Deegan offered roofing/shingle replacement for $9,000, which included removing flashing. When job was done, they told me and I handed a check to the work manager. Within a month, a carpenter was on the new roof repairing wooden shingles. He noted no flashing had been added to the roof line, which could result in serious damage to house structure. We asked Deegan to come back only after several requests and proof of pictures from the carpenter. They replaced the flashing. On worker stated to us "This should have been done right the first time." In addition, roofers left debris throughout flower gardens and destroyed one front bush in a row of bushes through debris tossing. Deegan acknowledged, paid some money, but bush in this line can not be replaced and negatively affects front facade at time of house sale. read more

I have been working with this company for a few months trying to get them to do my gutters but for every question they have to send someone back to the house to redo the entire estimate. Which delays things a couple of weeks. The owner will never answer the call but leaves customer service to people who have no knowledge about roofing or gutter work. Very frustrating. Also they are totally unreliable and do not show up for appointments. They never call to change an appointment and just don't show. Had happened 3 times already. They person that did meet with me the first time and was knowledgeable and did offer the best advice I received. Yes they were 20% higher than anyone else but since I felt they were very qualified I was willing to pay. However, had I known how unreliable and inefficient they would be, I would never have invested the time to try to get them hired. A total waste of my time. All I can say is they may present a good initial picture but they are not a quality company. I guess they are too big to really care about their customers. If this is how they treat perspective customers, imagine the problems you would have getting them to your house to fix an issue. Stay away from this company. Beware. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. Trying to make excuses and blame me for them being unreliable. Also very insulting. Extremely disappointed with our experience with Deegan. After signing a proposal for a gutter replacement, we did not hear back from them regarding the start date for our work. We contacted them 3 times by phone and email and still did not hear back from anyone. Extremely unprofessional, unorganized, and unwilling to even do the most basic customer service. We have yet to hear back from them despite passing the proposed start date for our work and now have to go find someone else. I understand that work for construction and contractors are hectic, but to not even reach out once over a 3 week period and suggest a new date or say the work would be unable to be completed suggests they do not care at all about their customers. Breech of Contract...... I had Deegan out to quote a job. They gave me a proposal. They told me to sign the proposal and confirmed that it was a "contract once signed". They scheduled the job and when the guy showed up to do the job he said they were no longer interested in performing the work on the signed contract?? Would not recommend this company. My relationship goes back a few years with them and the roof I've been trying to get done is still not completed. I had originally dealt with Mike who I guess in the months after he came out to my home and we worked on details was either fired or quit. I was never notified and when I reached out in the month he told me to, I was abruptly told a new tech would have to come out and start the process over again. BUT they did not specify that Mike was gone. I told them I already had a quote and wanted to get that work done and wanted to move forward with that. The woman at the office told me ok someone would get back to me. I never heard back. Then I called back either weeks or months later (it's honestly been so long I cannot remember) and was THEN told that Mike was no longer there. So we scheduled for someone to come out. Jun was nice and started the process of trying to understand the project my roof would entail. To be clear this is not just a re-shingle job, it was going to require brand new ventilation as well as other detailed aspects. Jun worked with me for a long time on trying to get this done. There was increased plywood prices due to shortages, supply shortages, but we were trying to get this done. Come to find out the roof had been built in a way that made it impossible to fix based on Jun's original plan. The parts needed were back ordered for many many months. This was in April of 2021. To his credit, Jun showed up at my house with all the equipment and men needed and started work on the roof. He even patched it back up after he found out it was different than expected. He told me to contact him if anything major happened while we waited. The issue I have with Deegan is their communication. That office staff is RUDE. I'd fire my employees for less. If I could only deal with Jun I would. But there in lies my next issue, Jun doesn't communicate. I had a supposed work number for him that he did not answer. Text or phone call. The last time I spoke to him was April 2021. He told me to reach out if I had any immediate issues and he never got back to me. I also needed to get the gutters done asap and he never responded about that. The final straw of this was today. I had called last week to schedule for Jun to come out to my house to re quote and go over a few new issues like active leaking. He was supposed to show at 8:30am. I called their office at 8:50am after I didn't hear anything. The woman at the office told me she would reach out the Jun and she did. Supposedly he had an emergency and couldn't make it. Not sure how not showing up and not notifying is good practice. The thing this woman doesn't know, is that I have gotten that excuse from the office regarding Jun numerous times. I asked her to have him call me and tried to express my displeasure and she hung up on me. I called back and was told by someone else that Jun is unavailable because he is out in the field working. As of the posting of this I have still not received a phone call from Jun. I really wanted to work with this company, their work looks good and they patched up my roof after trying to get it done. I wanted to repay the faith by still giving them the job. Safe to say that isn't happening. No recommendations to this company could ever be made by me and I will be sure to warn off any one looking for roofing, siding, or gutters. read more

After a slow start (they are very busy), the work they ultimately performed on repairing the roof of our church buildings was good. We've had quite a few days of rain since the work was performed and there does not appear to be anymore leaking. What is holding me from giving them a five star rating (and at this point from hiring them to come back for additional work) is a call we received from their office regarding payment. The gentleman was rude, cut me off, raised his voice, and made up some excuse to complete his report (which I never agreed to or could even clarify because he would cut me off every time I tried to speak)...altogether an odd and unfortunate blemish on what is otherwise a pretty good roofing company in my opinion. It wasn't a big job, but they didn't brush me off like some other companies that came out to look( when they felt like showing up). When they came out to look. They have me a detailed explanation of what they see. They offered me 2 options, one of which was cheaper than the other, but effective for what we needed. They completed the work in one morning and billed me exactly what they quoted. I like that they didn't throw in any surprises. During the estimate, Brian was prompt, and very friendly. He gave us a booklet so we could choose what roof color we wanted, and he also had a huge book of previous jobs he had done in case we wanted to check out their work. I felt confident in going with them. Waited three weeks for them to give us a call to schedule the job. They said it could take up to 2 weeks for them to call. They never called us after the 3 week mark, yet they had already deposited our deposit check. When we finally call them, they say they are busy with so all the current jobs that had been delayed because of the recent rain and that they would call back to schedule us. After that point, they were quick to call us, update us on when they would drop off the roof materials (usually a day or two before). Did not start on the day they were supposed to. Called and they said if there is even a SLIGHT chance of showers, they can't come. OK, respect that. But there was a very low chance of rain that day so we were confused. Came next day. Was very surprised because the chance of rain and thunderstorms was more extreme. And we did not know if they could finish the roof in one day as promised, as we had a slate removal. As predicted, rain came. They did not finish the job in one day. They were scrambling to cover up the exposed parts with tarp before the rain came. As they were driving off, rain was coming down heavily. Massive, heavy rain storms continued for hours and of course we were having leaks all over -- additional places that DID NOT LEAK BEFORE! Our bedrooms had significant leaks that damaged the sheet rock. I understand that they did not come the day before -- most likely not because of weather delays -- but because they had another pending job on someone else's home. And that's fine, scheduling is hard and unpredictable with the constant rainy weather we have been having lately. I can't fault them for the weather, it's completely out of anyone's control! But just come on a DRY day!!! Delay us another week if you have to. Fortunately, they did come back the next day, bright and early, and finished after a full day. Clean up was good, efficient, and when they were gone I could not tell they were. That was a plus. Overall, pleased with the work, just wished the communication and timing worked out a little better. Roof was roughly $7,000 and was not happy to spend more money on top of that repairing my ceiling. read more

We had to call this company back twice, initially because the work on the chimney was not completed as stipulated in the contract. The second time my husband got on the roof himself to inspect the work after it was said to be completed, he saw that part of the job ( as agreed in the contract ) was not done at all. They had to came back and complete the job. I really don't know how these guys stay in business. They have the worst customer service by far. I was given a quote, and the quote needed to be revised based on the original agreement. When I call in, they ask me to communicate via email only. When I email, they ask me to call in to discuss further. When I call in and try and move the ball forward, they tell me the person responsible is out of the office. I have been in limbo for 2 months going back and forth. Zero star if at all possible. They are highly UNPROFESSIONAL. I had several estimates pending work for 2 months and out of the blue I found out that they cancel a major work order for me. I depended on those repairs. When I went to inquire the reason for the cancellation the staff there could not tell me when or how, just that it was canceled. And when I asked to speak to the owner Deegan I received insults, was verbally abused and one person there tried to forcibly kick me out. I was appalled by such an abusive behavior and that the owner never apologized and shifted the blame to me. After that sad experience, I ended up cancelling all orders because of how they treated me in the first place. Very bad experience. read more

We used Deegan many years ago so when it came time for a new roof they're the first ones we called. Brian Deegan came out, did an estimate, we selected our roof color, and he took our deposit. He told us they had materials in stock and could get started in about 3 weeks. The weeks came and went but we didn't hear anything so my husband called. What went on for the next 2-3 weeks was the most ridiculous back and forth I've ever seen. Someone from Deegan would return my husband's call and leave a message. My husband would call the office and get a very rude receptionist who acted like she had no record of our commitment, had no idea who had called us, and could not help. A few days would go by and we'd receive another message from another guy. My husband would call back and get the same receptionist who had no idea what he was talking about. After about 3 rounds of this, the receptionist tried to tell us they hadn't started the work because we hadn't picked our roof color yet. Umm, yes we did. We gave her the roof color we had already selected and assumed we'd be on our way. Nope. Still no action. At this point we're 6 weeks into this "project" and haven't gotten started yet. So my husband called and asked for our deposit back, at which point the receptionist said "nope, you signed a contract." After a heated conversation the company did the right thing and refunded our deposit. We all know these are trying times. It's hard to get materials, it's hard to hire good labor. We understand that and tried to be patient. But poor internal communication, incompetence, and downright rudeness cannot be blamed on the pandemic. Use Needleman Roofing. I hired Deegan Roofing in November of 2004 when the company was still small and at the time I thought I received good service so I recommended many of my friends to Deegan. (ordering 30 year Timberline Shingles) which included an attic fan. This summer was a complete nightmare-(and affected my health)---I noticed rain coming into my den, kitchen and master bedroom. Brian Deegan suggested a process which entails coating the roof and "said you will receive another 10 years out of this part of the roof." In addition I had my roof power washed by Juno Roofing, one of his sons. His other son is incapable of answering any questions, "I don't know, I'll get back to you." I'm still waiting. So I agreed and the sealant coating procedure failed. One of my friends who is in construction saw what they did and said this is not the way to fix the roof. Beth, who is one of the receptionists, is one of the kindest people you can ever meet. She is very intelligent, knowledgeable, and attempts to help in any way possible unlike others who work for Brian Deegan. "Treat people the way you wish to be treated." Some of his people are just so disrespectful (right James who is so nasty that I felt my blood pressure rising and just walked away and went inside my home). Now onto Part 2- which is equivalent to Nightmare on Elm Street-His own employee said he wouldn't have done that the sealant coating. The foreman was supposed to return (which he said "I'll be back") and never did. At the present time, I have a new roof in the back of the house with additional aggravation. The workers left the deck dirty, btw, I recently stained the deck and the deck floor, broke my motion detector, scraps were left on my roof, and my seat cushions had dirt all over them. But according to a nasty disrespectful employee who was smoking on my property (on the job), my seat cushions were bleached. Then I was accused of damaging my own deck floor with my grill. How insane. My grill was in the same place for a year and I have witnesses who will testify to that. And one of the receptionist said something about my financial circumstances. Wait , what????? Really!!!!! how dare you!!!!!! What was she talking about and Brian Deegan and another employee were standing right there and said nothing. BTW that employee told me, all Brian Deegan did was drop his mouth open, I don't know how they stay in business. Notified my friends who are in need of a new roof,my recommendation is to do not use Deegan Roofing. There are very few employees who are respectful at that company. Maybe those disrespectful employees (I was going to say people, but that isn't the correct term) should be enrolled in Manner/Respect 101. I taught my first, second and third graders how to speak and be respectful to one another. Maybe those employees could be taught by Jane Goodall. In addition, the company attempted to install a sign on my property advertising themselves without my permission. They were taking pictures!!! How unprofessional!!! read more

After reading my review, Mr. Deegan called me and personally apologized. He stated that it should not have happened and told me that someone would be at our house the next day to assess the damage and the work that already had been completed and that he would make things right. The next morning, we received a call from the office and were told that he would be coming by our house himself to look at what could be done to fix the roof correctly and rectify the situation. Since it was a Saturday, he told us we would have someone to recoat and reseal the flat part of the roof on Monday morning. Monday morning we were greeted by an office manager and the workers who did the job thoroughly and efficiently and made sure we were satisfied before they left. I really appreciate how seriously Mr. Deegan took this issue. He was earnest and sincere and seems to really care about his reputation, his business practices and his customers. read more

Definitely a bit on the amateur side. They don't use drip edge on the eaves of the roofs they do. Ask any good roofer or just google it. It's the most critical spot on a roof to use drip edge yet they claim it's not standard practice to do so. Use someone else or deal with the consequences of your decking and fascia rotting. On top of this their work is sloppy having seen a roof they did first hand. Avoid. read more

Deegan Roofing: Terrible Service In mid-July, we noticed that after a rain storm, water had leaked from a ceiling vent onto the floor of our upstairs bathroom. We contacted Deegan Roofing, who had put on a new roof about 6 years ago. They sent someone a few days later, who took a look at the leak and said he'd be back the next day to repair the roof. He showed up about 3 days later and did work on the roof. About 2 weeks later, we noticed the same leak in the bathroom, which again occurred after a rain storm. We called Deegan and they said somebody would be out the following Monday. The same guy showed up and said he knew what the problem was and would be back the next day. When he didn't show up by noon on Friday, we called Deegan Roofing again and they assured me that someone would be out the following Monday. Deegan then called me on Monday and said that due to the expected rain on Monday, they would be coming on Friday (Aug. 27) instead. Not only did no one come, but because of Ida, we now had a significant amount of water leaking into the upstairs bathroom. I called Deegan on Sept. 2nd and 3rd and was told that someone would do the repairs on Saturday, Sept. 4th. And...you guessed it....no one showed yet again. So despite all of the apologies for not returning calls and missed appointments, our leak is still not fixed. I have never had the unfortunate displeasure of dealing with such an incompetent business. Do yourself a favor and use a different roofing company. read more

Got a NEW ROOF ONE YEAR AGO and it wasn't leaking before, but NOW IT LEAKS!! Has been since August, when we made our first complaint about a leak in 3 different locations. They came out, said nothing was wrong and told us to call on a particularly rainy day. You know, because I'll definitely be home and available to monitor my brand new roof during the next rain fall. Well, it just so happens I DID AND THEY DIDN't COME OUT OR RETURN OUR CALLS. Fast forward a FEW MONTHS of ongoing calls and leaving message after message, ONLY TO BE IGNORED WITH A ROOF THAT IS STILL LEAKING!! Also, inspector said they didn't put in a ridge vent, which apparently is standard. Starting to think THEY JUST WANT MY ONE YEAR WARRANTY TO EXPIRE to deny fault and fix the problem to provide me with the SERVICE I PAID QUITE A LOT FOR to begin with. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Horrible new roof, almost non-existent customer service, and I'm stuck with an expensive problem. read more
