Wonderful winery. The staff are very courteous and friendly. We had a bottle of Zinfandel wine and popcorn as a snack. The wine was superb and the popcorn was great. The business offers indoor seating, outdoor seating and additional seating in chairs on grass that overlook the vineyards. The business only allows service animals and has a guard dog on premises, which is very friendly. Overall we had a great experience and will be back soon! read more

This winery was very laid back and cozy. They have a fireplace and several areas with couches. I enjoyed the live music and easy way to do the tasting which came in a flight with the type of wine you wanted to try. The wine is more of a 3/5 but the ambiance of the winery added more points for me. The food was easy to go food like salads, flatbreads and other easy to share foods. I got the margarita flatbread and it was delicious. I recommend this winery to anyone new to drinking wine and want a chill place to hang out with friends. read more

This place is extremely cozy. You can get one fight for $14 or a flight for 2 for $20. They had several options which I thought was great. The staff were friendly. You go up to the bar to order and you can drink your wine inside or outside. They have a beautiful fireplace and you can look over the landscape. It was relaxing and all the wine was very good. Disappointed with our experience. We visited with our 10-month-old baby and were told we could not stay because children 16 and under are not allowed. While there was a sign, we never imagined that policy would apply to an infant, and we have never encountered that issue at other wineries. If babies are included in the age restriction, that should be clearly specified on the website and in signage to avoid families making the trip only to be turned away. Better communication would have made for a much better experience. read more

Great atmosphere with tasty wines, yummy food, and the cutest winery pup. Inside and out, it is a peaceful and fun spot to enjoy with friends and family. Different options for glasses of wine and wine flights (one person & two person flights available at good prices). Service was great and let us sample before ordering. The only non-family friendly winery in Dahlonega. They used to have playground and welcomed families. Now they have a strict policy that no one under the age of 16 may even be on the premises; otherwise they will deny service and ask you to leave. A shame, as most all other wineries in Dahlonega are family centered and always welcomed. read more

Cavender was a great stop on. This was the second vineyard we stopped at on our little wine tour of the Dahlonega plateau. We walked into a place that had lower ceilings and a lot more cedar. It gave the impression of a cozy cabin. We ordered flights and grabbed a sofa in the indoor area. The outside had a lot of people already so our spot looked perfect. After a taste of our first white our food came out. A nice cheese spread. It was really good and a great accompaniment to the tasting. And the wines were solid as well. A respectable tasting for sure. We had a guest of a big shaggy dog come through as well. He was a resident there it seems. Love, love, love this place! It was the very first winery we visited in the area years ago, and I keep coming back. The renovations completed in recent years have only added to the experience. It's not the best wine in the region, but I think they make good wine. The service is also very good, even when busy. There is ample outdoor seating, fire pits, and grounds to roam. You have to hang out with the donkeys while you're there too! There are rustic houses you can stay in too (but I can't comment on those). read more

That outdoor area has patio has a fire pit bar area areas, tons of couches and chairs and rocking chairs just to enjoy a tasting a glass of wine with family and friends service was helpful. They talk to you like your family. They allowed us to sample to sample wines, and guiding explaining about their wines and the process even with a ton of people waiting, you felt like you were the only person in the room because they want you to enjoy the wine that you pick . excellent customer service. After picking our Wine we purchased a charcuterie board they gave us a vibrating pager so that when our charcuterie board was ready wherever we were on the property, we could come back and pick it up so that we weren't wasting any time being able to experience this beautiful Land and winery that charcuterie board was excellent. It had H cheese Meat, fruit, nuts, olives and a mustard but I would asked them if they had a honey and a jam they went to go check and they came back with a honey and a jam that they added on the charcuterie board at no extra cost was perfect. Presentation was perfect. while waiting for a charcuterie board we picked a picnic table out on the hill area overlooking the vineyard. The mountains and the donkeys. were able to enjoy our glass of wine, sunset, and the donkeys. Let's talk about this amazing Cabernet Frank, rich, medium bodied, driven by bold fruit, and spices perfect wine to go with meat and cheese. I have gone to a lot of wineries and I have never liked a wine to buy a bottle and I am am over the moon about this wine that I bought my first bottle. I haven't been to Cavendar Creek since the pandemic. We'd pack a picnic and enjoy our day in the country, generally with only a handful of tables occupied. A quickie update: -- outside food is no longer permitted. -- the price of wine has gone up, considerably. (What hasn't?!) On a beautiful fall day expect crowds. Yesterday, the vineyard was packed with folks enjoying the weather and the live music. Per an employee, things are quieter during the week. "Can we bring our lunch then?" I asked. Nope. It has the feel of a county cabin and is a relaxed atmosphere that will make you feel like you are right at home! Comfortable indoor group seating areas and a large outdoor porch with a fireplace and rocking chairs. A lawn area with tables and chairs to spread out if you want some privacy with your friends and family. The flowers and fenced area with their mascot donkeys will keep you and your friends entertained! They have a nice menu with many wonderful wine choices and some snacks and charcuterie board choices! Cavendar Creek is located in Dahlonega, GA and it is an extremely popular choice in wineries. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon and little to no seating available. We settled on the patio area which was nice and they had live music to enjoy in the background. Unfortunately, the petting farm was closed upon our visit and service dogs are not allowed of any kind! The grounds are OK but nothing impressive. I really enjoyed the peach white wine but the snacks and dips weren't great. I personally have other favorite wineries in Georgia. read more

We came here on a weekend over the Holidays while visiting downtown Dahlonega. It is about 10 minutes from the downtown area and has a long, welcoming gravel driveway. There is a good amount of parking and on the day we were there, there was live music. We lucked out and grabbed a reserved couch near the only TV, which the party who reserved it had left early, so we took the rest of their time. It also happened to be near the fireplace, which was clutch. There is an indoor area, a covered patio area (where we were), and an outdoor area, which was pretty full even though it was cold, they had fire pits out there. There is also some room for kids to run around and there were some kids for sure. I would describe it as kid friendly. You order up at the counter and they have wine, beer (not theirs), and food. We got a few flights and the selection is great. A couple of the flights have 4 pours and others have 6. You pay to get your flight ticket and then go to a station to turn in your ticket and watch them pour. The pours are measured and the wooden holder for the flight is cool. The food here is not the best, but at least it is offered and the selection is pretty good. The staff were all super friendly. There is a cabin onsite that you can stay in for the night. read more

Came with my MIL and 2 SILs for a girls afternoon. Love the atmosphere. We each picked a flight to try. I went with the "Sweet" flight. For the most part, I thought it was lacking in sweetness. I really liked the peach wine. The sangria was flat. The cranberry was too tart but I think it should be drank first and maybe that would make it taste sweeter. The blackberry wine was decent. Next I tried the strawberry daiquiri slushy and that was really good. We also ordered a charcuterie board, which was delicious. Great, low-key location for a quiet date night, a group outing, or even a family outing (plenty of area for kids to safely roam and play). The wines may not be world-class, but the flights offer enjoyable sips in a lovely rural setting with attentive service and a variety of appetizers. I am, however, super sad that the Great Pyrenees I was warned about never graced us with his presence; a visit from a giant shaggy dog would have been the icing on the cake. Used to love coming here for its family friendly environment but haven't had the chance to come back since we had a child of our own this year. We were excited to bring her but upon arrival, we were quickly turned away because they recently changed their policy to no longer allowing kids under the age of 16. If you've ever been to actual legitimate wineries over in Europe, you'd know that they are extremely family friendly, so for a North GA winery to not accept kids anymore seems ridiculous. They lost our business and we will be taking it to places like The Cottage and The JumpinGoat instead that have more scenic views anyway! read more

We have loved coming here in the past but we're so disappointed in the new ownership. No dogs and kids inside is completely understandable. Not allowing them in the rustic outside is surprising. We have been to wineries all across the country and have never encountered this issue even in Napa. To not be family friendly OUTSIDE at a mid tier winery in Dahlonega is shocking. They pretend to be dog friendly with an onsite dog and dog signs but have now decided to forbid any others. On a quiet winter night where no one was bothered, the owner decided to personally ask us to "vacate the premises" and informed us there are "signs everywhere". Enjoy yourselves at one of the many, better wineries that exist around north Georgia if you are looking for a more inclusive atmosphere. If you are looking for an adults only spot, this may be the new winery for you but you are better off enjoying a nicer spot for your alone time. read more

Our first winery visit in Dahlonega & this may have set the bar way too high for the others. As you turn in in the dirt road you can see that the land this winery is on is massive. Plenty of parking, and areas outside (as well as inside) to enjoy your time here. A very "homey" feel to it as soon as you walk in. Every employee we encountered was extremely hospitable. A lot of pride & passion was put into the feel of this place and it shows. Not your average "check it out & onto the next", more of "spend your whole day here" kind of winery. Lots of options when it comes to wines by the glass, bottle, & flights. They even had some craft beer, wine slushes & mulled wine made with their own merlot! No restaurant food here but they have plenty of snacky foods. We opted for the charcuterie board- presentation was lovely. Get it! It went perfect with our flights! We were recommended the salmon dip (new item) and was told it was amazing. Hopefully next time. It was hard to choose a place to setup camp (wine flights & charcuterie). Way too many choices! Inside, outside, fire pit, fire place, high top, couch side, etc. If you choose outside you have views, llama's, a playground, and fire pits. My favorite thing about this place was that it had a lil something for everyone. Very kid friendly, great for a date spot, girls night out- all occasions seem to be celebrated.
