Terrible conditions that the dogs are kept in. Bizarre behavior by Val. Her husband was nice

Be very cautious. Very negative experience. Baited and switched at the pick up and given a sick animal. this breeder cannot be trusted.

Perfect health for their puppies , no issues with my dogs heart or patella. Would get another from them too.

I had two Cavalier King Charles for many years. Unfortunately my eldest Finnegan passed away recently leaving Casey his companion of 10 years behind. We were heartbroken, we still are, but Casey was lonely, she had never known a day without Finnegan. Luckily I work from home and can keep her company but it became clear that she wanted a buddy. So after about three months of searching we found Cavaliers by Val. Val clearly loves her dogs and the puppies they produce. After reading all the information her website and a long conversation with Val about an available puppy. I decided to reserved a beautiful ruby female pup. When the litter was old enough we drove across the state to their home and got to know the Ruby puppy we would name Georgiana. She was a sweet, energetic, and beautiful girl and we couldn't wait to take her home. At that meeting Val and Enrique provided a lot of valuable information which was appreciated because it had been nearly a decade since we had puppies in our home. A short time before our pick up date I noticed Val also had a black and tan male available that I just couldn't stop looking at. He was the same age as Georgiana and I contacted Val about him. She said he would be available to come home the same day we picked up Georgiana. I reserved him as well with the hopes when we met he would be a good fit too. We'll he was and it was the best decision I have made in some time. He is on the smaller side but we gave him a big dog name, Rouge. When we picked up the dogs Val gave us everything we would need including food, harnesses, and paperwork. They told us to please call them with any questions and they are true to their word because we have and they have been very helpful. As far as Casey goes it took just a couple weeks for her to warm up to the new members of her pack. She made her position know immediately. It took some time for the puppies to figure it out but now they are friends. Casey and Rouge cuddle up together on Casey's bed sometimes. It is very wonderful for us to see that she may have lost her best friend but she her heart is open to let someone new in for a cuddle. Even Georgiana who is so strong in spirit gives Casey kisses and has become closer to her these past few weeks. Thanks to both Enrique and Val. It has been a hard year but our experience was wonderful and all is going very well. I would recommend them to anyone searching for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. read more

I urge you to stay away from away from this breeder. Like so many that have posted here, I had a terrible experience. I have breed AKC labrador retrievers over the years so I am not a neophyte. My vet even has one of my puppies. In a nutshell, all went well with the puppy and our meetings. We agreed that I would adopt and Val even put the pups new name (Duke) on the website. They obtained the health certificate on a Monday and asked me if I could pick up the dog Wednesday. I couldn't so we agreed I would pick up the puppy on Friday. Wednesday afternoon around 3:30 I was advised that they had decided I would not be able to adopt. I asked them to kindly explain why and all i received was silence. I spent alot of money getting ready for Duke's new home. Thankfully, most has been returnable. I kept the boxes because I was suspecious. What a disaster. Go check out World Class Cavaliers on the East Coast. Oh, and one other thing - look closely at their guarantee. It is possible that Dysplasia is in the breed. And, this is not retribution (as they claim on their website), just a heads up. I wish them well. read more

We have the most adorable and loving new addition to our family!! Her name is Feather. It is so apparent how loved this puppy was and that she had the best start in her life. Hank and Val take the absolute best care of their pups! If you are lucky enough to get one of their puppies the love and joy you will receive is beyond words! We feel so blessed to have been given the privilege to have Feather be our family. She is sweet with just the right amount of sass. read more

This was a horrible experience. Val is rude and unreasonable. I followed everything she told me to do. Left the deposit only to find out she canceled it the next day. I am writing this review in hopes of saving the next person from the heart break we experienced. We contacted this breeder in August 2020 about adopting a Cavalier King Charles as a companion. It had been a couple of years since we lost our dog and felt ready to bring a new member into our family. On 8/13/20 we sent a $300 deposit via paypal for a litter that was due in September. Originally they had us down wanting a female. When the litter was born on September 17, 2020 I got an email that there was only one female and the female was taken. We were sorry, but that is the chance you take. Anyway a week or so later I was browsing their website and there were pictures of three puppies available, two males and a female from the September 17th litter. Josh (who we would ultimately choose) Jake and Jenna along with the parents, mother, Fantom Val's Joyous Jenna Lee and father Fantom Val's Trapper John were all pictured on the web site. I called and talked to Hank and he agreed to us being matched with Josh. All was going well and we had our first appointment to visit "Josh" on November 4, 2020 at noon. We arrived and spent about an hour visiting. We fell in love with Josh and couldn't wait to take him home. I got sick with bronchitis and we found out that we had been exposed to covid so we cancelled our next visit. On November 20, 2020 we got the email setting the date for us to pick up Josh on November 27, 2020 at noon. We posted it on our social media and were all excited. We purchased all the things Cavalier's by Val said for us to buy and waited in anticipation. On November 27, 2020 at 10:15 am (our adoption time was noon) my phone rang. When I answered the phone it was Val from Cavaliers by Val wanting to know if I had received her emails from that morning. I grabbed my tablet and started looking. Then she said she was cancelling the adoption. Josh has hip dysplasia and you can't adopt him unless he is perfect. I think I mumbled something about what would happen to him and Val said they had not decided. Then she said that she had already refunded my deposit. I think I said something about good bye and I hung up the phone. According to the American Kennel Club hip dysplasia is a hereditary condition. He must have gotten it thru one or both of his parents. I just checked Cavaliers by Val's website and the other two puppies have been adopted. Their names have been changed. Jake is now Murphy and Jenna is now Maggie May, but the pictures are the same. I can only hope that the new owners were informed that hip dysplasia is in the blood line. I can only hope that if you read this review you will heed my words of warning. In case the owners would deny that the puppy had hip dysplasia, I have the email from them. I will close by saying that our hearts have broken and I hope this does not happen to anyone else. read more

Stay away. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! Puppies smell bad, poop and pee in their pens, and parents were not socialized. They keep their dogs in crowded cages in a separate room from where they show the puppies to potential buyers. My advice is to go elsewhere. Don't be deceived by their phony smiles. Also, pay heed to their NEGATIVE reviews on Facebook. These people should be INVESTIGATED for unclean conditions!!! These are precious Cavies we're talking about. They deserve better. read more

I am a Veterinarian in Naples , Florida and by talking to clients who adopted puppies from Val I have to say her dogs are beautiful , healthy , well cared for and are growing up in a loving , responsible environment . This reflects in their endearing character . Val is very conscientious about the wellbeing and new home in regard to adopting out a puppy , which shows that she is not just out to make money , but she is in it for the love of the breed . We purchased a puppy from Val this past summer. Val and Hank are great breeders and very caring. They will not let you purchase a puppy until they meet you and approve you. We have the best cavalier who is beautiful, healthy and loving to everyone. I would not hesitate to recommend Val and Hank and if I would purchase a second cavalier it would definitely be from them. They specialize in the smaller of the breed, about sixteen pounds which really met our needs. We found Val and Hank the most caring breeders we have ever met. read more

I did not have a good experience. Val is difficult and unprofessional. She Canceled my deposit because she said she was not sure of gender. Instead of communicating with me and reaching out phone or email she just cancelled me. In short period of time we spoke she was not a pleasant at all. I wanted to purchase a puppy for a friend of mine who recently experienced a lot of loss in her life, including her dog recently passing away. She desperately needed a new companion. We were super excited to put a deposit down on a puppy with Val. We put our deposit down on 5/13/20. She was supposed to get a puppy from a litter born on 6/4/20. Val called her and told her that one of her litters died and she would have to sell the puppies in the 6/4 litter to the people who had put a deposit down on an earlier litter. This was understandable, so then my friend was promised a puppy from the next litter, which was about a week later. She was so excited waiting for the puppy to be old enough that she could take it home. Then mid July she was informed that she could not have one of those puppies and would have to wait until a little that was expected mid August. So instead of getting her puppy in July, at this point she was going to have to wait until late September. And still she continued to be patient and exited about her puppy. Last week she received an email saying that Val had a male puppy available from the original 6/4 litter and asked if she was interested in it, which she absolutely was. Then on 7/29/20 she received an email from Val that only stated "I just retuned your $300 deposit to your friend. I feel I am not the breeder for you. Do not know how you would have time to care for a young puppy." That's it. End of story. After months of waiting, that is all she got. Val was aware of the entire situation from the start, so why string her along so long? Yes, my friend works during the day. However, she MOVED to be closer to her work so that she could come home at lunch to take care of the puppy, she was looking to hire dog walkers during the day, she was going to have her mom come stay for her for a month when the puppy came home to take care of it while it was house trained. I am SO SAD for my friend who was so looking forward to having a puppy to love and come home to. Now we have to start of search from the start. I'm all for breeders being careful in who they sell puppies, to... However to string someone along for MONTHS and then just send an email saying here's your deposit back because they think you don't have time to take care of a puppy? When she knew my friends entire situation from the very start of the process? Just not right or fair. Beware when you try to purchase a dog from this breeder. read more

I just recently adopted my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from Hank and Val. She is a great puppy, aside from being absolutely beautiful. She has adjusted so well from Florida to New York. I knew that getting my puppy from Cavaliers by Val was the right decision because of how much Hank and Val care for their puppies. They are both such great people. They put a lot of thought into deciding whether or not to work with me in adopting one of their puppies, as they make sure that they are sending the puppies to the perfect home. The dogs are from health tested parents, health tested themselves, and are with their mothers at the breeder's home. I would definitely recommend Cavaliers by Val to anybody looking for a Cavalier, and I would not hesitate myself to adopt a second puppy from them in the future. Thank you Hank and Val! read more

A year ago, I had similar experiences to those written here with Cavaliers by Val. I was looking for a puppy and spoke to Val by phone. All was well, and I put down my deposit. A month later, a week before the litter was born, she suddenly refunded me my deposit. She never called me and told me a thing. I have owned and cared for Cavaliers for years, own a home with a fenced yard....yet, she decided based on who knows what that I was not to adopt a dog from her. I have read many reviews about her and this is so common. She plays with peoples hopes and emotions, and then crushes them. If you notice on her google reviews, every time someone posts a negative review, within days there will be a glowing review to counter balance it. hmmmmm. I wonder how that happens almost every time. Save your time and aggravation and go to other breeders. There are so many honorable ones out there. (By the way, I did just that and ended up with the perfect pup for me) read more
