I want to thank you Animal Humane for allowing me to adopt my wonderful dog! I moved back home to…read moreCalifornia and brought my dog. He has been a true blessing. He has been amazing. I made sure to set him up for success with all the training I could give him since he was already 2 years old approx. I want to bring awareness to give dogs time to adjust, my dog took about a full year to show his true personality and even then he has improved over the years. I adopted him 3 years ago and he has kept on growing in trusting people more and becoming more confident. Give dogs a chance only if you are willing to give them time, they are 10000% worth the investment of time and effort. Also, donate to your animal shelters when you can! I try to, every year on the day of his adoption :)

Their facility is bright, clean, open, and welcoming. Founded in 1965, Animal Humane is New Mexico's oldest animal welfare organization, and it shows in the care and dedication they provide. When I adopted her, the process was simple, efficient, and fairly priced. Lately, I've been thinking about how I can give back to my community, and the first place that came to mind was Animal Humane. I signed up to volunteer through their website, and they responded quickly--I was able to attend an orientation within two weeks. The orientation was incredibly informative, not just about the organization's mission, but also about the many ways volunteers can get involved. Since then, I've been volunteering in their on-site low-income pet food distribution center, and it's been amazing to see their mission in action. If you're looking to adopt a pet or find a meaningful way to give back, this is the place. Thank you, Animal Humane, for bringing so much joy into my life!

I mean what kind of urgent care doesn't accept walk ins? Come on Albuquerque vets get it together! Yikes! Anyways I was happy to get help right away as I was worried about my dog in the condition she was in. To be frank I was honestly avoiding this trip the previous couple days hoping the issue with my dog would resolve itself. Unfortunately by the 3rd day it appeared worse so I had to get my dog checked. Everything went great until they showed me the estimate for a diagnostic test. Oh boy that was a hard pill for me to swallow. Hesitantly I agreed to paying the bill. After about 3 hrs they were able to get a diagnosis and send me off with some stuff to help my dog. I am grateful to see my dog on the mend since my visit but the cost was hard to stomach. I honestly hope I don't need to bring her back in anytime soon cuz my wallet definitely can't bare the expense. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am thankful to see my dogs health improve since our visit and I appreciate the help they provided us. I wouldn't mind returning I just wish it was a little more affordable.

A few years ago, my cat developed diabetes. VCA vet prescribed a very expensive Libre monitor. This…read moreinvolved attaching a disc-shaped monitor to his skin. He kept ripping off the monitor. I kept having to purchase new ones, then bring him back to the vet for increasingly aggressive attachments which he responded to with equally aggressive scratching and biting to get it off. Finally, his back was a shredded bloody mess, and I was at my wit's end. He. Was. Suffering. VCA folks didn't care about his suffering. Also, none of this was working to lower his blood sugar. I couldn't get a good reading with the monitor. I finally called the manufacturer and they explained to me that it doesn't work for cats. It's only for humans. Turns out you don't measure blood sugar the same way in cats as you do in humans. I explained this to the hospital manager, Deidre. She told me they were wrong, and wanted to put a fourth monitor on my cat. I got very angry at this point, and let's just say I was invited to find another veterinarian. (By this time I had been their customer for about a decade.) Thank God. I went to Kokopelli, and they prescribed the appropriate testing and treatment, as well as equipment and medicine. (Which, btw was NOT a Libre monitor.) They were compassionate, and I was able to manage my cat's diabetes after that. It has taken me a long time to write this, because I am still very angry at the level of malpractice VCA committed. And then continued to commit, even after having been told they were prescribing the wrong treatment. And I will never get over the heartbreak I feel for my beloved cat. He should never have suffered like that.
