The staff here really went above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic and were running back and fourth helping each and every customer out with their fishing needs! I considering buying a new setup for my own today...one of the associates fixed my reel twice at no charge (granted it took him under 5 minutes each time) which they didn't have to do. Have spent a lot of money here this summer. Was sold a reel/rod combo and I was put under the impression that I was getting a steal. For a lack of better words it was like having a wet noodle in my hands. Wish when it was sold to me that this was explained. Im new to fishing. But in the long run Causeway B & T made it right, took it back and I was able to get a new Penn battle III combo which the sales employee thoroughly went over the stiffness of the rod and etc. Love the combo! Great setup!!! Staff is always quick and helpful and Im never waiting long which is a plus. They also have a ton of stuff. If you have ADD you might need your ritalin before you go in lol. Any how I've only left the store once with being frustrated. But that was made right. So therefore I highly recommend this place for all your seafood needs. Fresh bunker is delicious . I recently purchased a reel from j$h tackle(gift) I always buy from causeway. It was defective right out of the box and the asshole wouldn't give me a new one he said I had to send it back to tsunami. After two months they finally sent me a new one. Also defective. I went to causeway and they had two others to go back. Must have been a bad batch of reels. Even though I didn't buy it from them they took the reel and are trying to help me. The guys are fantastic with everything I've ever done there. read more

As a kid back in the 60's, my friends and I fished the bulkhead of Wantagh Park for snappers, flounder and whatever we could catch. Causeway B & T was my go to bait shop as it was located at the entrance of the park. I remember the owners name was Frank (Hecker?) back then. Always friendly to us. I continued to go there for decades, well into my adulthood. Wish I had a buck for every time I went to Causeway B & T. I now reside in another state and havent been back to Causeway since maybe 2015 or 2016. Place hadnt change much. Nice to know the place is still going strong. They must be doing something right. THE worst businessmen. Never take in new reels to be fixed- stopped by in the summer to get some reels fixed and they said they weren't taking more reels to be fixed until October. October is here...still being shady, not taking reels to be fixed unless they're "really broken" because they "have other things to do"-- said to just keep fishing with it. Heres what happened, Date Sunday 30 June. Time 1300/1pm approximately. A heavy set man in late 20s to 30s w/ an attitude sees me approach w/ my girlfriend. I first ask for a bucket of clams, and he replies the white one? I said yeah yeah, as I was looking for my money and tired from working til midnight and then back up at 6am. Next he brings the white one out, i said sorry man I meant the clear one, The peanjut gallery says thats the quart one 2-3 men. but they wern't done he places the bucket 10 feet away back from where the bait is and slams it down like a kid. Next I ask for two bunker, these bunker were priced well and freh but are as small as a summer snapper. Finally I ask for bells, he looks down and says theres none, go look on the wall. I don't believe the store was out of bells, I feel they were to lazy to look for them or re stock. Lastly I asked for tide schedules of north shore, they gave me south shore which was good that had great info, I understand they are on south shore, but they said look online. I was dissapointed I went back home to grab my sunday newsday from Wantagh to East Meadow enroute to Cold Spring Harbor to fish. Next time I will go to the bait store one block down in wantagh the one on the tappen side of port washington "duffys" or the one in oyster bay. I asked my gf if it was me and she said no it was them and don't go there anymore. Sorry but Im a customer and going to fish I doln't know quarts, buckets, tides, if bells are out but I do where my wallet was and I had 140.00 cash to spend total purchase 14.50 Clam was great everything else was horrible never again read more

Get your repair bill estimates in writing. Quoted $12 for a simple reel repair. Charged me over $32 when I went to pick it up. Such a shame because I had been buying bait and tackle from here every weekend before heading to Sore Thumb. Time to move on to another shop. Beware if you are using them for repairs. read more
