    Grilled shrimp

The serving size is so subpar compared to the price. The rice that came with the grilled shrimp was cooked like soggy. There was like 8 pieces of zucchini in the side. The flavor of the shrimp was good. The servers need more training. They brought out the chicken fried steak covered in gravy when my dad asked for it to be on the side and the girl wouldn't take it back and didn't tell our server. The shrimp dip that they had was so watery like soup and had a gritty texture. There wasn't really any shrimps in it, also it was just drenched in oil. For the price of this place it's not worth it. They need to better train their staff and increase their serving size.

On a work trip I was put up at a hotel with this place literally a stone's throw away right next door. If you show the server your hotel key card, you get 10% off your food (not your alcohol). After a few cold ones, I ordered a ribeye medium rare, broccoli, and some mashed potatoes. All of it was pretty good. My steak was cooked to temperature but was really fatty, even by ribeye standards. I like edible ribeye fat, but this one had too much grisly inedible fat. Still, the parts that I could eat were good and my server/bartender was friendly and attentive. The sides were fine as well, especially the broccoli, which is easy for a lot of restaurants to screw up. As I was walking back to a hotel 47 yards away from the front door of the restaurant, I had more draft beers than I normally would and they were cold and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively inexpensive the beer was, even the ones I had after happy hour. They do close too early for my tastes (7:45) but it's in a pretty rural area so I get it. While it's not a place I would go too far out of my way to eat at, it's totally worth a visit in you're in that area.

Half pound Angus, beef, burger, cooked, medium rare. Thick and juicy.

Hands-down, one of the best, fresh burgers I've had in a while. Half pound Angus beef, cooked to the temperature ordered. Fries were good. Salads were good. Service was good. They also have locally sourced bison burger on the menu as well. We did not order steaks, but watched as several were served at other tables. They looked every bit as good as our burgers.

Food was amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection. Service was excellent. Helpful with drink suggestions and the bourbon glaze on the steak. Ambiance was cowboy swagger. Excellent drink specials on weekday afternoon.

    Fly bread

We stopped for lunch apx. 12:30, there were 5 cars in parking lot We ordered 1 burger & 1 open face roast beef with 2 side salads, rolls came with it. The burger was one of those compressed frozen nothing burgers. The roast beef had a strange taste, maybe sage or oregano? We ate about 1/2 of our meal then pushed it aside as the FLY landed in our bread. So disappointed,.

Had a t-bone steak dinner and it was the skinniest cut of meat i every saw. It was like something you get at a diner or truck stop. Very sad

Service was amazing! Staff was amazing. Food was very good but the smoked prime rib on Friday nights was overrated and overpriced.

The Grill at Whispering Woods was one of those unexpected dining experiences that you keep talking…read moreabout afterward. We ate here while visiting the Norfork area, and the food was exceptional from beginning to end. We started a bar order with two of their signature cocktails: the Grand Old Fashioned (The General) and the Jennings Cove Whiskey Sour. Both were excellent, and the Old Fashioned in particular was a terrific way to start the meal. Then came a series of appetizers that made it difficult not to over-order. Our server, Jennifer, recommended the Bacon Wrapped Dates, stuffed with goat cheese and finished with balsamic glaze; listed as a house favorite for good reason. We also split the Signature Wedge Salad with their housemade blue cheese dressing and had a cup of their classic French Onion Soup. The wedge was cold, crisp and loaded with bacon, tomato and blue cheese, while the French onion was rich and exactly what you want French onion soup to be. Freshly toasted house-made croutons sealed the deal. For dinner, we shared the Pan-Seared Sea Bass, served with a citrus-olive-caper sauce. It was absolutely superb--beautifully prepared, succulent and one of the better pieces of fish we've had in quite a while. By that point, Whispering Woods had firmly moved from "good local restaurant" into destination restaurant territory for us. Having traveled all over the US and experienced some of the nicest restaurants and haute cuisines, Whispering Woods ranks pretty high being tucked away in the hills surrounding Norfork Lake. Chef Zach's attention to detail with his Denver-originating culinary influence makes this restaurant very unique for North Central Arkansas. Apparently lunch is no slouch either. Before the dinner menu started, I watched a couple at the table across from us receive the Chicken BLT Sandwich. The thing was towering--grilled chicken, bacon, provolone, lettuce, tomato and avocado on what looked like a serious sandwich. I actually made a mental note that we need to come back for lunch just to try it. What impressed me most is that Whispering Woods feels like the kind of place you hope to discover in the Ozarks: independent, full of history and character, but with a kitchen that is clearly taking the food seriously. This isn't simply a convenient restaurant near Norfork Lake. It's a place worth making the trip for. The restaurant's front wall filled with local awards reminds you they deliver on their promises. We'll absolutely be back. Five stars without hesitation.
