I had Cavallari Gutters install gutter guards 1.5 years ago in November 2017. I was just tired of calling out gutter cleaners to clean the gutters only to have to check on their work whenever it rained, and having to call them back for spots they missed. In my mind, overflowing gutters are really bad for the house's foundation and I take managing rain water away from the house very seriously so I don't have a wet basement. I waited to write this review to see how Cavallari's work held up through multiple seasons so as to be as helpful as possible to you.
We requested quotes and samples from several other vendors with all types of gutter guards who were all over the place with their quotes and really complicated seeming gutter guards. We went with Cavallari for two reasons: 1. I liked their Microguard product (they offer a basic gutter guard that is woven like a net and a more premium product called Microguard by Englert which has lots of small holes in it). It's a flat, simple product that only comes in silver and we were told it was a hassle free product. No need to ever clean the gutters again. 2. The pricing was competitive to all of the other local gutter companies and contractors we received quotes from.
Main Office and Estimate: Scheduling appointments for the estimate and installation was easy. I like to be at home to meet the estimator to size up the company I'm dealing with. I had an issue with a different gutter contractor on an unrelated job for my detached garage (didn't drill gutter screws in all the way, didn't crimp their guards properly, dented/bent guards during installation to make them fit, visibly poor work from the ground looking up, etc.) and I was now being very thorough with my diligence on the company we selected for the whole house job. Cavallari worked with my schedule and I was able to meet the estimator who gave me confidence through his porch side manor. I told the estimator and the lady in the office that I had some concern because some of my gutters are visible from upstairs windows and wanted to make sure that the guards were installed as cleanly as possible (didn't want to have the same issues as I had with the previous contractor I tested out on my smaller garage job). They assured me they'd take great care in the installation and let the installers know.
Installation Team: Cavallari's installers came on time in a very clean, professional van with all the appropriate tools and equipment. I told the installers, again, about how a row of my gutters are visible from upstairs windows and wanted the gutters installed as cleanly as possible. They told me they understood and proceeded to first clean the gutters completely, and install the Microguard gutter covers with the technical precision I was looking for. The guards are totally unobtrusive from the upstairs windows. You can't see them at all looking up at the house from the ground either as they lay completely flat along the top of the gutter, so it doesn't matter that our gutters are white and the covers are silver. Most importantly, they installed them very cleanly - no messy edges or joints or badly crimped ends.
The Verdict 1.5 Years Later: I have had 0 issues with these gutter guards. The house has a large oak tree over part of the roof and is surrounded by hundreds of neighboring trees. I used to have to clean the gutters out at least 3 times a year, spending anywhere from $100-$150 each trip. I've had to do nothing for the last 1.5 years, and Cavallari's work is on track to pay for itself. The Microguard covers have held up in the summer, spring and fall flawlessly, and I've had no issues with the NJ winters either. No icing over, no ice dams, or any other roofing issues that I read other similar products having. The Microgruard covers have been able to handle the heaviest rain storms we've had. No more checking around the house whenever it rains to make sure the gutters aren't overflowing after a cleaning. These really have been no-hassle gutter guards.
Trust me not all gutter cleaning and installation companies are the same, so do your homework. Cavallari is a great company that provided really good service on a critically important home improvement job. read more
