baked potato with all the toppings. It was cooked medium rare so it was perfectly tender and juicy. I had the grilled salmon with a side salad, artichoke dip, and some cheesecake but we got the dinner for two so the hubz got 14 oz Ribeye Steak, a baked potato and oh yeah I had some mashed potatoes! After years of driving by this place of the 99, i finally got to try this place and IM PISSED AT MY SELF FOR NOT COMING ANY SOONER. I went with a 10 Oz filet mignon and hands down its one of THE BEST steaks I've had in awhile. In my opinion, this steak out beats steaks from STK, Mastros, Flemmings, and Morton's.
