I hate to leave this review because I love cavenders as a company, but this location is terrible and not a good representation of this company. Please take the time to drive down to the fairmont location, you will have much better service. The staff here are not interested in taking care of you , I just bought a lot of items here last week and when we checked out it took them more than 20 mins to get someone to help us, during this time we see almost 6 different employees just standing around the front staring at us, not even trying to ensure us that help is on the way. Mind you they had maybe 3 customers in the store, not busy at all. After I got home I realized the vest and jeans I got were not a fit so we called them and asked if we could return them or exchange for the right size, we unfortunately did not have the receipt and the tags were taken off but the person on the phone said they would make it work, so I went in today and was also met with different but still unfriendly staff, just standing around , only one staff member was nice and tried to see if we needed anything. Once we got the right size items we go up front and are greeted by a very un friendly employee who said that the jeans "had signs of them being washed " so they would not return them. I have never washed these jeans, they are brand new. I'm very upset that we wasted all this time looking for my size and standing up front just to be told that they can't work with us, these jeans are brand new, to make it worse they made us wait another 20 mins up front when checking out. When we asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager on staff at the moment and that she already discussed the matter with her manager over text. When did they discuss this? We are meeting this person for the first? What this tells me is that when we walked in to do the return and they told us to leave the items up front while we get the right size, they must have conspired about this while we spent all this time getting the right size. If they knew they would not return them then why let us waste so much time looking around? That's just rude . Please avoid this location at all cost, the staff truly have zero customer service skills, go to the fairmont location, you will be greeted by a friendly staff who makes you feel like they care read more

I have been to this Cavender's twice now and each time it's an absolute treat! This certainly isn't Kansas,Toto! Coming from Florida to this place is like stepping into a boars hair, leather scented dream! I'm always able to find great gifts and sometimes a little something for myself. I leave here wanting to take a couple pairs of boots and some chic hats, but always show restraint. My husband and I had time to kill so we thought we'd go get him some shirts at Cavender's. As we walked in we were greeted by every employee and asked if we needed help with anything. The store manager even introduced himself to us and ask if we were being helped and treated good. Lol It's nice to get good help and to walk in somewhere and be greeted by people. These days people are on there phones or talking to each other. Customer service means a lot and is what makes me go back to a place. They had a good sale plus give a military discount. Most of the workers were nice, however management was beyond rude. We have been so excited to go to this place because we are from out of town. They sold us boots of two different sizes, couldn't find the correct matches and would not honor the same price for a different, comparable pair. We ended up purchasing a comparable pair for more money, went to boot barn, had even better service. We recommend going there instead. When we went back to Cavender's to return the original boots and the management was rude again. Commented on our appearance (of sunburn) and didn't want to take our returns even though they hadn't been worn ever. Would NOT recommend. read more

I would like to know why this locations higher ups allow extensive bullying? And every time it's brought up to them by the employees they ignore it and allow the same people to stay and continue working here without repercussions for their actions. I worked here for a very short period of time. In those weeks I worked everyday, I was left completely alone in the building while the others sat in the break room and office making TikToks. This group including a manager and her friends. I was bullied profusely at the word of this particular manner and all of her friends. And I was constantly being yelled at by the manager and her friends to do jobs and tasks that were there's to do but they had fallen behind on because of there lack of work ethic. After having a long conversation with the GM and head manager I was told the matters we're gonna be fixed but I left anyways because everyone said that they had not taken even a second to fix the matter in the past besides holding group meetings and yelling at everyone about bullying. I'm putting this on here because I hear that all of this bullying is still going on and still being ignored. Extensive bullying can lead to many terrible things and I will not be quite and watch more teens get bullied to this degree. I have lost multiple friends of mine due to bullying less then what these workers have to go through here. In the time working here I even had customers complain about the attitudes they received from these employees. I hope this reaches someone besides the people who have already been spoken too. This place has a great selection of boots. I like to systematically look at and try on boots (work boots) by brand and narrow down my choices. A friendly salesman came up to us and we did the back and forth banter thing and I hinted that I was going to find a pair of boots that I liked and buy them. I also said, when I'm done I'll check out with you. The guy just wouldn't leave me alone and let me look at the boots the way I wanted to. I finally got frustrated and said I'm going to have to look somewhere else, and I did (Redwing). I 100% would have purchased a pair of boots $150.00 - $200.00 at this place if I was able shop. My husband, who works in the plants, went looking for a new pair of work boots today (5/10/2019). He waited for help and was ignored. The attendant, Kyle, walked passed him several times and even made eye contact. He then proceeded to ask the person next to him if they needed help. My husband then asks him for help, and he got him the boots he asked for but quickly walked away. This wouldn't have been a problem if every other customer in the store was treated this way. The other attendants were helping each customer until they found the pair they needed. This made him feel really uncomfortable and unappreciated as a customer. Why was his money any different than everyone else's? He finally got tired of waiting, and as he was leaving Kyle stared him down until he walked out the door. I just want to say that I had an exceptional experience at this store today. I am a rodeo volunteer and had purchased some black boots at the location close to NRG. They seemed fine in the store. I wore them once and they seemed very loose. I had read some pretty horrible stories about exchanging boots that had been worn even once so I almost didn't try. I work in clear Lake so I stopped at this location. The manager Jimmie I think his name is, was so nice and polite about it. Mind you these were still in like new condition no scuffs or anything . He got a gentleman named Cody to help me out and find the exact fit I needed. Cody was also extremely friendly and went above and beyond. I also ended up buying a new pair of jeans and a belt. I've shopped at this location multiple times with the hope that their customer service would improve. Unfortunately, this will probably be the last time due to poor customer service. I was with my 2 children shopping for their Houston Livestock & Rodeo show clothes. Most employees seem to be standing around in groups talking with each other. I asked for help with my daughter who was looking for Cowgirl boots. We needed a pair of stocking socks. The gentlemen that was trying to help us broke open a pair of boy socks which were 3 times the size of my daughter's foot. I just had her try on the boots without socks. I also asked another employee for help finding a pair of boots in the back because my son's size was not on the shelf. His "lazy" response was that all boots are on the shelves. I asked another employee the same question and she went into the stock room and came out with what we were looking for. Lastly, when I was checking out, I asked if they honored a military Veteran discount and the girl at the counter looked at me like I was crazy. She said yes, but you can't combine it with any other discounts. After the transaction, she handed me my bag and looked at the other girl at the register and began to talk about something. I don't expect a "thank you," but since I'm spending my hard earned money at a store, it would be nice. I'm not planning on returning to Cavender's in the future. read more

The store does have a lot of merchandise. But i went in this Cavenders yesterday, and the customer service though was awful. I did not once get asked if I needed help or anything. I came in last month for the rodeo and the manager was yelling in the office to i being to one of his members of staff because from what I heard someone called in. Help arrived quickly ~Brittany. A nice classy Texas girl who was willing to answer a thousand questions over and over. I needed comfort and she took me to the comfort section. She asked good questions to narrow down my choices. She also was a dear and helped me get in and out of each pair. Seemed like a good store so I bought a pair of expensive ostrich boots. One of the boots was defective on the inside seam and hurt my ankle. When I sent them back their inspector said they would send them back to me with "" inserts "that should fix the problem. They said I was wearing them without inserts. I went here today to shop for some FRC jeans and steel toe boots for work. I have to admit, that as an Asian, I had my hesitations to the service I'd get from reading some of the reviews about this store and location on another website. I've been to the Pasadena location about a couple months back and thought the staff there was friendly, so I wanted to give this location a fair shot, and I was also headed to Galveston today anyways. I was not greeted when I walked in, but the store had about 15 customers, so I figured they were busy. I found the FRC work clothes area and found the jeans in the sizes I wanted; now I wanted to try out the two sizes to see which ones fit best. I informed the staff at the counter that I was going to try them on, and if it was ok? They said yes. I tried them on, found the size I wanted, and walked back to put the other one back and get another of my size. From there a lady name "Shelly" inquired if I liked them, and from there on, she helped me get another pair and find the right pair of steel toe boots, in the size that I wanted. Another note: I requested size 11 boot, and was walking around in them for a few minutes to make sure (you don't want boots too loose, working and walking for hours) they were not too loose. She came back and I requested a size 10.5; as I took off my 11, she saw that, and said, "oh yeah, those came off too easy; they shouldn't come off that easy." So she confirmed my suspicions, and I'm glad she did. I tried the 10.5 and they fit better. I know that not everyone gets the same experience with the same business or even the same people, and that maybe when I asked them if I could try on the jeans, they decided that I was worth helping to the end, but whatever the case, my experience there today was great. So, I'll most likely shop here again. read more

Service is horrible. I went in looking for women's jeans. NOT ONE single woman came up to help me. Only a man came up to help me. My boyfriend went in on a separate occasion yesterday looking for jeans. Only the women came up to help him. When you are in the WOMENS department woman should help you and vise versa. All of these negative reviews HAVE to be about the older lady that works there. "Shelly". I've been a loyal customer at cavenders for 8 years. I recently moved to the clear lake area and I have been to this location two times. The first time was nothing short of great. I was helped by a woman named Tracy on Luccheese's and her customer service was definitely the reason I felt comfortable returning to this location. The second time I shopped here I felt very uncomfortable. I was being watched the entire time by an older woman with short hair and highlights. Apparently she is an assistant manager, but I do not know any place who would hire an assistant manager like her. I'm truly disappointed with cavenders and the person who hired her. She starred at me the entire time I was in the store and then walked away to the cashier area. She then told a cashier something and the cashier looked at me, got off of the register and proceeded to straighten out the racks near me. The cashier was called on the speaker and walked away. I went into the woman's boots area and she followed me. Keep in mind she had not said one word to me this entire time. Not one word, but as soon as I tried a boot on ($389) she approached me and asked "are those working out for you?" I smiled and said yes. I grabbed the other boot and she then said "Let me hold those for you at the front" I thanked her and walked over to the FRC section for my husband. I could still see this woman watching me from the men's clothing racks. Another employee approached me named "Alyniece" she was very helpful and did not make me feel like I was trying to steal from the store. The one star is for the "Alyniece" and "Tracy" employees. If not for these two women I would have given this location 0 stars for the assistant manager, Shelly. As I was checking out I asked the cashier if there was a manger I could speak to and she kindly asked another cashier to "page Shelly" I said "No ma'am that's fine i'm okay" and she proceeded to check me out without a problem. Also, I noticed on my receipt that the "Salesperson" was "Shelly". I spent $579.67 in that store. I'm not sure if they work off of commission but if that is the case i'm very upset that she made money off of me. The following day my husband went back to exchange his FR pants for a longer size. I told him to ask for Alyneice and sadly she was not there. Once my husband got the right size he says the same lady Shelly was called to the front. According to my husband she came up to the register turned to a cashier and said "I have a customer waiting these returns and exchanges need to stop" My husband being him, said nothing and handed her the receipt. She said nothing to him while exchanging his pants except for "sign the bottom part" My husband signed it, she gave him a copy of the receipt and walked off without a word. With ALL of that being said, I will no longer be shopping at this location! The drive to the Cavenders by the Astrodome is way worth it if need be. I do hope that this assistant manager is re-evaluated. I hope that the corporate office reads these reviews and does something about this. read more
