In town for a special event and was looking for a non-chain place to eat. Stumbled across this place, and for the most part, wasn't disappointed. The building has a long and colorful past, having been a church, an opera house, a bar, etc. We started with fried pickles. The wedges were decently sized and served with a ranch type dressing. Pickles were crisp and tasty, the ranch was decent (but not great). I had the grilled salmon (often a risky proposition), but I'm this case it worked out. It was a good sized piece that was well grilled, done but still flaky, firm but still moist. It doesn't come with anything so I added a side salad. My companion opted for the Hot Chicken sandwich. Looked to be about a 4oz breast dipped in hot honey sauce on a good quality bun, with cole slaw on top. Not the best sandwich ever, but pretty good. We decided to split a bourbon bread pudding (with added ice cream) for dessert. It was excellent! Only downside was that it was a little crisp around the edges. We probably won't be back in West Plains again, but if we are, I wouldn't mind coming back here again. read more

Apps, dinner and cocktails - excellent decision to drive 40 minutes to try Dev's. Would love to see a seasonal cocktail menu!!!

My husband and I came here last night, to try something different in the area. It wasn't a super busy night but it wasn't too slow either. Our server was really friendly and on top of it, but I didn't catch her name (oops). We got the fried pickles as an appetizer which were really good, and I got the taco sampler with queso and my husband got a steak . The food did take awhile to come out, but the food was really good so it was worth the wait. While it is a little expensive, we definitely left feeling validated with the prices because the food was great. We'd definitely come back here again! read more

Food was pretty good; atmosphere wasn't the best, as the staff had their kids running around. Cool building but needs decor & ambiance.

Ambiance is weird. It's just an open room with not a lot of seating. So it looks odd. They also have employee stuff posted right on the bar. Not very professional. This is west plains attempt at "fine dining". But the problem is with the actual food and vibe. Can't charge 40+ dollars for a steak in a sports bar. It's not like it's dry aged 28 days and the finest cuts. No waygu option or Kobe beef options. Just regular steak. Shrimps weren't cleaned properly and still had the poop inside. I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants around the planet. Some have cost more than most residents of west plains make in a month. This whole area just doesn't get it. All the best chefs have trained in Europe for extensive amounts of time. These people definitely have not done that. The whole area lacks culture and diversity. Everywhere sells beef, or fried food, and nothing else for the most part. Fine steak restaurants should have black Chilean sea bass, oysters, scallops. Nothing is different about this restaurant. It's like a nice TGI Fridays. But that's on par for this area. Just all white people that can't let go of the past, nothing is moving forward socially or economically out here. Sucks for them. Little tip for the restaurant, change your menu every season. Or at least 3 times a year. Stay current and fresh with new dishes and flavors. Don't just cook beef and fry bad food. Do some deconstructed soups, cook everything in house. Use fresh ingredients purchased and arriving at the restaurant daily if not ever few days. read more

Had lunch there. However, I had accidentally let a roll of quarters on the table. When I went back to get them not 6 minutes later, the waitress said they weren't there. One of the most unintentive experiences i have ever had at a dining establishment. The ambiance is extremely weird. Its an empty room with a bar and few seating options. The food was either burnt or unseasoned and the seasoning they did add cost another dollar for very small amounts of seasoning. The service was the worst i have ever experienced. The waitress was very very unintentive. She spent most of the time at the bar talking to other employees and when i did communicate with her, and told her that i wasnt satisfied, she said "ok...." and walked back off to the bar...$70 for possibly the worst experience ever. Worked at this joke of an operation for 4 awful days in January, and WAS NEVER PAID. Devon Davis claimed she would mail a check for my owed wages, but clearly never did. I have made several attempts to follow up, and have been ignored each time. Hearing now that this exact thing has happened to others! Shameful. This is by far the best restaurant for miles around! high-quality steaks, a full bar, and absolutely stunning ambience. They even serve smoked Manhattans! Located in the West plains opera house, a beautiful historic building built in 1893. Still has original brick walls and wood floors. read more

Would give less if possible. Worst service and lack of follow up I've ever gotten. Ignored reservation, treated like I was an irrational female, took a completely different business owner complaining before manager ever talked to me. Then her solution was unhelpful. I will NEVER go here again and I tell everyone I know of the awful experience. read more

Excellent food and an amazing atmosphere. They are located next to my business on the Square in beautiful Downtown West Plains and every day when they cook our whole office talks about how wonderful it smells. Having the pleasure of eating there multiple times I can say they are awesome! read more
