I can't say enough about June Kim at Catts & Doggs Pet Boutique in Downey. If you own cats you understand, grooming is not always an option. Bathing my cats was impossible. I was nervous taking them to a groomers, but one day I decided to try this place. All 3 ladies are amazing, professional, kind, patient, zero stress! They work together as a true team in sync with each other. My cats got a 4th of July treat today with flea baths, tummy shaved for knots, nails trimmed, ears cleaned. I took both of my fur babies in for a last-minute appointment, and they were ready in just an hour. Their coats were shiny, they smelled amazing, and the groomers did a fantastic job. My male dog is usually very anxious, but they handled him really well--even managing to trim his nails and complete the full grooming. This place used to be good. Last visit they cut up my dog. She was bleeding in at least four different spots. A deep gash on her neck. Lots of blood. Big scar, blood still coming out of it days later. Blood from nail being trimmed too deep as well. My dog is traumatized still and much different than who she was before taking her to get groomed. They didn't even tell me that there was an accident. Just handed my dog off like it was normal business practice. read more

My first time taking my maltipoo here. The owner is very nice and welcoming. I can tell they do care for the pets. Price is decent. The place is in a small plaza. Sept 13th 2018: I took my shihztu (female) in for grooming with June. I was holding Sashi (my shihztu)as I was getting ready to pay, when I noticed blood smeared all over my right arm. I immediately examined Sashi & realized hair nails were bleeding profusely. I honestly thought I would have to take her in to see her vet so they can get the bleeding to stop. I was furious! June took her from my arms & ran back and applied something and eventually got the bleeding to stop. I still paid for the horrible service & at no point did June apologize. Nov 14th 2018: This time I took my Male shihztu in for grooming & warned them that after the past horrible experience with my female shihztu, I was planning on sitting there & waiting for him to get groomed in hopes that they would be more careful. Half way thru his haircut I hear him yelping and whimpering in pain! As you can imagine, June cut him so badly that the top layer of his skin was removed. And yet again, I was expected to pay for her service. I will NEVER be returning there again nor will I put my pets thru that agony. I urge everyone to PLEASE stay there & wait for your pet while they get groomed so you can see what goes on. You will witness the groomers screaming, tugging and pulling on our pets. My regular grooming place for my 13-year-old canine screwed up my reservation. I was so pissed because I fit it into my already hectic schedule with in-laws coming into town... To the rescue (at around 9:50 a.m. 7/6/16) was this cute, mostly clean grooming salon in an unassuming strip mall on Florence Ave. I remember when it first opened. I checked it out then, but never took either of my (then) dogs because I don't believe in fixing something that isn't broken. Then "it" broke. June was a really sweet lady. We talked about how she would cut my dog's hair, but I was a little hesitant. I went ahead with a "winter cut" which is still a helluva lot shorter than I anticipated, but it's summer and her hair grows fast. My dog always lets me know if she wasn't happy... Or WAS in this case! She even let them trim her nails. This RARELY happens. I had two concerns: 1) they give your dog's collar/leash back to you as soon as they take them back. My dog doesn't have a chip. 2) When I went to pick her up, she was running loose with a few other dogs in the large area in front where the dogs get their hair cut. At any rate, they all seemed to get along & didn't have any fleas or ticks or... anything else. Miss June called as soon as they were done. I was able to pick my furbaby up right at noon. She smelled so fresh & clean. No residues. Plastic or cash accepted. Parking lot is usually crowded. How is this placed allowed to stay in business? Took my husky in for a basic wash and deshedding. I was initially satisfied with the service. My dog wasn't showing any trauma. He didn't look like he was drugged. He looked excited and full of energy. But I did notice a gash on his right leg when I got home. I chose this business at a glance and decided to try them out. Apparently this is a common issue. From the look of other experiences I got lucky it was only a gash. Will be reporting this incident to the better business bureau for animal abuse. In fact we have pictures of her since she turned 1 year old and she did not show any cuts until after her visit. The owner was friendly and she seemed to be training another worker so it is unclear if it was the owner or her new employee who did the cuts, but either way needless to say we are very unhappy with the turnout. I know ALL our dogs are perfect.... except they aren't. What my dog has in cuteness he also has in behavior problems.... A LOT. Luckily I trust these ladies. They are always nice. Been coming for years. My dog acts like he is getting murdered here. All June kept doing was hugging him and giving him love yet he still was acting up. I had never stayed and helped and boy was it work. Over 1 hour and 15 minutes later he was finished. ZERO CUTS or bruises. I'm a teacher and this requires much more patience. In need of an emergency grooming, I decided to try this place out. It had 4 1/2 stars so I had no fear of leaving my dog there. I picked him up and it was absolutely ridiculous, there's bald patches in some places, not even at all. He looks ridiculous. What I'm really worried about is right after I picked him up he didn't want to walk, he just kept sitting and biting his tail and back area with such discomfort. I thought nothing of it but a day later he still doesn't want to walk, he keeps sitting on his back side everywhere....and I need to physically pick him up and carry him. I have no idea what they did to him but he had never done this before and he's very very used to walks with no problem. This behavior is new and it's right after I picked him up. Came here for the first time this morning. Saw their business on Yelp and decided to give them a shot. As most groomers it's hard to get a walk up if you don't already have an appointment. I just called them up and asked for availability and she said come in now, so I did. Good thing they are just minutes from the house. I've tried most groomers in the area but this is the first time here for us. From their sign on the window (Grand Opening Special, 1/2 off 1st visit) it looks they just recently opened. We have 2 dogs but only brought our small terrier mix today. They did a good job with her cut I was happy with it. Did just what had we asked for. The place is clean, service was fine, and their prices are on par with the rest of the places around so if needed we won't hesitate to bring our dogs here next time. So I made my appointment via text with June. This was my first time taking my fur baby to a local groomer. Seems like the pandemic has made this business desperate, sloppy, and careless for animals. The grooming was literally 40 minutes long after she quoted me 2 hours. She overbooked her day and did a rush job on all the pets. She butchered my dog (pretty much shaved his entire body), she cut him in his belly, and wanted to overcharge me when I picked him up. His cut was also uneven and she made my male dog look like a female. My poor labradoodle was traumatized when I brought him home. I've had to apply Sulfodene to help with his huge scrapes on his belly. I will never subject my dog to this punishment again. Beware. read more

I usually take 2 of my dogs here and I don't have any issues until today. My husband took in only one of our dogs and they cut her eye pretty bad plus the hair cut was the worst with patches and several uneven areas. On top of all that they charged him $50 and she is a little silky terrier. My daughter and I have never been charged $50 so either the prices went up or they feel it's better to cut your dog and charge extra for that. Very disappointed! read more
