i love this store. They have specials every month and it's a different stuffed squeaky animal that is a good sized stuffy and they are always only $5. We try and get in and pickup a couple because the older ones have died an easy death of losing their ears. :) This Month it was Stuffed Teddies that we chose and they are always quite busy but somehow seem to get everyone through in a timely manner. rude staff and false advertisements. Outside the grooming salon there a sign that advertises "no appointment needed" with a service called a "quick wash". I took my dog in, without an appointment booked and asked for the quick wash. they then told me that they didn't have any availability. the woman i spoke to was nice, but when she asked all of the other groomers if they could groom my dog, they were very rude. "don't be afraid to tell her no" one of them said to the woman i was speaking with...right in front of me. read more

Poor customer service , miserable groomer with bad attitude. They made a 2:15 appointment and my dog wasn't ready till 6:30. I called twice to ask when she would be done and they were rude acted as if I was inconveniencing them by calling. When I brought my dog in, I told them that if she wasn't ready by 6pm I couldn't pick her up till 8. When my husband picked her up, they told him next time you need to pick her up as soon as we call or else there will be a late fee. Never again will we give them our business. read more

I had an appoint for my dog at 12:15 to be washed, they contacted me 45min before the appointment and left a message on my phone to let me know that the person that was going to wash my dog called out and they will need to move my appointment to 2:30pm. 10 min later I called them back to let them know that would be ok when they informed me that they gave that appointment to someone else's because I didn't answer. I told them that I was in the shower on my way there but that didn't matter. I was told that next available appointment in next weekend. What a poor service. $65 for a wash only and this is what I was told? No thank you. No more. I went in the store because we had a 20% of coupon and it only works in store, not online. I wanted to buy a DNA test kit for my mixed breed dog. The app says this location had them in stock. I couldn't find it in the store, and there was no employee in sight to help me find what I was looking for. I had to go to a register and ask if they had it available. She ask her manager to look in the back. Then this other employee came from the outside and said he'll check in the back if there was any in stock. About 30 seconds later, he came back and said they were completely out of stock. Telling us the fake "sorry". Well, we went back on the app and it still said the product was in stock. So I bought it through the app and did curbside pickup. About one hour later, we go to curbside and this employee handed me the product that I asked for earlier. So what happened? They magically have the DNA test now just one hour later. This is the same location mind you. This moron employee pretended to look in the back and wasted my time. I don't appreciate being undermined and have my intelligence insulted. I guess this is how this location is managed. If they tell you they are out of stock, double check the app because these people are probably lying to your face. read more

A dog got loose from his owner today while checking out at the Petsmart register (as I understand it). I was in the parking lot when two employees came out trying to catch the dog. I joined in. The dog took off across the lot, across the road and into the cottonwood mall parking lot. I got into my car to race that way. I caught up with the two employees and offered them a ride closer to the dog. They got in and we drove a bit to catch up with the dog and a third employee. The dog was very scared. I opened my car door as the two employees jumped out with leashes. As the three employees were trying their best to surround the dog, he jumped into my lap (40-50 lb dog) and I grabbed hold of him. An employee was able to secure him with a leash. The owner pulled up as all of this was happening and the dog was safely loaded into his vehicle. A fourth employee arrived, out of breath and sweating. He had run further down Coors bypass to be the furthest out in case the dog took off south on Coors bypass (good thinking). A happy ending for this owner and dog. I just want to give a shout out to all 4 employees for doing everything they could to rescue this scared dog. Well done!!! I would be so very thankful if it was my dog. God bless you four!! read more

Grooming salon? No way. WHY would you shave the top of her nose!? I paid then picked her up or I wouldnt have paid. Management will need to train on this because it's ridiculous. A little expensive, but still a great place. They have about 3 aisles worth of dog and cat food, which is a little overwhelming. But it's nice to know I can get what I need there. I like the fact that you can take your dog there if you want. I did have an issue with them awhile back. I took my dog there to get groomed (also a bit pricey) and when he came home, his eye was swollen, red, and watering. I thought he had picked up an eye infection or there was some sort of trauma. I took pictures and went to PetSMart the next day. They claimed that he probably got soap in his eye during the grooming. Needless to say, I no longer take my dog to get groomed there. read more

PetSmart is like Albuquerque in the sense that it is a decent size pet store, but has a small-store vibe. In addition, I've noticed dogs shooting up in the corner, some mean ass dog starting trouble, and another one urinating on the curb. PetSmart supports Watermelon Ranch, a no-kill animal shelter, buy housing some of their cats and dogs for adoption. We just adopted a cat from this location and were very happy with the support of this organization. I applaud PetSmart for working with them. In addition to the decent customer service, the selection and prices of their merchandise are very competitive. read more

Grooming.... I have been taking my poodle to Pet Smart ever since she was a puppy. I am originally from California and moved to Albuquerque in 2011. I had tried other groomers here in Albuquerque, but decided to stick with Pet Smart. I have taken my poodle to the Cottonwood Pet Smart several times over the last 4 years. Every time I go there is never any consistency. This last time I took my poodle in, the groomer Alley asked to look and feel her ears (which can and have been matted before) to see if they were matted. I told her that I combed her ears out the day before and Alley's words to me were "OH, She's not that bad!" So when I came back to pick up my poodle they charged me an extra 7 dollars for "matting,extra brushing, etc". Which on the receipt they gave me actually had a time limit on it I am assuming was the time she spent brushing out the mattes. I can completely understand if the mattes were bad, but she wasn't at all! She had no mattes in here ears at all! Also, don't tell me that shes not bad and then charge me the extra 7 bucks anyways. Plus the price went up from the original price that I had always paid. It would have been nice if they told me that when I dropped her off. My poodle is never happy to go to the the groomer there either. I'm just tired of the inconstancy of this place so I am going else where! read more

IF you have an 8:15 am grooming appointment, do not arrive one second before 8:15. Even though they say they open at 8:00 am, that does not mean they are open to customers. One snotty a$$ then refused to take my dog because to me open at 8 means being open to customers. I never had a business complain because the customer arrived early. read more

I have tried to work with this place but my dogs have a new injury every time they are groomed here. After the last injury, they recommended a more experienced groomer. What a mistake, this lady cut my poor puppies whiskers so low he was left with cuts all over his face. Besides the injuries she did not know how to do a schnauzer cut at all. Normally when a puppy is injured petsmart let's you know and even the managers get involved but not at this place. I will never go back! read more

While staring at the endless shelves of dog treats, I was approached by Steven, one of their dog trainers. I mentioned that I was shopping for my soon-to-be adopted rescue dog, and he proceeded to help me pick out not only treats, but other necessary items, as well. He also directed me to a bag of coupons they offer people who adopt or rescue, with quite a few big ticket items, like a free day's stay in Doggy Day Care, or $10 off their training class, along with smaller necessities like dog shampoo, treats, and toys - definitely worth asking about if you're getting a new pet. My dog and I are currently in Steven's beginner training class, and he is patient and clear in his instructions. He uses positive reinforcement training (treats and clicker). Other employees helped me pick out the best dog food for my dog (again, offering coupons, this time for $5 off Avoderm, which my dog loves), a properly sized crate, and a good brush. They've all been friendly and helpful, and super kind to my dog. This will definitely be my default location. read more

I have been bringing my two dogs Ragz and P-Nut in to be groomed for a number of years. They have always come out looking and smelling beautiful. My recently deceased husband, Phil, usually gave the kids some in between trimming and bathing if needed. I am on a walker and since Phil's passing it has become more difficult for me to get the dogs in for their grooming. For the last two or three visits the groomers have been kind enough to come out to the car and bring the dogs in for me, rather than subjecting them to my putting them into a shopping cart and being walked in, causing a safety issue for both of us and unnecessary anxiety for them from an experience they are definitely not used to. Following a fall several days ago Shyanne came out to my car as they have been kind enough to do the last several times I've brought the dogs in. But when I was called that the kids were ready to go, I was asked a rather strange question: how had I planned to pay for today's services? As usual I was going to use a card. Then came a surprise: the manager came online and offered to take my card and make the payment over the phone so it wasn't necessary for me to get out of and back into the car at all. Tears came to my eyes as I realized Shyanne learned that I had taken a fall and thought it easier for me to handle my transaction in this manner, and following agreement and approval by store manager Suzanne (?) she came on the line to explain how they wanted to help and to take the information to clear out today's charges. The staff at this location both in the store to make regular purchases and the grooming staff which I use on a fairly regular basis are excellent, always available and more than willing to help. For grooming, I wouldn't take my fur-babies anywhere else. I thank them kindly for the extra efforts they took today to help me out and will continue to use and recommend this to anyone. read more

I had scheduled a grooming session for my puppy, it was a long wait to get an appointment. Per their policy they require your pet to be vaccinated with the exception of puppies up to 16 weeks old they can waive that. When I arrived for my appointment I went to check in and was asked if I had my proof of rabies vaccination. I told them I had my records for all vaccinations except rabies as their website stated it could waive that for puppies 16 weeks and under. I was promptly told that they would not provide me service. I tried to express that he just turned 16 weeks on the day of his appointment and that all other vaccines were current. Rabies is recommended from what I've researched to wait until 16 weeks of age for a new puppy. They said that they did not care that he just turned 16 weeks the day of. I stated I have not had a chance to get his rabies shot yet because he barely just turned 16 weeks, that didn't matter to them they still refused me service. I waited almost a month for this appointment and their lack of customer service was pretty noticeable. I'm disappointed in them and would not recommend their services. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GROOMING! I scheduled an appointment for a bath/brush/nail cutting for 1PM. I was told that he would not be done until 4PM. After 4:30 I called and they said he would be done at 5. After not hearing from them for another 90 minutes, I called at 6:15 and was told he was done, but nobody called to let me know. Completely stupid to bring him in for a 1PM appointment, if he wouldn't get done until 6. They missed a couple nails and could have definitely cut them shorter, another 1/2" to the quicks. His ears were not cleaned. On top of the shotty job they did, and the inexcusable wait... When I picked up my dog, got him in the car he started freaking out and then took a crap in the car. We stopped and let him out, he pee'd for like 5 minutes and pooped a bunch. We got him home and he drank about a gallon of water. This obviously means that while he waited 5 1/2 hrs for his grooming appointment, they did not give him ANY water, nor let him out to potty. He was likely stuck in their little crappy kennel the entire time. He is 14 and severely arthritic. For a company who claims they care about animals, this is absolute crap and borders on neglect. NEVER NEVER going back, not even if they gave me a gift card for grooming services. AVOID THESE FKRS. read more

I always take my dog, Jake to get groomed at the cottonwood location and they take such amazing care of him. Everyone is very friendly and his hair cut always comes out great! They treat him very well and I've never had issues! Totally recommend them. read more

Do not take your dog here for grooming!!! I took our little Maltese here and and she came home limping. I thought maybe they just snipped a nail so I gave it a few days. Finally, I called to see if something happened. I spoke with manager and she said nothing happened but she would speak to groomer. She told me she might forget to call me back so to call in a week if she didn't . She has never called back. My poor little dog is still limping and after one vet appointment already we now have to take her in for X-rays.. Please don't let another dog get hurt. I read other reviews and I am not the only one who has been through this. If they are harming dogs and not caring we need to make it a priority to prevent it. read more

Forever!!! My dogs appointment was at 230 this afternoon dropped her off for a bath, typically this takes an hour. She is still in there and it's now 630. And they still have not brushed her. GRRRR this store sucks in time management. read more

We had just move here and with almost a three day drive my pooch was a bit smelly. Well back home in Geneva Il we were very comfortable and secure having our pet groomed at the nearest Petsmart. So why would we think differently about the nearest Petsmart in Rio Rancho. Which is in Albuquerque, NM. Well we made an appnt and decided to have our dog bathed and combed there. When we first walked in there was a tall lady on one of the first tables with a small-to-medium size dog. To our surprise the dog was crying and yelping, she seemed to be pulling his ears but even though the dog continue to yelp she did not stop doing what she was doing. My husband and I just looked at each other and were a bit leary about leaving our dog there. I did ask who would be grooming her and they pointed to another girl there. So we left and about 3 hours we came back of course this tall lady there had another dog, was on the same table but now this different dog was also crying and yelping. I know some dogs do not like to be groomed but what a coincidence that both different dogs in the hands of this lady were crying. I think I speak for many dog lovers we do not wish to have our pets mistreated and I do believe she was very rough with them and did not seem to care. Lady DO NOT be in a business you do not love . In this type of profession you need to and want to love all creatures. Since then we have not taken our loving 100 lb lab back to that Petsmart. We believe they all had the same nice people working in there facilities but i guess not. I highly suggest not to go there. :( read more
