A lot of attention and work has taken place this Spring. The bunkers have been revitalized, the fairways widened, and the grass regularly mowed. Kudos to the maintenance team. The course has elevation changes and the terrain challenges even the consistent ball strikers. Walking the front nine is easy while the back nine will give your legs a work out. A fun layout though. Sam, the new PGA golf pro, is helpful and friendly. The food and beverage service, provided by the Long Reach Kitchen and Catering company is excellent. Their staff is also friendly and helpful, the menu is varied, and their drink menu is fun. All and all, a great local golf course. The PGA may never play at the Bath Golf Club but it is a fun place. I asked for some bleu cheese dressing but all they had were crumbles. I asked for a soda to wash it down. The water was warm. I never got the soda and proceeded to eat the meal because I paid almost $60 for it! My daughter's girl dinner was cute with a tiny salad, Alfredo, a cosmo and tomato mozarella in small martini glasses. She ate it all and was still hungry. When offered dessert at $12 we opted to stop for a huge ice cream on the way home. Am I glad I tried it? Yes. Would I ever have a need to return with Sedgley Place down the street? Absolutely not.

The Carriage Museum has 130 carriages and sleighs, of which about 75 are on display at any given time. The carriages and sleighs are gorgeous, and the signage tells all about their history or interesting technology. In addition, there was an incredibly knowledgeable and helpful docent when we were there that gave us a tour and even more details about the exhibits. They even take the sleighs out for rides in the winter on Sleigh Day. Everything is free, although donations are welcome. This is definitely a gem to be treasured.

I have personally only been the past 3 winters for snowshoeing on the trails. They are generally groomed and wide. The woods are peaceful and we have seen woodpeckers and lots of deer tracks with lovely bird sounds. You wind around the trails on snowshoes, cross country skis or even go sledding in the fields. We have had a lot of snow this year and we found the trail through the field to be covered in drifts which made it tougher on short dogs, but I really have a soft spot for this place and highly recommend checking it out. This is an excellent museum which highlights Bath's proud history of shipbuilding in Maine…read more Although the admission fee is high ($20 or $22), it helps to support the volunteers and activities of the museum. We only had 2 hours available, so we focused largely on the exhibits. The museum includes various buildings which highlight different aspect of shipbuilding from caulking, blacksmithing, and building skiffs (modern day boats used to travel on Maine's coastal waterways). We loved the exhibit on lobstering in Maine - with superb displays that showed why Maine's lobsters are prized worldwide (they have the best claw meat), and a colorful display of buoys and traps. Talking with volunteers about the art of woodcarving and building skiffs was very interesting. It was cool to see the flagpoles (representing the Wyoming schooner) and Bath Iron Works in the distance (a current shipyard for the U.S. Navy). Since we only had 2 hours available from 10am-12pm, we could not join the afternoon lighthouse cruises (which looked like fun). Overall, we enjoyed our visit to the Maine Maritime Museum! You'll learn a lot about Bath's proud history of shipbuilding and the tradition of lobstering in Maine.
