I'm not able to go as much as I'd like, but a visit here at Christmastime is always quite enjoyable! This mall still has a decent occupancy rate, an acceptable food court, several sit-down dining options, a nice movie theater, and even an ice skating rink. The attached Whole Foods is also a plus, IF you can afford shopping there! (I always look online at their weekly sales items before I visit). Since so many of our former indoor malls have been converted to outdoor "strip malls," I'm very glad Countryside has so far survived the preference for online shopping and still exists!

We went last night and parked by JCPenneys we walked down to the opposite end of the Mall and sat before we walked back.. We reached Penney's to find it locked up at 8:00. Everything on line says they are open till 9:00. It was difficult for my husband to walk and we had a good distance to walk outside the mall to get to our car. We found an open door to Penney's and entered and were told to leave that they were closed and waiting for one customer to leave. I asked if we could go through to the other door and was told a definite no. I tried to explain my husband couldn't walk far and we were locked outside. So I'm writing this to warn anyone who is disabled that the mall closes at 8:00 now.

The GOOD: The Publix here is one of the best in our area. A former Albertsons, then a Safeway, it is very large and managed well. The Target is OK, but often jam-packed. I prefer the quieter shopping experience at the other store on Park street. The Petsmart is great and the service is always friendly. The staff at the Michael's location here are always very helpful. I find the Labcorp location to be the best and most efficient that I have ever visited. Smiley Thai is one of the best kept Thai take-out "secrets" in our area! The BAD: There is a significant amount of "bad characters" that often congregate here, especially after dark. Unfortunately, this appears to be more common when there is a major "bus hub" in the area, like the one just south of Target. There always seems to be a small group of them loitering just south of the Publix, hoping that I have spare wealth to gladly and willingly give away for unknown reasons. My apologies, but I am on a strict budget. Don't ever fall in love with a smaller store here. They come and go often. The turnover rate is quite high. I miss that "Bulk Nation" location! They used to have my favorite movie theater here, but I have not been to any since 2013. People constantly checking their cell phones every 5 minutes ruined the experience for me, forever. It's a great place to take a break during a shopping trip, grab a bite, and recharge before heading back out. Overall, Countryside Mall is a dependable and comfortable place to shop, eat, and hang out. Overall I would go back to see what is available, but I won't get my hopes up.

Pelican Walk Plaza has so much to offer, and it made my trip to Clearwater Beach even more…read moreenjoyable. I stayed at the nearby Hyatt, which made it super convenient to walk over and explore. I had a fantastic meal at Hurricane Eddie's--the steak and fries were cooked perfectly, and the drinks were top-notch. I also stopped by Kaia Bowls a couple of mornings for their açaí bowls, and they were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the day. We couldn't resist Mint Fox Cookies and Ice Cream either, and I'm glad we didn't--it was the perfect treat. The plaza also has a Stix Billiards and Arcade upstairs, which looked like a great place to hang out, along with several other retail shops to browse through. Next time I visit, I definitely want to check out the Comedy Club--it looked like a lot of fun. Overall, Pelican Walk Plaza is a lively, walkable destination with a great mix of food, fun, and shopping. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
