I had them do slate tile in a basement closet not even three years ago and they didn't seal it and so now the tiles are leaching and developing salt deposits all over the surface of it which shows horribly obviously against the dark slate color and they won't fix it. They were horrible an incompetent the whole way through. They made me feel like a bad person for wanting things like the floor leveled first because it wasn't ready for tile and even I knew that. Initially, they brought over this really mismatched rainbow slate I wasn't expecting that was crumbling apart and most of the tiles were broken...had to wait for normal color slate for weeks longer...what a pain and so rude. This is an outstanding company that is focused on taking care of customers and providing both quality service and a great finished product. This the job I have had AllMaster do for me and will continue to use them in the future. I previously had them do two waterproofing jobs, and they finished my basement. This job was replacing a failed sump pump. From the outset of contact them I felt they show genuine interest in meeting my needs. Julie Smith was wonderful in taking my initial call by listening to my problem and quickly identifying the best way to get me taken care of quickly. She put me in touch with their project manager, Maurice, who I've worked with before and he was at my house within 2 hours to assess the situation. He identified an action plan a set up a team to come out the next morning to install a new high grade sump pump with battery backup pump. Marcus and his team arrived the next morning as scheduled and completed the job in timely fashion ensuring I was satisfied. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. Total job was $1,800 to install high end professional grade PitBoss sump pump (not available via retail). I am disappointed in the customer service of this company and will never recommend them to anyone nor use them myself again. Full disclosure, even though I am predominately satisfied with the finished product of my front porch and side deck builds, I am not at all satisfied with this company. For my front porch, we talked about and agreed on a roof with a gable. They put a flat roof on it without talking to me about it first and with no price reduction. This was not an inexpensive project, The only people that checked on the project once it started was the workers, who did an outstanding job. No one from the front office, and they wanted me to make a payment outside of the signed contract in their favor. Even though the job was not completed to our satisfaction. This company took advantage of me as a homeowner they never told me how they were going to construct that retaining wall. I asked on day one and everyone I talked to kept push it to side and never told me. I found out the answer myself and even after I confront them they still didn't admit it. Had they told me that Belgard product didn't require a footer I would never have purchased that product. Because I knew in Baltimore City a footer was required, but they wanted money so badly they continue pulling a permit. They wasted my time and money on them when i could have found someone else to do the job. This is not good business practice nor good customer service. People like this should not be in business. This company should return my money due to withholding information and mispresentation in my opinion. But I will never recommend them to anyone. They are not to be trusted. We have very difficult property issues to work around. A few of the challenges are steep grades, narrow walkways, shrubs, shifting property, erosion - not features for the novice contractor. Allmaster's experience and tenacity stood up to the challenges in a big way. They secured 3 of its retaining walls and made improvements to the existing deck. The teams of skilled tradesmen worked tirelessly through mid-summer's miserable heat for weeks, while remaining pleasant and keeping us informed of the progress. I am very disappointed with Allmaster, we had them put in a new driveway and at first it looked beautiful. The day it was poured it began to rain so they covered it with plastic sheeting that caused ugly lines and depressions damaging the new concrete. They tried to fix the damage done by the rain but did a very poor and unsatisfactory job. They promised to fix the defects in the driveway but after many complaints and months their supervisor today told me that the driveway looked good to him. It does not look good to us or multiple other people from their company. A different Supervisor even took pictures as soon as we complained and also agreed that the driveway needs to be fixed and that it looked bad. We regret paying the Company in full as they don't seem interested in correcting their admitted mistakes. We will never do business with Allmaster again, which cost them many future jobs with us, and advise other people not to trust them. We have lost all trust in Allmaster and only want our costly driveway repaired properly. They also show up whenever they want without advising you before they come. read more

Allmaster doesn't need another glowing review to help them out, but we've been so impressed we want to share. We have them actively working on a couple small projects (window and attic stairs install), and are having them help us plan a big shop remodel. Our new-to-us home came with a nice 1000 sq foot detached shop/garage that needs some work, including completing the foundation. They've been insightful and non-nonsense throughout the process so far. And we're first-time home owners so we basically no nothing about remodeling. Their personal touch and attention to quality is what really sold me. We were getting two estimates for the shop work. When I told John that the other guy said he wanted to excavate in front of the current foundation wall, he drove right out to check it. The wall is starting to fail (bowing in) and their assessment (which makes sense to me) is that heavy equip and excavating would've probably collapsed it. Dodged a bullet there! Yes, they got some business out of us for it because we had them do carbon fiber straps to support the wall, but I could tell it was for the good of the project, not just to make a quick sale. That's the kind of contractor I want to work with. John's been great about explaining the engineering/reasoning behind things, sent me readings, etc. The team who came out to do the carbon fiber straps was great, too. Also explained things well, professional, let us check-in on the work and review afterwards (before they left). Explained technical parts to me that they probably didn't need to, but made me feel better about the work (I'll add their names if I can find them). One of the guys even said he hopes he gets to come work on the rest of the shop project :) Nice to have people who want to work on your stuff. Of course we've have a couple of small scheduling issues, but nothing that ruined anyone's day. That's par for the course in contracting, particularly with a busy company. We're still probably going to get a second estimate for the foundation work just because it's so expensive, but their estimates for the window and attic came in lower than the other guy. Lower price and better quality is win for me. That's really hard to do! read more

We called this company to make an appointment for an installation of a sump pump. The appointment was for Friday between 4 and 5. After we altered our plans for the day, we got a call asking if the job met a minimum of $3K. Not noted on their website and not mentioned when the appointment was scheduled. During 2016, I received a facelift to my basement and it was the best decision I decided to make for my house. I wasn't really planning on it but due to the circumstances in my basement, I decided to do an overhaul. Over the few years that I have lived in my home, I dealt with minor flooding in the basement. My house is about 100 years old, where it had poor drainage and dirt floors in the basement. The ground was always moist and always had this earthy smell when it rained. I was trying to avoid it, but I could no longer avoid it after a pretty bad flooding. After that ordeal, I hired Allmaster contractors. They came in to re-reroute and replace the sub-pump, installed a waterproofing system, drywalled and installed flooring on 2/3 of my basement. Now its my mancave and home office. It added more square footage to my home and is now my favorite space in the house. Allmasters really saved the day for me. I had a retaining wall that goes around my upper pool yard that was put in by the previous owner. It had been failing for about a year but after the winter we had the wall was really starting to lean pretty bad in one section. I started getting quotes from various providers because I knew I would need to do something by the end of the year. Of the four providers that I received quotes from, Allmaster was by far the most thorough and professional. The others were fine too but Steve took the time to walk us through the issues with the existing wall, the options and the risks. Their quote was also delivered much faster than the others. The pricing was all pretty comparable. So, a week after I got the last quote (Father's Day weekend) the wall actually failed. Because it was holding up my pool yard I was a little concerned about the structural integrity of the inground pool itself. I emailed Steve on Saturday since he was my top choice anyway to see what their schedule looked like. He responded within 30 minutes and was able to rework the schedule to fit us in right before July 4th weekend. He even came out to the house on Father's Day Sunday to take a look, assess whether there was any issue with the pool and get paperwork done. Allmaster kept me informed throughout the process regarding the delivery of the material, the status of the crew and the completion of the wall. The crew that came out was great and worked hard each day (3 days, including a Saturday) and the wall looks great! They cleaned up the work area, put down new grass seed and straw, and put my fence back up for me. There was never a discussion about extra costs or anything although I am sure it probably took them a little more time than they anticipated. There is even a warranty on this wall so I feel much better about the money I spent. I would not hesitate to use this company again. Prior to the start of the repair work, the estimate I received from Steve Lacantore was very reliable, precise and understandable even to a person with no knowledge about what is going to involve in the repair work. At first, when I made a request by calling their office to have the damages assessed, the office personnel was very welcoming and flexible to set-up something the very next day morning (unlike their usual norms, as they usually do not take morning appointments as I was told) and it is when I had a chance to meet Steve Lacantore. Through his knowledge and tactful assessment and interpretation of the damages I could get a first-hand impression and confidence that they are much experienced professionals enough to complete this work for me. Steve imparted in me the necessary confidence that Allmaster Home Services professional workmanship can complete the project in just a handful of days and which was to my surprise as damages in my eyes were very severe. As the work progressed, I could see that they lived up to my expectations and fulfilled their promise through their result-oriented tasks (on each of the progressive work days) in bringing back to life my home the way it was before and which was undoubtedly a true reflection of their quality craftsmanship. My experience with Allmaster was not great. I hired them to do waterproofing in my basement, the workers came on time and finished on time, but the work was not right. I had to call them to come back to my house twice to fix things they did wrong the first time (one of those mistakes was water pouring into the basement!). This involved them having to break up the concrete they had just poured so they could put the pipes in properly. Finally, I thought it was done and the drywall guys came to fix the wall and get it ready to paint. These guys were very good! They cared about the quality of the job and actually noticed even MORE things that the waterproofing crew had done wrong! They had to manipulate the drywall job around pipes that were installed wrong so the wall could be "almost" straight. They did their best to work around a lousy waterproofing job. I know I should have had the waterproofers back to fix these mistakes too, but truthfully I was exhausted by this whole effort and didn't want to spend even more time basically starting from scratch. I spent a LOT of money and the job should have been perfect! In addition, I never had anyone from the company talk to me about the problems, no manager called to apologize and try to make it right. The only time I heard regret was from one of the drywall crew who apologized for the fact that their job wasn't perfect because they had to work around the waterproofers mistakes. read more

Just noticed the company on yelp when looking at reviews for other contractors. I hired these guys to do HUD required and a couple of extra things to a house I purchased after the mortgage company said I had to use them. They did terrible work, conducted "personal business" at my home, having people regulary pull up in the back alley and exchanging items. The worker said it was his son, not likely. They failed to complete the job and told the mortgage company it was conpleted, the things that were "completed" were terribly unprofessional, I have since removed several thing and had to hire someone else to do them correctly, such as the tile they installed. They were paid half of the money up front and did agree to sogn a release for the other half of the money, however, I spent more money fixing the additional problems they created and they did not complete ANY work that should have been paid for. They were unprofessional and rude. I was mostly compelled to write the review because the only other review is from the owner's son "Nick L." and is completely false. Careful who you hire!
