CBJ Home Improvement refurbished our large, existing pool deck (new decking/railing) and completed it within 3 days. My husband, Dave, is a Master Carpenter but was unable to tackle the project due to a tight timeline. He understands the inconsistencies in materials (different wood widths, etc.) and what it takes to deliver a quality product. We are extremely happy with the results and the professionalism of the job. They were on time and ready to work each morning. Doug (project manager) kept in contact with us, was quickly responsive to questions and visited the project regularly to be sure everything was going smoothly. Juan (the foreman) exhibited creativity and experience in dealing with the different issues to deliver a top notch result. They rounded off the edges of the drink rail - a finishing touch we hadn't thought of, but that went a long way with Dave. The whole team was very respectful of us, our concerns and the yard - making sure it was kept clean of debris and with minimal impact to grass and garden. I have searched for several weeks to find someone to do my project. I didn't want another contractor to tell me what I want to hear and do what they want to do. I came across CBJ Home Improvement on here (Yelp) and they reached out right away. I talked to Shannon, the office manager who answered my questions honestly and she gave me phone numbers of their previous clients so I could vet them. So we decided to go for it. My husband and I just had our sidewalks and patio done by CBJ. I can honestly say they look better than I expected. They were Professional and full of integrity (which seems to be lacking in this world right now). They returned my phone calls and answered every question that I had. After wasting my time, getting hung up on and given excuses on why they did not show up for a confirmed appointment, I will not be using this company for any projects. On Saturday, I submitted a request on Angi for some concrete work. I received a "please provide info" text message from CBJ on Saturday. I responded to the text with pictures of the area that I would like to have work completed. I received a call on Saturday from CBJ (Bill) wanting to schedule a time to come out to look at the job and provide a quote. We agreed that I would meet Zach on Monday 3-4pm. Also, on Saturday I received 3 emails from CJB. On Sunday I received my 2nd text from CBJ with reservation info and links to the company website, Yelp, BBB, Google, Home Advisor, Angi. On Sunday I also received a 2nd call from Bill trying to schedule the same project. This should have been my red flag. Bill apologized for his mistake and once again confirmed that Zach would be at my home on Monday 3-4pm. So overall, I received 2 phone calls, 2 text messages, 3 emails and confirmation that Zach would be at my home on Mon 3-4pm. After rearranging my day to make myself available on Monday, I waited from 3-5:30pm before I unhappily called CBJ(Bill) to find out why Zach did not show up for the appointment. At first, Bill did not know. Bill was going to try to contact Zach to find out why. I told Bill not to bother because CBJ had already wasted 2 1/2 hours of my time. Bill clamored and asked if he could make it up to me somehow. Without listening to any of his suggestion, I told him that my time is more valuable than anything he could offer. The company had over promised and under achieved. I informed him that I appreciate all of the information, emails, phone calls and text that CBJ sent me and I will use the links to write my review on how CBJ failed to meet expectations. Expecting nothing less, Bill then made a smart remark and hung up the phone on me. About 30 minutes later, Zach called to give his side of the story. Not sure how he was able to call me at this moment because on the phone he told me that he was given the wrong phone number and was unable to reach me. I guess it took him 3 hours to find the correct number. Zach then stated he wanted to prove it to me by send something via text. I stated that there was no need to send anything because I will not be using CBJ for any projects. After we hung up, Zach sent the text anyway. The text showed miscommunications between him and CBJ. I replied "Not my problem". Truth be told, even if Zach had the wrong phone number, he still had my address. Zach's effort to show up at my house was equal to his effort of finding and/or calling the right number. About 30 minutes after that, I received a text from Bill wanting me to reconsider writing a review about the company wasting my time and the mistakes that were made. Bill, in his text, wanted me to know that a negative review could affect his company. Well...If telling the truth negatively affects the company, it says a lot about the company. There is nothing more important than time. I wasted mine. Don't waste yours. read more
